It would be higher if it wasn't released in 2004 ('She Will Be Loved' it's obviously higher - more accessible, and streamed lots still). On the other hand, album sales were huge then... Albums 1 & 2 were during big album/(relatively) low singles sales eras, so their singles popularity is not *quite* represented - hence why Rihanna's 'Umbrella' is eclipsed by a fair few of her more recent songs...

I hear this: but I wouldn't say there's 'George Ezra influence' purely down to his voice, when nothing else is vaguely similar. 🙊

I Want Love woulda been perfect for us (definitely could've seen a top half result, if staged well)... If she can steer clear of whatever the fook she's been doing for the last few eras, I could see her doing really well! She's known pretty much worldwide, right?

This is on the tamer side, she only really 'screaches' during the "I Want Love" bits! (granted, through most of the song... But being isolated to the one line means that this time... That... Errrrm... Talent...? Is used effectively) Aside from a few sublime singles (I liked enough of the Who You Are singles to buy her album), I found her voice to be a bit of a cheesegrater. I'm grateful (PUN COMPLETELY INTENDED) that she seems to have learnt how to rein it in, even if the music from the last era was the most boring/tuneless dirge I've ever heard... 🤣

Absolutely love The Hoosiers. Unfortunately, I'll never unhear that... 😭 I'll stick to the rest of their discography (and All Together Now/3 Lions/Shout if I ever feel like listening to an England football song) thx (*might* not complain if The Hoosiers get some [much overdue] success because of this... Choices/The Illusion of Safety were FAR TOO GOOD to have killed them with second album syndrome... Chances of that happening are approximately the same as dodos coming back from extinction...)

Watched last night, my rankings of the performances/songs: Italy Malta Israel Azerbaijan Ireland (I'm forgiving the vocal as the staging was easily the best, and the song is brilliant!) Belgium Cyprus Russia The Netherlands Ukraine Croatia North Macedonia (this captured me the most of the big ballads) Australia (the lighting effects detracted from this too much, sadly) Germany Norway Lithuania (seen it before, song is as expected) Sweden (a bit forgettable) Slovenia Romania (she sounded a bit croaky this time) I've bolded who I expected to go through, in italics are the AQ performances

This is true! It's coming at multiple people for having a differing taste to you isn't really cool, and should be called out. Mine was dressed with a kiss (which I took as tongue in cheek, and that may well be the intention [i don't think he's being malicious or anything])... But Colm wasn't even referring to them, and these songs that Colm is absolutely allowed to dislike are being defended in a seemingly personal way. No harm intended, just saying what I see. 😘

On another note, you came across a bit bitter to me for simply not liking the Russian/Ukrainian entries. It's as if people *must* like them because you do... (I dislike neither, for the record... There's just tonnes of songs that I prefer)

Thankfully, they seem to have u-turned on this... Though, if they didn't rehearse with this, sounds like it could look shabby...

Voilà is just not for me AT ALL. It takes a very special song to break through my need for energy in a song (which ZITTE E BUONI satisfies very well...)

Can't wait for everyone to cry about 'politics' being the reason we come last-ish, as our entry (correctly) "isn't too bad"... 🙄🙄 The staging looks dire, and the complete absence on pyrotechnics (unless it's being saved for the final... Which doesn't seem to be the case) is such a missed opportunity. I'd be elated at a Italian or Maltese win, they've brought the best songs... France can stay away!

I've been having a bit of a play with excel (mostly to help myself learn understand various formulas etc) and thought it'd be interesting to see a full contest simulation. My "contest" is based on the following (and it makes sense in my head...): - Semi finals (based on all most recent rankings); this is based on the assumption that the majority of semi-final viewers are people who would be very familiar with the songs, with a randomiser allocating half to of these rankings to each semi - Final (based on first rankings only); conversely assuming that the majority of final viewers with be unfamiliar with the songs - Traditional Eurovision points issued for the top 10 rankings for each person - Total televote points allocated to Jury and distributed based on their aggregate ranking (whereby 1st in all rankings would = 25 and 26th = 0) as a percentage of the points total Will be interesting to see how this turns out. I'll post the results once all rankings have been posted after the semi-final!

Just saw this on my feed. Odd to see an singer sponsor a club! Intriguing form of advertising though, less important for home games where it felt like everyone in Ipswich (except me) seemed to have went to the divide shows anyway. 🤣

Using Ericsson as a baseline: towards the end of his F1 days he did solidly, if unspectacularly (bearing in mind Leclerc really *is* a top driver). And he's performing much the same in a top Indycar team. There are certainly some upcoming/experienced drivers that could do very well in a top F1 team (O'Ward and Herta in particular).

I was going to say that Sugar, We're Going Down seems to be their most prominent song these days... Makes sense to see it (fairly comfortably) number 2 here - assuming that Centuries had a reasonably large number from around its release (bearing in mind Sugar didn't have steaming at release), Sugar is probably catching up. With that in mind, I'd say Dance, Dance was more popular at the time - and I it performed similarly, despite being a post-album single (I think...). Sugar has definitely eclipsed it... My favourite single by them is This Ain't A Scene, and I don't think it was a fluke #2 (I thought it had a strong shot at beating Grace Kelly's second week)... But I guess playlists only have room for one defining song per artist...
