I did know that was probably uhsting's entry but  to ha for not self-reporting during the listenthrough this time x
I'd heard it once before but definitely got into it more with this relisten, got to love the solid minute and a half of screeching feedback at the end in particular xx (seriously though, here for such a gloriously intense song)

Also my usual plea please to ask how you get around the quoting error, isn't it something like
or whatever?
If the post comes up blank in the preview just stick a "

" somewhere in it x
(btw Nuggets has never had a stats thread as far as I'm aware...)
~
Could see Joop's entry doing reasonably well, think I remember that sounding like it'd be a fairly wide appealing one (a bit of a Bring Me The Horizon-alike iirc?)

Yay for the big rise into the top 100 for the first time for Zach & Kacey  it was still only #53 in the mids so may be a tall order to contend for top 40 this week but hopefully another new peak at least and maybe top 40 next week?
So far so good for Olivia emulating the longevity of the 'SOUR' album bomb!
Oh my at Tyla coming to have a chart hit to make up for ha 2 BJSC flops
Also I see that newly charting Hozier song is just a viral track from his debut album rather than anything off the new one :') (and likewise for Dominic Fike, that song is from his 2018 debut EP).

This certainly isn't a vintage list of songs but to be fair the month was very scant for new entries in general, only 26 the entire month! (I'm sure December will be even worse when we get to it )

+10 adore u
+8 Paint The Town Red
+7 DNA (Loving You)
+6 Feel It
+5 One In A Million
+4 Bittersweet Goodbye
+3 bad idea right?
+2 Desire
+1 Prada
Only the top 3 here made my votes in the weekly rounds oop x

)
Round 2: 18 (missed
Deacon Blue (-6), 1995 (-3), Mud (-3), Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid (-6), The Mobiles (-3)
)

Ronan Keating
)
3 in 10: 3/3 (
'The Reflex', 'Rio', 'Girls On Film'
) - me, Jade and Rollo picking 9 different songs between us here! though I snapped with 2 of Dan's
Not great today but then it wasn't for the contestants either. 2 years early for the first year and 1 year early for the second, feel like I should have got both of those tbh but had no idea at all for all of the others questions.

Snow is the only option for best x (I kept saying this as a meme but it is far and away my favourite here so I am unironically only voting for him)
I've had to quickly YouTube the Red Dragon song after literally sleeping through it on SyncTube oops, I actually don't mind that one. Gotta go with the #rodklaxon

I’ll wait til this Friday to see if my song drops out the Top 100 and reconfirm it. It’s only 94 in the midweeks so here’s hoping nobody here deliberately streams the hell out of it.
It’ll only get ten veto points then x
Nice try but it'd still be 15 veto points because of the following so please don't waste your hopes x (didn't you say you have a backup prepared anyway?)
05 \\ In the last 24 months the song has charted in the official chart of the United States or the United Kingdom
You can try again in 2025 I guess lmao

I like how Dagny getting vetoed has basically been an annual tradition since 'Wearing Nothing' :kink:
'Papillon' is a great song and all but I think 2009 is a little too recent for a 'retro' top 40 entry (and I don't think this is exactly a super forgotten hit either - there might be a few minor hits from that era that you could get away with, Richard Hawley's 'Tonight The Streets Are Ours' was one that we allowed not too long ago for example, but this isn't one of them).
@ the person who sent Paul Russell, it's not the first time you've tried confirming a song that's in the current UK chart, I would advise having a quick check of the charts before confirming if this is going to keep being a recurring issue...!

Very close to getting 2 of even all 3 of the songs from week 34 through but alas it is still only Billy Gillies that makes it. Also a little gutted Aphex Twin didn't make the cut but then I didn't really know how I would have approached having an EP in the monthly round anyway so maybe it's for the best x Anyways, Calvin and Olivia both going for another guaranteed spot in the yearly final to join Taylor Swift in having 2 songs booked there I suppose ~

Thanks to all who voted in the... biweekly-ish August rounds of this poll series. Time for the monthly round.
To participate in this please post in this thread with a ranking of all the songs using the Eurovision voting system, i.e.:
+12 your favourite song
+10 your 2nd favourite song
+8 ...
+7 ...
+6 ...
+5 ...
+4 ...
+3 ...
+2 your 9th favourite song
+1 your 10th favourite song
Please make sure you have heard all songs before voting, there aren't many of them and you should know most if not all of them already and we should have weeded out the obvious deadwood in the weekly rounds! A handy Spotify playlist is provided below if needed x
Here are the songs that made the cut this month:
Bebe Rexha and David Guetta - One In A Million
Billy Gillies - DNA (Loving You) (feat. Hannah Boleyn)
Calvin Harris and Sam Smith - Desire
cassö, RAYE and D-Block Europe - Prada
Chase And Status and Bou - Baddadan (feat. IRAH, Flowdan, Trigga and Takura)
Doja Cat - Paint The Town Red

Jazzy - Feel It
Olivia Rodrigo - bad idea right?
And here's this month's Spotify playlist, clocking in at 29 minutes and 3 seconds (a few minutes shorter than the last few, the first one of these to be sub 30 minutes):
The 3 songs with the most points will qualify for the yearly round while 4th will go to a playoff round with a chance to also make the yearly round and 5th and below will be eliminated.
A week late starting this again so will be open for a week with results to come alongside those of the current weekly round hopefully on Sunday evening :jump:

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 33 and auto-qualifying for the August monthly round is Olivia Rodrigo - bad idea right?.
BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 34 and auto-qualifying for the August monthly round is Billy Gillies - DNA (Loving You) (feat. Hannah Boleyn).
BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 35 and auto-qualifying for the September monthly round is Selena Gomez - Single Soon.
American star Olivia Rodrigo makes it 2 for 2 poll wins with her chart entries of the year as 'bad idea right?', the spoken word infused second taster from her now-dropped sophomore album 'GUTS' (currently a #6 hit but set for a new high this week), followed 'vampire' to a victory albeit by a smaller margin than I expected, she got support from just over 6 in 10 voters giving her a 5 vote lead over the second placed song which was inexplicably that D-Block Europe remix, blowing all of DBE's previous poll results out of the water (I don't get why this one is winning you guys over, it's really not any better than their average x). The winner of the also-rans in the week 34 poll required the support of fewer than 4 in 10 voters, but it's ultimately Northern Irish DJ and whimsically named Billy Gillies and English vocalist Hannah Boleyn (both UK chart debutants, entering in the low top 100 but on the up since and perhaps soon top 40 bound) who took the victory by 2 votes with their contribution to the 'ride off the coattails of 'Miracle'' trance revival phenomenon. Hozier's Grammy bait collab with Brandi Carlile took 2nd place. And the winner of the mid-off for week 35 (my 3 least favourite songs were the only 3 that got to double figure votes, I'm not normally this out of touch x) is American singer Selena Gomez's single 'Single Soon' (soon), apparently just a throwaway release of an older song
and it could quite happily have stayed on the cutting room floor frankly, delivering on a poll win here even if its actual chart performance disappointed some with it arriving outside the top 20 and not looking like improving on that. It nonetheless has the most comfortable victory margin of these 3 winners, landing 6 votes head of Joel Corry's latest collab with generic DJ A and generic vocalist B (MK and Rita Ora this time).A third song from each poll also managed a double figure result - that means in week 34, although it still comes in last as you'd expect, it's a very valiant effort for Giggs and Dave, only 2 votes behind Hozier. Fred again.. and Obongjayar's collab comes in 3 votes behind cassö and co while Miley Cyrus perhaps underperforms a tad landing 1 vote behind Joel Corry and co. Much ink has been spilled in discourse over Oliver Anthony Music and his politics but enough people registered support for the song here that it avoids the sub 5 vote mark and has double the support of all the UK rap also-rans of the week, both Fredo songs getting 3 votes to just about beat out the Digga D/Potter Payper collab. The sub 5 voters for week 35 lean more to afrobeats than UK rap with poor showings for one of the Burna Boy songs (although Dave just about saves his other entry, while also taking his own new song just barely to the 5 vote mark) and Asake, plus Bugzy Malone's latest attempt at a dance hit which fell flat both commercially and in this poll where it's joint last with 2 votes. I guess I'm relieved 'I Remember Everything' at least got more votes than 'Rich Men North Of Richmond', I think 8 votes might be the most any of the country hits have managed all year.

Right finally another dedicated thread for just the one chart week - and it's a decently varied bunch this week with a few songs that I expect should get a good number of votes, although I don't think there's much tension as to who will actually win. Tunde of course. 12 songs this week totalling 35 minutes and 39 seconds.
Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!
And hopefully I can stick to the schedule so setting the deadline for Sunday evening again :jump: will get the August monthly round up now as well which will also be open for a week with results to come in the next weekly poll thread x

Nuggets XVI
in Indie, Rock and Alternative
Did not know before this contest that Thom Yorke's brother was also in a band. Nice song x
edit: and a great entry from Doctor B, was not expecting to hear trip-hop vibes in Nuggets of all places! <3
