  1. Um Can I make it 59 x
  2. I think the case for an anti-corruption candidate is lessened now that Owen Paterson has resigned and that some other Tory will contest it. It made more sense when the likely route was Owen Paterson himself contesting a by-election triggered by a petition enabled by his suspension from the Commons for 30 days. And while the FPTP system is harmful overall, a progressive alliance doesn't necessarily need to be formalised when we see opposition parties who are out of contention squeezed to tiny numbers anyway. There's no guarantee that many of the 1.6% who insisted voting Labour in Chesham and Amersham this summer would have voted Lib Dem if there was no Labour candidate - the vast majority of 'natural' Labour voters there were of course happy to switch but you always get a few who aren't willing to switch and there's no guarantee that a formalised pact would bring them on board.
  3. This is so funny.
  4. They should really make publish lists of paired MPs and lists of MPs not even in the chamber in order to break down whether an abstention is meaningful or not. Or, of course, allow votes to be cast in absentia. Of course, both cases would be unhelpfully make parliament more transparent and close down a route to get out of difficult votes which is why the government have a vested interest in keeping the opaque system.
  5. All my SF1 votes qualified so it was always gonna be tough to weed out tracks in the final. Having seen some lacklustre reviews for SF2, my expectations weren't high but it actually had some real gems, making for a very high quality final overall!
  6. Thanks Bré! I don't think my entry will be particularly surprising (but if the UP results are ever revealed then my entry, mine there might be a little more so).
  7. Voted! Do the world's dozen remaining trance fans all reside on Buzzjack x
  8. 12 Q 10 Q 8 Q 7 Q 6 Q 5 Q 4 Q 3 Q 2 Q 1 Q That's fab but I'm still salty at 13 points for my own entry. </3 The same happened when I sent another grower so I guess I should aim for something a little more instant.
  9. THIRTEEN POINTS wow rly
  10. Voted with my high expectations for SF1 being met!
  11. I'VE JUST NOTICED SNOOKERED Get Older is my favourite track from that album but with that + Blanck Mass + Sally Shapiro I am truly spoilt in my semi.
  12. YES to both semis in one thread
  13. I can send a second song if u like
  14. And sorry Harry </3 If you've sent something as good as Microdosing then AQing won't be necessary.
  15. I'm entering! Thanks for extending the deadline xo
  16. I'm here for once!!
  17. I can also get on the Flynndonia train.
  18. I don't have a specific number in mind for the correct minimum wage but when Britain is having a cost-of-living crisis, then it is going to hit those on low incomes first and hardest. And the best way of mitigating that pain that is to raise minimum wages. If it leads to further inflation (and it will, but not by as much as the minimum wage is raised, because higher earners won't see that kind of wage increase), then that hits everybody, but disproportionately those with savings and assets. So the rich shoulder the cost of a minimum wage increase, but since they have the wealth to weather the storm much better than the poor anyway, that's a sacrifice I'm perfectly fine. We're talking about a country with stark generational inequality and huge disparities in assets here - gapclosers would be better if they didn't happen in a time of economic strife but would be quite welcome all the same.
  19. ? Starmer is terrible and his vague project of Danish SocDem-style centre-left with an authoritarian twinge is something I disagree with. But regardless of whether I like it, it would be going much better and the legitimate grumblings from progressives would be drowned out more if he was actually a visionary and an effective communicator. When all the Labour leadership projects is bland sentiments that nobody can really disagree with, then there is a void to fill, and the headlines from your conference are instead gonna be dumb but eyecatching stuff like transphobia and debates over whether 'scum' is an appropriate word, leaving your numerous policy announcements ignored. So I'm not sure why you're calling me out.
  20. I'm also on three tracks that I love and I hope all three qualify! It's amazing how much it varies as some of the spring contests this year had 4-5 times more tracks that were firmly in the lovezone for me.
  21. They are of the libertarian right but Euroscepticism and Europhilia in most European countries don't fit neatly onto a left-right axis! Their voter coalition is very similar to the Greens (younger people with higher education) even if they have significant policy differences.
  22. This was the weakest semi of the year for me eeek. And I've also sent what is probably my least qualification-friendly track so I still don't think there's a silver lining of it helping my chances.
  23. Shall we at least put this back on the first page xx
  24. ...they are in the same Europarty as famed Eurosceptics such as the Liberal Democrats and La République En Marche.
  25. Also my artist kinda.... cancelled himself? last year on worrying allegations but he doesn't proudly act like a piece of shit in the way that (similar artist) Ariel Pink does and I feel comfortable putting him forward probably.
