RESULTS: Buzzjack's Songs of the Summer '25
05sombr - 12 to 12 [78 Points] 06Confidence Man & JADE - gossip. [77 Points] In this section we hit the top 5 with sombr and his smash hit song '12 to 12'. Another song I've actually not heard in full until now (heard clips here and there but never in full) and it's another song that I don't personally care for. Oops. Not sure he's really my thing tbh and the success seems pretty random to me, but good for him as he is clearly resonating with many people both on this forum and away from it. He has entered at number 5 in this forums Songs of the Summer countdown and beat some big Buzzjack faves so he is definitely doing something right! At number 6 is the 1st of 2 JADE appearances in the top 10! Showing up here is her collaboration with Australian Electro Pop Group Confidence Man with their infectious, Basement Jaxx-inspired dance banger 'gossip.'. Full of cheeky word play and a really fun bridge where JADE tells us what Tina has said about us.... *shocked Pikachu Meme*. Another track which showcases JADE's wonderfully powerful and charming personality. It was a big hit in my playlists this Summer and I'm glad to see it was for many others too! Such a fun, cvnty song packed full of personality and incredibly quoteable!

JADE - THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY! THE ENCORE • 1st Album DELUXE
I'm struggling to move on from this properly I keep coming back to it and I'm just now listening to my rearranged tracklist of it, using the "Spotify Mixer" function they have in their playlists and it's so fun. I'm happy enough with my version tbh!

Friday Chart Predictions
For Good is just as popular as DG! However, both Cynthia and Ariana have original songs this time so I will be surprised if one or both don’t make an impression of some sort! Particularly Ari due to her fanbase ofc!

I'll be surprised if she doesn't win "Best New Artist" at the 2026 GRAMMYs and leading to her album nominations in 2027.

RESULTS: Buzzjack's Songs of the Summer '25
07Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun [75 Points]08Sabrina Carpenter - Manchild [71 Points] And just like that we have reached the top 2 of Buzzjack's Songs of the Summer 2025! Congratulations to Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun for being the WINNER SERIOUSLY THOUGH... HOW did this miss the top 5 much less top 3?? It was both mine and @RobBot top awarded song of the Summer and honestly Stan Twitter & Tik Tok would have you believe this was an absolute chart SMASH. It felt inescapable, particularly whilst she was OPENING for Tate McRae and all those videos of her performing this song going viral and having millions of views. It's crazy it didn't translate into being a chart smash. It's fantastic. Perfect for the Summer and pretty Euphoric. It's the perfect example for me where I prefer another song as a "song" ('Plastic Box') but I awarded this more points in this countdown because it gives more Summer vibes on the whole. Such an injustice seeing it finish outside the top 5 </3 At number 8 is the love/hate single from Sabrina Carpenter, 'Manchild'. It's about where I would have predicted for it to land and tbh it's deserved. It's really catchy and was another huge chart hit for her. The pre-chorus is insanely catchy and it was really hard to escape that and the bridge (with the dance) on Tik Tok! Such a fun song.

Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun
Currently up to 'The Ambition' and 'Pretty Ugly' stands out like a sore thumb to me. I actually can't tolerate that "song" anymore But everything else... WHEW!

Doja Cat - Vie
Think I need to sit with this album a bit longer... I like it but it's not as "instant" as I thought it would be going by 'Jealous Type' and how instant that was. 'AAAHH MEN!' is the clear highlight for me alongside 'Jealous Type' and I really love 'Stranger' too.

It's so weird though because I think casually I'm not sure I know many people that I speak to actually know who Olivia Dean is... it's such a crazy trajectory. Happy for another British female breaking out though! I really think she'll be big with the GRAMMYs in 2027!

Finally getting around to listening to this for the first time. First listen thoughts... 'Forget About Us' > I really get Emma Bunton - What Took You So Long vibes from this, does anyone else? I can't explain it fully but it's what I get from it lol. It's cute and was a hit for her which is what's important. Not one I go back to, but it's Summery and fun. < 'If He Wanted To He Would' > Still such a BANGER. I wish it came out earlier in the Summer as I really think it would have been a song of the Summer contender. Just a lot of fun and my 2nd favourite behind YGYW < 'Sand Dancer' > This is cute, it's like a better version of 'Forget About Us'. I like that she's got a song about her hometown on here. < 'Rocket Scientist' > Oh this is good! I really like this. The flow and delivery of "Rocket Scientist" in the chorus took me some getting used to with the clips, but it's really nice! I can see why they've opted for this as the next single tbh. < 'Baby Steps' > Oh I love this! Why do I already feel this is under appreciated? It's so good. I love the punchy chorus and the verses are gorgeous. < 'Bonnie and Clyde' > This is BY FAR her most "interesting" song to date at least sonically! I wish it did a tiny bit more with it and went a bit harder, but very good! < 'Pushing Up Daisies' > What in the late 00's/early 10's is THIS BANGER???? It really reminds me of Lady Sovereign - So Human a little bit! A BANGER! < 'Cute Aggression' > This is still cute. It was a nice instant grat. It's exactly what you'd expect and that's perfectly fine! Bop. < 'Miss You' > I hadn't heard this properly in full until now but first of all YES VOCALS!!!! It's a lovely song but it's still quite jarring to me. I think it's coz it's quite "wordy" to me and the production doesn't "flow" that well but GIVE ME THEM VOCALS YES YES YESSS! I think this might benefit from being an acoustic? < 'Punchline' > A lot of fun! I don't like this as much as I thought I would, initially. However, I do think it'll be a grower for me. < 'Put You First' > Nice enough. I'm just not into this Myles Smith vibe though. Not for me but I do LOVE the Axel snippets! HOW CUTE!!!! < 'Absof***inglutely' > A bop. But like 'Punchline' I'm probably not loving this as much as I perhaps *should be* atm. Maybe I'm just getting worn down with this kind of sound through the album? I mean I don't dislike it, but I think I'll get more from it when I listen to it away from the album? < 'Where You Are' > This is... ok. Probably the most "fillery" on the album so far. It's decent enough though. < 'Same Place Different View' > This is getting me pretty emotional. It's gorgeous but heartbreaking and it's sad it's got to that point for them all </3 < 'You Go Your Way' > BOP BOP BOP BOP BOP!!!!!!!! My favourite! <3 I actually think she would have gotten away with replacing the original version with the rock version and it fitting in still! < 'Goodbye My Friend' > STOP IIIITTTT! This is so cute and emotional. I'm gonna look forward to the Tik Tok edits of the 3 of them to this song <3 What a lovely ending. < Overall: A really solid debut. It does get to a point where it starts to blur a few tracks together so I ended up getting a bit worn out by the just over half way point, but they're tracks that I know for sure that when I listen to them away from the album/listen to them more, I will like them a whole lot more ('Punchline' and 'Absof***inglutely' are the to main culprits for me) Highlights: 'You Go Your Way', 'If He Wanted To He Would', 'Pushing Up Daisies', 'Baby Steps' & 'Bonnie and Clyde' I like this album a lot. I *get* some of the criticism towards it (largely that it does get a bit "samey") but on the whole it's criticism I can work with and will appreciate the album more when I get used to the songs more. I do wish she had better producers for her ballads though! We love her vocals ofc and she smashes it out the park on here ofc, but idk there's something pretty basic and boring about the production of them, to me?

At #7 and #8 we have one song which is around where I would have predicted it to be and the other one... I genuinely thought would be a couple of places higher............

09HAIM - Relationships [67 Points] 10Lorde - Shapeshifter [61 Points] Into the top 10 we go and we have back-to-back entries from artists that I personally have been vocal about not being the biggest fan of, so this commentary may not be the greatest, I apologise in advance. At #9 we have the sister trio HAIM with what was their comeback single 'Relationship'. My friend (who also isn't a HAIM fan) told me to listen to this with an open mind... I did. It still wasn't for me, but I don't dislike it. It has an almost 90's hip-hop feel in it's production in places to me. It's a fun song overall. At #10 is Lorde with the final of her entries in this countdown, 'Shapeshifter'. I think (could be wrong) this isn't a single? So the fact it's here due to how many people listened to her album and enjoyed this track is a feat in itself! (This is someone's cue to tell me it was released as a single and went number 1 in 20 territories or something), On first listen (again not a Lorde fan, so why would I source it out?) I'm actually enjoying this! The production is beautiful. I still can't *completely* get on board with Lorde's monotonous vocal style, especially during the first verse, but I like this one.

Perrie - Perrie • 1st Album
Deluxe up for pre-order on her site. Pretty cheeky to do the physical pre-orders during release week Looks like we're officially getting 'Woman In Love' (the other track that was polled against 'Rollercoaster' - Iirc that one sounded better so I was a bit "Meh" when 'Rollercoaster' won lol...) EDIT: It looks like the bonuses will be "Digital exclusives"... so you'll probably get the original album on CD and then a download link for the digital album... (this isn't a new strategy before anyone comes for her btw )

I've not heard the album yet (been pretty ill - still need to listen to Perrie & Zara too!) but 'AAAHH MEN!' is the one track I've seen from people who have heard the album, consistently say that it's a highlight! Hope it can get higher. 'Gorgeous' now has a video too so should see some nice boosts for that too.

I wonder if JADE can get added next week with ‘Before You Break My Heart’? It’s definitely her most R2 friendly track from the album (alongside ‘Silent Disco’)

Don't under estimate Doja Cat and her variants! But other than that, I'd say 3rd highest new entry (at least) is on lock? Maybe I'm over estimating Doja but I can see her charting higher, for sure. At this point, anywhere in the top 10 would be a big result for Perrie!

TLOAS promo cycle
Looks like Lewis Capaldi is also on Graham Norton next week... so no performance from Taylor I assume (not that I expected her to - she seems to not bother with that anymore )
