  1. There is an enormous amount of tactical voting between Conservative, Lib Dem and Labour voters in Scotland. Of the 10 Tory or Lib Dem-held seats in Scotland, Labour got no more than 9% of the vote in any of them and lost their deposit in 5. For comparison, in only one of the 533 constituencies in England (Tim Farron's Westmorland and Lonsdale) did Labour lose their deposit in 2019. Labour won't be targeting the Tories there. There is barely any Tory vote to squeeze in the SNP seats that they may be targeting.
  2. All these filler characters with their own filler episodes (Exposé) seem kind of refreshing when TV series today tend to have fewer episodes but with more action and more storylines in them. In practice I'm not sure I'd have the patience but it's cool that the creators of Lost were able to just shove in an episode about how Jack got his tattoos.
  3. I know this isn't the place to relitigate 2019 but even if any kind of softer Brexit was provisionally agreed with the help of a united, compromising opposition, *and* the May government agreed to it, it would have been immediately followed by the current Tory establishment removing the 2016-2019 government from power before it would have been able to have been enacted. Forget the divisions that the opposition had in 2019 - only the Tory party's views mattered as they were ready and able to tank the government any time they liked, ultimately.
  4. Honestly the far right doing so well is probably the biggest story - and surprise - of this so I think it's legitimate to focus on it. Even if it doesn't affect the parliamentary arithmetic so much, it has worrying implications for the next elections as it seems that the 'republican front' (partisans ranging from the hard left to the centre right going out of their way to vote anyone to block the far right) has fallen apart. For voters, today's polls show that every part of the political spectrum is responsible for abstaining where the FN reached the second round - or a minority voting for the FN - but for politicians it's certainly Macron's party that I blame for the most egregious cases of equating the hard left with the far right and refusing to endorse the former. Also NUPES is an electoral alliance but not a parliamentary grouping and haven't really committed to working together once in parliament, so if the prime minister chose to lean left to pass legislation, then she could pick off the smaller, more moderate groupings such as the Greens and the Socialists.
  5. My 18 and 15 pointers finished 2nd and 1st and the top 5 is on the whole elite, so while I didn't think the quality overall was brilliant, I'm very glad that the tracks are in the right order.

Okay but if we were to ban tracks over 5 minutes as the poll suggests then you wouldn't be giving them a chance even if you wanted to because they wouldn't be in the contest in the first place. By all means don't give points to songs if you feel that their length brings them down, even if you like the song's concept, that's up to you. But absolutely against banning long songs for everybody. H8_BAoVwoaM Having said that, if I send this then please take this as a sign that I'm trolling. I do love it tho.
  7. Oooops. I can blame the job/location-changing upheaval of living in 5 different places in the last 3 weeks. If more reliable service doesn't resume next month then I have no excuse x Anyway the final was much better than the semi and the pop offering in particular was great!
  8. Me voting late is also a throwback! But I did this morning.

I completely forgot that I'm recycling a Fljotavik artist from over 8 years ago but I remember the track. The 27th that they got is probably about the best I can hope for
  10. Since my veto-to-be is an artist clash anyway, what could be a more obvious quest for success (plan B) than an Aeroche recycle.
  11. Ok well veto them instead then x
  12. I'm getting vetoed x

    Voted!
  14. FLABBERGASTED that I got as many as 45 points from a nice variety of nations of which some rarely vote for me, that is one of my happiest DNQs.
  15. Hello and happy new year! I am gifting you all with harp and perhaps my most relaxing entry ever, hope yous enjoy xo
  16. (it will be 10 years since I've won a main edition you see)
  17. I will bear this is mind for when the results reveal of the latest UP edition coincides with my hosting of BJSC 155 x

Indeed. Europe is already struggling with the Delta variant that we have known about for months, and while we don't know what Omicron becoming dominant will actually do yet, it's not the reason why hospitals here are struggling. It's easier to use new variants as a scapegoat for current problems (see the UK government last year when it got itself into a bind with closed borders and freight across the world with the Alpha/Kent variant), especially when they're deemed to come from the other side of the world.

  20. Omg what I can't believe I qualified when my Leon Vynehall "Midnight...." entry, which admittedly is kinda similar in mood although with very different instruments, did so terribly. Oh gosh I'm sorry! I really liked it too and if I had been in your semi then I would've pointed it! Semi 1 would-be votes: 12 Q 10 Q 8 Q 7 Q 6 🛫10 Niceland - Stevo - Imagine (feat. Chef 187)🛫 5 Q 4 Q 3 🛫18 Danæviia - HUGEL - Morenita (feat. Cumbiafrica)🛫 2 Q 1 Q
  21. N DNTN is a top 5 contender surely
  22. I've already listened to both semis as this weekend was rather free before a lot of busyness so the entire results thread will actually mean something to me. I quite liked the different sound from FARC!
  23. It's because you loved how they to end their own boiler room set and checked out the studio version of the track duh. This semi was already fine from the beginning but the relentless barrage of brilliance towards the end made it quite legendary.
  24. ALL you have to do is send a popular track and then qualifying isn't something you have to worry about (I of course have a stellar record of this)
  25. (Hopefully) sending my first ever New Zealander entry and my second entry with Midnight in its name this year.
