  1. Gorton and Denton looks like fairly fertile territory for Green gain if the centre + left bloc is not hopelessly split between them, Worker's Party and Labour. I don't think the right wing vote (ignoring whatever the hell Worker's Party are) should be much higher than 35% here, even if almost all of that is Reform.
  2. I lost two of my votes - Altyr and Rontvia - if I was told I'd lose two then I'd probably not expect it to be Rontvia, and Altyr I'm even more surprised by!
  3. To add to Iz's answer, the Trump government have been stoking tensions (which is at times a bit of an understatement as they are now being video'd murdering people on the street) in progressive cities in Dem-run states like LA, Portland and Minneapolis by sending in the National Guard and/or focusing ICE operations there in part to pick a fight with state governments, some of which may have nationwide prominence (Tim Walz, Gavin Newsom). There's certainly some elements present for things to explode in progressive islands of red states like New Orleans or Cleveland and the National Guard and/or ICE have been deployed to a lesser degree in some places (Memphis) but it's not so much in the administration's apparent interests to make things explode there, so it hasn't really so far.
  4. Giving hype to the 90s tracks.
  5. Only used a few extra minutes of the extended deadline, most of that was listening to Eledan x
  6. 'True MAGA' is a very fringe ideology - most of the MAGA base will simply follow whatever Trump wants and says regardless of whether there is any ideological coherence to it. It's been like this for years. When Trump uses Manifest Destiny in his inauguration speech then any notion of not liking interventionism fades into the past for all but a few exceptions that no conservatives actually care about (Marjorie Taylor Greene).
  7. Free Galicia
  8. I feel like my medium-term memory is awful. Everything would come back to me quite quickly after seeing the results of any given contest but I'd struggle to recall most winners or most of my own entries from, say, 2023, let alone further back.
  9. Self-recycling an artist who I sent fairly recently which is not great but the actual track is quite obscure and sounds different to the last entry by her so I don't feel like it's cheap. And everything else about my entry feels right - a super unique structure for a house/jungle (?) track with a load of tempo changes.
  10. OK but while I'm not totally opposed to someone taking a far right to left wing pipline which seems to happen a lot less than the other way around, this is not necessarily what is happening here as she is still doing far right stuff right up until her last week (this week) in Congress. Like she introduced this bill to eliminate the H-B1 visa programme entirely which goes beyond what even the US administration has done. But still funny.
  11. For most people I feel it was younger but I think 2006, aged 12, was when I became, like conscious to pop culture? I really don't know what I did earlier than my childhood but I don't remember watching too much TV of my own choosing/playing video games/choosing my own music to listen to before then/being able to browse the noughties internet on my family computer independently. So yeah my pop culture conscience turns 20 this year. And part of that conscience is very much watching Big Brother 7! All part of the New Labour reality tv nastiness/humilation era in TV and coincided with tabloids being very powerful. Lots of trash like What Not To Wear, The Biggest Loser, Jeremy Kyle, How Clean Is Your House and punching down comedy like Little Britain too. UK landfill indie peaked in or around 2006 for sure. The Kooks, Razorlight, The Automatic, The View, The Enemy, The Ordinary Boys, The Fratellis. Lots of The bands, big variations in how well or badly they have aged. It was a peak year for 00s electro house too and I feel like the below is the most emblematic of that, along with Fedde Le Grand. Also this is maybe a very niche memory but I feel like this was the peak year for raunchy dance music videos that had started a couple years earlier with Eric Prydz's Call On Me. Some songs are actually quite iconic ('Perfect (Exceeder)' but a lot of the more forgotten ones are extremely cheap. This was one of the most notorious (and it appears it was a barely modified re-release from a couple of years earlier which was another trend at the time): That's just a small part of the 2006 musical landscape though!
  12. Would be good to join 28th and 29th which are the only ones that are feasible at this very busy time! I already did a few EOY calculations because I was curious about my positioning hehe
  13. Mdice managed 9 top 10s in a row (1-7-2-3-7-1-1-10-1) between BJSC 10 and 18 but then got 12th in BJSC 19, so matching your record. Not sure off the top of my head if the contest numbers were aligned across the calendar year at that point. None of the 4 countries you mention have got that close.
  14. Gosh.... didn't realise you'd never finished any lower than 13th!
  15. 171 Blanck Mass - You 2 172 Octo Octa - Find Your Way Home 11 173 Kiss Facility - plasma SF-26 174 Burial - Boy Sent From Above 10 175 Avalon Emerson - Don't Be Seen With Me 24 176 Nourished By Time - 9 2 5 32 177 Bubble Love - Double Caper 14 178 Floating Points - Dexion 13 179 Rochelle Jordan - Doing It Too 9 180 Ohonepoint Trix Never - Rodl Glide 6 Best year in a very long time with only one DNQ and 7/10 entries finishing in the top 15, some of which I'm very surprised by even with hindsight (Octo Octa and Ohonepoint notably, I know that the latter is a bit of an electronic heavyweight but I thought it would be too avant garde to do so well). Biggest miss by far was Erika de Casier getting a devastatingly low 12 points in BJSCFestivalen which I will remain bitter about for a long time.
  16. Congrats Dan! And I've really enjoyed this contest - thanks for the great hosting. The scoreboard was a little overwhelming to read at times but so glad all that information was there! I particularly appreciate the icons indicating who has just received points. Absolutely over the moon at 6th - that's the first time I've finished in any position between 2nd and 9th in over 12 years!
  17. I'm doing YTD top 10 calculations in the background and...wow close.
  18. How did I not know about an iconic music video of a song I love so much.
  19. You are in 7th place.
  20. Not against any of the top 5 winning.
  21. Six 18s Beyond my wildest dreams. Thankyou so much. I'll make sure Oneohtrix knows.
  22. Gosh it has been SO close the last few votes! So much for the Jerry Heil runaway (one of several different outcomes I was in favour of btw)
  23. I'm currently on 2 fewer votes here in 16th than the last-placed song, which has about a third of my total.
  24. To think I was worried about Aelandor even qualifying!
  25. Do not worry, since your post I'm now tumbling down to the part of the scoreboard where I expect to see it x Why are N DNTN being underrated AGAIN. Mall Grab/Real Lies also overdue a big rise too. Tori Amos 1st/Saltillo 2nd is crazy good though.
