The only thing going against 'The Odyssey' for next week is that (at least in my cinema) 'Spider-Man' has taken up to 9 (!!) out of 12 Screens for the opening day! How many it takes when the schedules go live after and it's available all day long, I don't know. It's crazy busy for Spider-Man on pre-sales alone! So once they get walk-ins too... WHEW.

I’m gutted tbh. I really thought they were one of those couples that would last forever. How do we move on from ‘Silent Disco’ and THAT visual so naturally??? 😭😭 From what I’ve read/seen, they’re actually still close and it seems to be a long distance thing that’s not working for them?? Could be wrong though? But yeah gutted for them both.

'The Odyssey' London BFI IMAX shows are all sold out until mid-September I believe! So it's legs are going to be strong week after week I think. Next week is a quiet week but the kids all start breaking up this week, don't they? So I can see some of the children's/family titles start growing a bit more and stabilising on a healthier level (also, no world cup etc.. so should be healthier regardless). I can see 'The Odyssey' having about a 40% drop (may even be less), which would be insane for a movie of its kind.

My BFI tickets are booked in for 31st. Hyped. Gonna hold off until then and use it as my first viewing for the movie. I’m quite picky with these kinds of movies though. I tend to appreciate them but often I find the story loses me/becomes a bit of a bore/chore for me to enjoy on a personal level. I feel like this will have so much more going for it for me than other “epics” of a similar ilk though so we’ll see!

I still think ‘Oppenheimer’ needed ‘Barbie’ more than the other way around. I really think ‘Barbie’ was hitting a billion with or without ‘Oppenheimer’. Had they not had the ‘Barbenheimer’ hype, I don’t think ‘Oppenheimer’ would’ve got near the billion it did! It strikes me as the sort of movie that would get rave reviews but would “only” have done about $500m-$600m. Instead of what it did get. Intrigued to see ‘The Odyssey’ numbers. I assume it’s going to break an IMAX record!

Love this! I agree with Gooddelta and what he was saying about it sounding like some middleground between those two eras. Almost like if she was to release a single in between if she released ‘How I Feel’ and then went into ‘My Life..’ as some kind of “bridging the gap between eras” single. Big fan. Yay!
