  1. Do you think having a second CD would generate any more sales than the cassette is managing? I'd imagine 2 CD formats would be counted as separate formats, and when there's only 3 eligible formats allowed and there's a vinyl to come, I can't see anyone going for the second CD that hasn't bought the cassette (and then you'd miss out on cassette sales from those not interested in collecting a CD - ME!) Saying that, I don't think it'll go Top 40 based on just a vinyl release. Maybe that could just have been a 4th (inelligible) format later on, with 2 CDs and a cassette this week instead (just like Tension)?
  2. Just voted. But voted for what I'd have thought re-release... Week 1: Top 20 Peak: Top 5 I just honestly don't know where this went wrong, and I'm not really hearing what other people are hearing (as I said in the main thread)... To me it sounds like a hit, the video is brilliant, it sounds like the sort of thing that would really resonate with people looking for some nostalgic pop, it seemed to have the hype building (a dreadful clip followed by an "ok, I judged it too quickly" clip), Teenage Dream was charging again... It just felt like the stars were aligning. But... Apparently not! So now: Week 1: #41 Peak: #41 (unless Spotify miraculously add it to HH or Apple add it to their Hot Songs, high up)
  3. Juranamo posted a post in a topic in Dua Lipa's Dua Lipa
According to setlist.fm, Madge has only done one date at Wembley since the current stadium was opened (original Wembley had a lower capacity, it was still huge but not completely like for like!) Prior to that, the Who's That Girl (1987), Blond Ambition (1990) and The Girlie Show (1993) tours all had multiple Wembley dates - no idea if they were completely sold out though. Either way, a great achievement for all these superstars!
  4. I'm not even saying that I know every minute detail (I didn't actually know about P!nk and Kelly's comments until now - and that required me to be specific with my googling). From what I can see, their comments were along the lines of "meh, I don't feel bad for him, he's not a good person" and "that's karma for being an arse to work with". I can't see anything where they alluded to anything beyond that. I can't find anything from the other hundreds(?) of people he's worked with saying these sorts of things. They also worked with him in the 2000's (Kelly worked with him in 2009 and apparently told him where to go...) It is very possible that he learnt his lesson there. Some people are difficult to work with/clash/whatever. As far as I can see, this doesn't really have anything to do with gender. A sample of three people isn't really enough for me to say he's a risk to work with (just like I refused to judge Lizzo based on three people complaining about her). I stand by my views. I've never met Dr Luke, Katy, Kesha, Pink or Kelly. I don't know what they're like to work with, I can only see what image is portrayed from what they choose to share or what the press paints... Plenty of people haven't gelled with colleagues I've worked really well with, I don't expect everyone to work well with Dr Luke. I'm not trying to defend a predator. I'm not even like a Katy Perry stan or anything (I have zero intention to go to any of her shoes): I just don't find it comfortable reading an onslaught of negative comments for choosing to work with someone, where none of us can see what has happened behind closed doors. I can just about understand why people might hold different views (given the MeToo context), but until we have more evidence, or other come out with the same kinds of allegations, I have zero reason to be disappointed in Katy deciding to collaborate with a person she has collaborated with many times before. I'm also not oblivious to the fact that convictions are not always correct, I'm literally just saying that we don't have the evidence, and all it takes is for ANY of us to be falsely accused of something by a few people (and one of them to be a serious allegation) for a majority to then judge us - that is what I do not agree with. I hope noone saying these comments gets accused of something they haven't done, because I'm 100% sure it will not be pleasant to go through.
  5. I'd say Whatcha Doing could be benefiting from a combo of being earlier in the album, and also being a lyric that's featured pretty prominently in Illusion. What's that Dua Lipa song "oooh, whatcha doing?". Maybe? And yeah, Happy For You has had some prior promo, and End of an Era is track 1. So Falling Forever is easily on the backfoot there... I'm not surprised the song people were least familiar with (and therefore didn't resonate with) didn't have the biggest impact following Glasto!
  6. I said I wouldn't mention it again, but the song's now out and I'm seeing the same influx of negativity about Katy working with Dr Luke. I'm not enjoying reading about people effectively saying that Dr Luke should be blacklisted from working on any project that the people he's working with deem appropriate for him to work on. I genuinely have no idea why someone who hasn't been convicted of anything can't have a hand in the writing or production of this, and I find it frustrating that it keeps getting brought up. Katy Perry is a woman. She is singing the song. She obviously feels happy with men collaborating with her, that really should be the end of that discussion until further evidence materialises. This isn't targeted at any particular person: I just genuinely feel that if Katy or Dr Luke (or anyone who has been maybe wrongly accused of something before) were reading these sorts of comments, they might feel a bit confused and/or upset. It seems there are only a few people that agree with what I'm seeing, but it's all a bit tough for me to read when I'm loving the song and curious about people's opinions on the song (and not the writing team).
  7. I feel like I'm listening to a different song to almost everyone else. To me this is insanely catchy (I really wish I could have been listening to it on repeat) and is just an almost perfect pop song. The video is fantastic too... My only criticism (which is the same for a lot of songs at the moment) is that it's too short. Basically, I don't want it to end without a middle 8. I guess my tastes are that far away from the general listener these days (maybe I'm in my dated nostalgia era? Because this sounds FRESH to me)
  8. SO SO SO GOOD
  9. I didn't want to risk missing out on the vinyl. I ordered the bundle, then wished I'd have ordered them separately when I noticed the bundle was the same price as getting each format separately (that would have made life easier when the inevitably reduced the price of the the CD and cassette, but they never ended up doing that to my surprise!)
  10. The extended version of Anything For Love confirms what we already knew: it should have been much longer! It would be ideal if we had some other verses (rather than the same part pretty much on loop), but it's still better than what was given to us on the regular album...
  11. The point is those are not the only takes she can have... I agree they would be shitty takes if we actually knew Dr did anything wrong. She also has the option to believe her *own* experiences if she hasn't has the same experiences and is unaware of anyone else having the same experience one person claims they had (all I'm saying there is that *none of us* know what actually happened, because there has - to this date - been no conviction, evidence, or further accusations that have made any noise). This does not make her a bad person in the slightest (unless she *knows* something went on... Which again, we have zero way of knowing). Anyway, this is circular... I won't say anything else on it. It shouldn't matter to me what other people think about people I also know little about, I'm HYPED to hear this, regardless!
  12. I'm just OBSESSED with the new clip. Completely stuck in my head. I haven't seen the lyrics on that dress, but I wouldn't actually be surprised if the awful clip we first got was actually part of the song: it does sound like it would fit in... And if it's say, the opening lines of a verse, it means it's building into a relatively explosive chorus. Goes to show a clip will never show the full picture! (Maybe they selected that clip from the song because they knew people would jump on "it's so bad", getting people talking about it/making tiktoks etc...? If that's that case, faur play, it's DEFINITELY working!) I struggle to see any reason why she would mention anything, whether advised to keep quiet or not. Her team have probably assumed that it might come up in interviews: I doubt she's gonna say "yeah, I worked with him... f*** that liar Kesha!!!1!!1"... I imagine it'll be more along the lines of "they're the only ones that know what happened there, I haven't heard of any other rumblings, I feel bad about how Kesha feels, but *I've* never had any issues when working with him". I'm not an abuse defender, but I can't jump on someone that hasn't been convicted without smoke from a more than a few people - Kesha knows to stay clear, and I would hope if other have experienced the same, they come forward! I'll continue to listen to Kesha, Katy, Dr Luke, anyone, as long as the music's good in the meantime!
  13. Well this one sounds promising!
  14. I don't get the issue here. Dr Luke wasn't actually convicted of anything (rightly or wrongly, us from the outside will never know unless we see otherwise), and I'm pretty sure Katy has said things alluding to not having experienced any of the allegations*. Why would she choose not to work with him based on one person's experience, when she hasn't experienced the same thing herself despite working with him ALOT? He was never convicted: for all we know, Kesha could have exaggerated the truth as a way out of her record deal... We have no way of knowing that at the moment. Maybe I've missed something? Rob (don't wanna single you out, and I think that the intention of your post is more around the choice being misguided, rather than a dig at Katy for working with him) has even said he happily stans Kim Petras who is literally always working with him. I just don't get it. Katy is being dragged for working with him, others are being let off... It just makes no sense to me lol Either way, the tiktok clip sounds horrendous! That's the reason my hype has flattened! * I could be wildly wrong and making this up, but I'm sure I read something at some point.
  15. Honestly such a good show! Definitely think it topped Ten for me! I know, right! Why spend 100 quid on tickets (first night I was much closer, and there was someone hammered next to me), only to basically not be present for it? I like a drink or two... But as soon as the show starts, I'm not going anywhere! If I want to drink, I can do that after! Ooooh. Entered! Wish I could do some more shows!
  16. Back from an amazing weekend in Glasgow! I had tickets for the original show (Saturday) to see it with a friend. I was not disappointed! My friend was also seeing it with a different friend yesterday, so I managed to grab myself a cheapish resale ticket in the gods to see it a second time! Was a strange experience, watching it on my own... But I loved it just as much! Just wish I could see it more! I really hope they tour again, but understand if it's alot for them. Will see! I got irrationally furious at everyone leaving to grab drinks etc during Girl Overboard/Graffiti My Soul/On the Metro... But their loss, I guess (and it meant most of them missed the songs that followed) - I can understand if people aren't able to go the whole show, so need to pick their moment of course, but I heard people say "don't know this, let's grab a drink". I was pretty much the only one up and dancing in my block, on my second night, during Girl Overboard... But I didn't really mind if I blocked anyone's view that was sitting, as they were perfectly fine standing during the songs they cared about. Dunno if that's a bad attitude to have on my part though? Noone said anything thankfully!
  17. How loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong? That!
  18. As you've bolded part of my post, I shall respond. To clarify: I hold the same view as yourself. I'm saying that if the UK send a middle of the pack song, we should expect to be 20th(ish), as the law of averages would dictate that there were already 10+ songs not even in the competition that had been weeded out (for being lower than average). I think the UK tends to send songs that are not in the top half (quality wise), and that being Top 20 does not mean we've flopped (because there are many other songs that have already been knocked out). I didn't mention anything about airtime, just that we are competing against a stronger set of songs than if *all* songs were in the final. We deservedly end up in the bottom few spots because the songs aren't good enough.
  19. I don't think anyone's saying we'll do well every year. More often than not, we'll get it wrong. People just seem quick to forget the successes (Sam/Jade, to a lesser extent Blue). It's worth remembering, if we take an average of say 38 songs competing... Coming 19th or above is technically top half (so we could add the likes of Olly and Lucie to that mix too). We don't need to compete in the semis, so we're competing against the songs that have already proved themselves - and that's a problem most of the big 5 feel - Italy do a similar thing to Sweden, and feel the rewards of that, but I'm sure they are also capable of sending a "lower half" song. We're heading in the right direction, Olly didn't appeal to the public, but he was smack bang in the middle of ALL songs competing. That says we are getting something right.
  20. The only name I've seen so far that I think could work well (with the right song, though her last album was really bland) would be Alexandra Burke. She has a phenomenal voice, and can perform. But as much as I love her, I think sending someone like Rina (or someone else current/upcoming) would be an excellent bet. The song HAS to be instant though. Not a mid-tempo grower! Can't recall many saying Dizzy was great on first listen...
  21. Disgusted at our country. 12 points to Israel. No thanks.
  22. f***ing hell. This is insane. I actually half hope Ireland and UK withdraw.
  23. If Netherlands pull out because they are penalised (which they already have been, by being suspended from today's rehearsal), pulling out now says "we wanted to hear what Eden's thoughts are: why are you sensoring our voice? Why are you sensoring the crowd's voice by altering the crowd's noise?". If others pull out because of that, it says the same thing. It says "we're not happy that we are not allowed anything resembling a voice".
  24. Yeah: this is an awful change.
  25. I don't get the whole drawing thing... What's the point in putting some first and second half, and then half of them wherever they want? Might as well have them all wherever they choose...
