hype to see where these rank~

- When Can I See You Again

I'mma start by ranking the tracks from each EP/album, then maybe an ultimate rank later down the line. I'll also do things like music video ranks :P

Despite being nearly 10 years old and self-released, I've grown to like a couple of these tracks a fair bit.

Of June (EP) (2007)

Of_June_itunes.jpg

7. 5.5 The Airway

I always find this one quite boring and tend to skip it. The production seems to drag and there's not much to it vocal wise either.

6. 6.5 Designer Skyline

This was another older discovery, it's got old a bit for me but it's still nice.

5. 7.5 Swimming in Miami

Decent Of June album track, can sound a little boring but only in places, and the beginning and the end parts are rather good.

4. 7.5 Fuzzy Blue Lights

This one starts with a piano sequence and then Adam brings in his usual soothing vocals. For some reason this one is particularly soothing, and he seems to have softer vocals in this one too.

3. 7.5 Panda Bear

The intro to this is beautiful  the rest of the song is good too but not really at the same pace as the first 30 seconds or so. The verses sound a bit like the last verse of Captains and Cruise Ships.

2. 8 Captains and Cruise Ships

This was the first track from OJ that I liked (back when I wasn't that keen on his older stuff). I like how he takes short breaks for each line in the verses, and (I say this for 99% of his songs) but the lyrics are lush  it's one of the few songs where he does now directly quote the song title, as he says "old captains and brand new cruise ships" :P

1. 8 Hello Seattle

Hello Seattle first appeared on the Of June EP but later reappeared and was released as a single on his second album Ocean Eyes. It was also re-recorded and there some minor differences. This is probably a favourite for most Owl City stans, even if I did used to not like it  I think the repetition of the line "Hello Seattle, I am a..." works really well and is what makes it enjoyable. The "take me above..." part is the part I often look forward to :P A remix of this was also included on the deluxe edition, which is a serious tune :music:

12. 7 West Coast Friendship

A more upbeat sound to this one, I don't find it that special but it's still likable.

11. 7.5 The Technicolor Phase

The first verse or so sounds kind of average but it picks up a bit after that. Similar to SH, I like the mystical sound effects and breaks between verses.

10. 7.5 Super Honeymoon

A fun little intro to this one which I find rather enjoyable, it's also comparable to his sound from Of June. I do enjoy the "ice crystal" kind of sound in places too.

9. 7.5 On The Wing

The album opens up with On The Wing, which I think had a great introduction. His sound does change but only slightly, and his vocals so some extent as well, but with his usual dream-like lyrics :P In this track, the "late nights..." part seems to stay too high pitched for too long but the rest of the song is nice. Breanne Duren offers part of her vocals during the end of the song.

8. 7.5 This Is The Future

This one doesn't have as many lyrics, but you can really hear his emotion in his tone of voice here

7. 8 Air Traffic

In a good way, the production in this sounds like a kind of lullaby song  Breanne again provides some vocal addition from the second chorus.

6. 8 I'll Meet You There

Before the breaking down of the chorus this is already a swell tune, I especially like the fading out of the song title :D the last verse is my favourite part too. I find that the first verse sounds a lot like this:

5. 8 Sky Diver

Another song which has a momentum-building intro, but again his vocals sound so soft all through the song which means that it's not just the intro I fuss about for this.

4. 8 Earlie Birdie

The production to this in the intro is magical  it's also the first song to ever have a music video recorded (and if you watch the second video, it's where the origin of the spinning Adam gif comes from :kink: ) I think the production is stronger than his vocals in this one, or I might have given it an 8.5. I find the sudden change in mood interesting near the end of the song :P

3. 8.5 Dear Vienna

The chords in this are ace and his vocals work well alongside, and the effect of him repeating the song title throughout the verses works really well.

2. 8.5 Rainbow Veins

Another earlier fave, I love the use of the xylophone (I think?) in this, it makes the track a rather magical piece. The chorus is excellent and the verses carry it all throughout the song and there really isn't a boring moment in this track  I especially like the instrumental break that lasts for about a minute or so before the last chorus. It's also another song which doesn't directly reference the title, but uses "rainbow" and "veins" separately.

1. 9.5 The Saltwater Room (feat. Breanne Duren)

This was the first collaboration Adam makes with another artist, Breanne Duren (who is not credited in On The Wing), and the production in this rather slays me a bit  the Breanne vocals in this is enough to want me to give this a 9.5 rather than a 9. Their duet in the choruses work so well together, I mean, just wow, and the outro for this where her vocals fade out "all the time..." gives me feels  they should really do more collabs, but maybe they won't be as good with his music being a lot different nowadays to this.
  1. 9.5 The Saltwater Room (feat. Breanne)
  2. 9 Rainbow Veins
  3. 8.5 Dear Vienna
  4. 8 Earlie Birdie
  5. 8 Sky Diver
  6. 8 I'll Meet You There
  7. 8 Air Traffic
  8. 7.5 This Is The Future
  9. 7.5 On The Wing
  10. 7.5 Super Honeymoon
  11. 7.5 The Technicolor Phase
  12. 7 West Coast Friendship

"Designer Skyline" and "Panda Bear" on the same EP? Such foreshadowing :o

Edit: omg they're even next to each other on the tracklist!!!1

Hey screw you, Designer Skyline is EASILY the best on Of June. And actually the only one on there I care about that much.

This Is The Future and Rainbow Veins are the (non-Ocean Eyes tracks) that are best off Maybe I'm Dreaming, thank you for putting the latter second, it's very addictive (and quite creepy if you listen to the lyrics  although only as much as Tip Of The Iceberg I guess)

Yeah the lyrics are rather odd a lot of the time in his lyrics, especially when he's disguising himself as a sleeping pill and descending inside of people

20. 6 The Bird and the Worm

This was a track that used to consider cheesy and a non-event on the album. I wasn't a fan of the lyrics and the whole country like sound, but recently I don't hate it as much, and the song does get better after the first verse or two.

19. 7 Rugs From Me to You

This track was one of two Japanese bonus tracks (along with Hot Air Balloon) and what I enjoy about this track is its lyrics and the fun progression throughout the song. It's all about hair  and as I'm a proud owner of long hair #longhairdontcare I enjoy the song. Its novelty doesn't bring it very high on this rank though, but a 7 is still quite a fair score for what the song is.

18. 7.5 On the Wing

Appearing first on MID and now re-recorded for Ocean Eyes is On The Wing. Well I've already commentated on this so you can read my opinions in the MID post above ;)

17. 7.5 Sunburn

This was a promotional single and was included on the deluxe album, as well as appearing on the soundtrack for the film 90210 (which I should really see tbh) and it was free for people who bought the album for a couple of weeks. It's quite catchy and the guitar is used well throughout.

16. 7.5 Cave In

This sounds like it incorporates part of his pre-OE sound but the production is more summery sounding here. Again I do enjoy this one but it's not what I would call a highlight on the album and it admittedly gets lost over the higher quality tracks on the rest of the album.

15. 8 Hello Seattle

Hello Seattle is re-recorded for Ocean Eyes from Of June, and the only OJ track to reappear on another album. It was also released as a single after Ocean Eyes was released. It was also remixed for the Deluxe edition of the album which I'll talk about in its section.

14. 8 Tidal Wave

This track includes some of vocal talent from Matthew Thiessen, who works on many of Adam's tracks, including production. It kinda sounds like the Swimming with Dolphins sound and I love how the vocals work together in this.

13. 8.5 Butterfly Wings

We're getting to the rather good tracks now before even reaching the top 10, and Adam's vocals seem to really shine in this one. Some of the lyrics, particularly "if I was a raindrop, would you be my thunderstorm?" is what interests me in particular to this one. The atmosphere in the song works brilliantly with his vocals here  It appears on the deluxe edition.

12. 8.5 If My Heart Was A House

Released as a bonus track on the iTunes and deluxe edition. There's a particular verse playing a couple of times which really brings his vocals in the spotlight  again the lyrics really inspire here.

11. 8.5 Dental Care

I've known this one for quite a few years, because of the fan made music video embedded above  Similar to Rugs..., the lyrics talk about another part of life, but instead of hair it's about going to the dentist :') I think it gets some criticism for its lyrics but unlike Rugs... it's got some great vocals in some verses and the production makes the song really bright and enjoyable. The video helped me to enjoy this song due to its funny nature

10. 9 Fireflies (Adam Young Remix)

The Adam Young remix of his biggest hit to date kicks off the top 10. Even though it's not that amazing it's still an interesting take on the original, adding some sound effects here and there.

9. 9 Meteor Shower

Another short song which is less than 2 and a half minutes long, which is kind of a shame but the power in his vocals here are really something to shout about (as he seems to be shouting after the first couple of lines) which I get the impression that he's shouting to the world his feelings for someone.

8. 9.5 The Saltwater Room

I forgot to embed this video from this guy who has done several fan made videos for this album (which I'll embed for the rest of the tracks) another re-recorded song from MID.

7. 10 The Tip of the Iceberg

We're already on the 10s now and it's not even time for the top 5! :o Before I was a big enough fan to decide to listen to his whole discography I came across this on the user upload flash site z0r.de, which sampled the instrumental part of the song. Link is here :') The production definitely fits the wintery theme of the song and the verses build up really well.

6. 10 Vanilla Twlilight

it sucks that this just misses out in the top 5 as it's still a brilliant track :( it's a superb example of his music that just seems to take you away with his soothing vocals and production, and towards the end his vocals get louder which just shows that really he can sing in songs for whatever mood you may be in.

5. 10 Strawberry Avalanche

Another promo single included on the deluxe edition. It was actually entered into BJSC in the 17th contest! :o it came 7th in the final, so, slay B-) it's one of my favourites from him in terms of the more dancy songs he's produced, and I like how it seems to combine his MID sound with it. Oh and who wouldn't love an avalanche of strawberries to crash over you?

4. 10 Hot Air Balloon

This song is about a summer's day spent with another in a hot air balloon, and the lyrics alone are enough to make me love this song  It was part of the Japanese edition and was also a promotional single, and he's certainly got a lot of stories to tell in the verses. The production yet again slays me and just makes it really magical, an early fave that hasn't seemed to get old!

3. 10 Umbrella Beach

This is one of my favourite dance oriented tracks from him, and also an earlier favourite from him, which reached #112 in the UK Singles Chart :cheer: it's just a perfectly crafted track and i should really listen to this type of dance more! It's similar in some ways to The Yacht Club which appears on an album I'll talk about later ;) the instrumental verse in this is insaneeeeeee :music:

2. 10 Fireflies

In silver position is finally his most recognised #1 hit Fireflies, which was in the top 20 most downloaded songs of all time in the UK :w00t: despite being maybe lost in listening to the rest of his discography and getting maybe a bit much overplay from my end, it still remains a significant jam and the cause of me becoming the stan that I am now. I still remember hearing it for the first time years ago when it came up on the radio in the car and it was my cousin's favourite song at the time :D

1. 11 Hello Seattle (Remix)

KQ7OIZONwl8

An instrumental at #1 now. Adam himself remixed the oldest track on the album, Hello Seattle which starts off for about a minute a piano recreation of the song, which builds up into a heavy dance beat and occasionally includes the lyric "hello Seattle". I love how all over the place this is and it really is a banger of a track :music:
  1. 11 Hello Seattle (Remix)
  2. 10 Fireflies
  3. 10 Umbrella Beach
  4. 10 Hot Air Balloon
  5. 10 Strawberry Avalanche
  6. 10 Vanilla Twilight
  7. 10 The Tip of the Iceberg
  8. 9.5 The Saltwater Room
  9. 9 Meteor Shower
  10. 9 Fireflies (Adam Young Remix)
  11. 9 Dental Care
  12. 8.5 If My Heart Was A House
  13. 8.5 Butterfly Wings
  14. 8 Tidal Wave
  15. 8 Hello Seattle
  16. 7.5 Cave In
  17. 8 Suburn
  18. 7.5 On the Wing

All Things Bright and Beautiful

http://assets.rollingstone.com/assets/images/album_review/3611e709acd36a069c391c93dacbfc2135dae6c7.jpg

(I won't be including January 28, 1986 (Intro to Galaxies) as it's not technically a song  )

16. 6.5 Hospital Flowers

This reminds me a lot of the recent album track from Mobile Orchestra, This Isn't The End. It's a nice track I guess, and I like the idea of having Adam's mother, Joan Young on backing vocals. I guess I enjoy this more if I'm really in the mood for it.

15. 7 Plant Life

Another plant related song  it sounds a lot like HF, but I ranked this higher because of the more upbeat feel to it I think. I love the lyric "I saw a bear in the den, reading my text books again"

14. 7.5 The Real World

The verses here sound kinda average but the choruses are great, and I might have given it an 8 if the verses were stronger. Reality is a lovely place, but I wouldn't wanna live there

13. 8 Kamikaze

This is quite an interesting track on the album, particularly because of how he seems to shout a lot on this, and it makes it quite a catchy song :P it's good to have something quite different to his usual sound.

12. 8.5 Lonely Lullaby

This one's a bit like Vanilla Twlilight part 2, which talks about an Anne-Marie (I think this was a girl Adam used to like at school once?) the vocal work in the chorus is something indeed *.*

11. 8.5 Shy Violet

What gets my attention in this one is where his vocals seem to prolong after each line, like it lifts up or something  it goes great with the drum-heavy production and keeps the album flowing :D

10. 8.5 How I Became the Sea

Oh look, it's another metaphorical song, how unusual for him :') again it's one of those songs with slightly average verses but the chorus really shines his vocals and I think it sounds comparable to Butterfly Wings from his previous album.

9. 9 Honey and the Bee

Breanne once again is invited to record vocals on Honey and the Bee. She's uncredited (as far as I know) despite having more of a part in this than The Saltwater Room. Again their vocals go perfect together  the guitar strumming really carries you like a spring afternoon with bees buzzing around :P

8. 9 Dreams Don't Turn to Dust

I often seem to compare the chorus of this song to the chorus of To the Sky :kink: I guess the chorus also seems to take similarities from The Real World as well? I think this one's got slightly old for me possibly due to overplayment, but it still gets my 9 :D

7. 9 Angels

Starting off with a chime and then Adam appears out of nowhere and shouts "wake me if you're out there!" which I think is brilliant. I love how he sings soft vocals in the verses and then the choruses suddenly raise the mood of the song, both with the loud production and his loud vocals.

6. 9.5 The Yacht Club (feat. LIGHTS)

The verses to this sound a lot like in Honey in the Bee (who also featured a female vocalist, Breanne) which didn't really warrant a 9.5 score, but the Umbrella Beach-like production is really addictive here :music: it's great to have LIGHTS feature vocals on here, the only track which she does so and the first collaboration the two have had.

5. 10 To the Sky

This track was recorded for the film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (which is a great film) and is, I believe the second song recorded for a movie after Sunburn. The "da da" parts are irresistable to sing along to and the video is so damn cute, just look at how Adam is dressed *.* again the use of guitar works incredibly well and the chorus is lush

4. 10 Deer in the Headlights

An old favourite here which hasn't really got old, and what I love is the first build up at the start of the song :music: I guess the verses are similar to ones in The Yacht Club. I love the lyrics, especially "if life was a game, you would never play nice, if love was a beam, you'd be blind in both eyes" :D again it's the loud production and vocal which makes me love this (and slay at LIGHTS making a cameo in the video!)

3. 10 Galaxies

I debated between giving this and DitH bronze position, but I think this just edges it with its dancy production once again :music: it's one of his most "obvious" Christian oriented songs, talking about hope and God, as well as science i.e. galaxies. Strings work incredibly well to his loud vocals and the bit I love the most about this song is the last verse before the final chorus: "oh telescope, keep an eye on my only hope" slay me

2. 10 Alligator Sky (No Rap version)

Missing #1 is the no rap version of the lead single from the album, Alligator Sky. I like that he decided to record a no-rap version of the track, whether or not you're a fan of rap it's good to hear how he sings the vocals to it :D

1. 11 Alligator Sky (feat. Shawn Chrystopher)

This has been my favourite Owl City song for years now, and it's not really because it incorporates rap, I do love the rap verses though, which is why I rank this version above the non-rap version. I guess it takes the string sound from Galaxies and the kind of style in Dreams Don't Turn to Dust. There's just magic throughout this song and it never seems to get old   also, the video seems to be a prequel to the end of DitH, where the DeLorean goes into the past and we see an astronaut :o

  2. 10 Alligator Sky (No Rap version)
  3. 10 Galaxies
  4. 10 Deer in the Headlights

  6. 9.5 The Yacht Club (feat. LIGHTS)
  7. 9 Angels
  8. 9 Dreams Don't Turn to Dust
  9. 9 Honey and the Bee
  10. 8.5 How I Became the Sea
  11. 8.5 Shy Violet

13. 7.5 Embers

The only track under a score of 8, but it's still good. It's not really that memorable hence the low ranking.

12. 8 Top of the World

This was included in the Japanese version of the album. I find the production reminds me of the classic Spyro soundtracks :P

11. 8 Silhouette

I used to underrate this one based on how it's not as loud and dancy as the rest of the album, but the chorus is actually rather beautiful

10. 8 Take It All Away

This track previously appeared on the Shooting Star EP. It's average-ish but I think the verses are what gives me persuasion to rank it top 10 :D

9. 8 Dreams and Disasters

Another rather good song, but not what I would consider one of the bigger highlights on the album. The verses are great, I think the chorus however "stretches" the words a bit too much though.

8. 9 Metropolis

I used to find the beginning bit and verses a slight non-event, but I thought I'd give this a 9 because of the chorus which combines his vocals and distant-sounding dance production rather well.

7. 9 Speed of Love

Now we're already getting to the 9/10s already :music: this one sounds very electronic but it works all the same!

6. 9 I'm Coming After You

"Woo, woo, woo, I'm coming after you" :P I like how Adam compares various police situations with his relationship with someone else here, but it's really catchy at the same time. The "woo" parts are rather fun to listen to

5. 9.5 Bombshell Blonde

Starting the top 5 is the iTunes bonus track which is I believe the only dubstep genre track Adam has attempted, which probably gets criticism but it's not just because I'm a dubstep fan but I also like that he gave a go at something different :D

4. 10 Dementia (feat. Mark Hoppus)

Another track that originated from the EP. He seems to shout for most of the song  I like the use of guitar and subtleness throughout and Mark's vocals are of course great with Adam's

3. 10 Gold

Also from the EP. I suppose the verses here are slightly comparable to Silhouette, and I do love the whistling in this one!

2. 10 Good Time (with Carly Rae Jepsen)

Owl City's second top 5 hit in the UK collaboration with Call Me Maybe star Carly Rae Jepsen. It was the lead single from the album due to the success of CMM and has over 200 million views on Youtube :o it's very pop-y and different from his usual sound but as I'm a fan of this kind of pop too I love it  the "woah" parts are especially infectious, I think overplayment has killed this only slightly though.

1. 11 Shooting Star

The title track from the EP at #1! :D many like to compare this to Katy Perry's Firework (including me :P) which I guess could be the only criticism I have for this track. I love the intro and the song is magical along with Adam's soothing vocals in the verses, and the chorus completes the song to the gem that it is  I especially love the night time streets setting in the video  It did manage to reach #176 in the UK charts which wasn't too bad I guess :P

  1. 11 Shooting Star
  2. 10 Good Time (with Carly Rae Jepsen)
  3. 10 Gold

The Midsummer Station - Acoustic EP

http://thesoundalarm.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Owl-City-The-Midsummer-Station-Acoustic-Artwork.jpg

5. 7 Good Time (Acoustic)

I like how the start of this sounds like the start of On The Wing :P It's good but something has to be last on the EP and for me it's this one. I think the vocals are quite boring and it sounds like Adam himself is bored especially when he sings the "woah" bit

4. 7.5 Shooting Star (Acoustic)

An acoustic version of this is suited well because of the piano sequence I guess, but I think the vocals as an acoustic make it sound a little boring, especially the "woah" which seems to work better in the original.

3. 8 Gold (Acoustic)

My favourite of the acoustic versions on the EP, I like the piano sequence throughout this  and how he says "gold" differently in this.

2. 8.5 Hey Anna

The start of this sounds very much like Ridiculously Happy (as Adam Young) which is already a good start :D It sounds like there's something missing in it, oh I still love it, but it's like it could have been a 9 if there was more to it, maybe?

1. 9 I Hope You Think Of Me

The chords sound great on this and it's just a really enjoyable song. It's not too loud or too quiet throughout. I seem to get some similarities with his ATBAB sound mixed with his TMS sound in here which seems to work :D

  1. 9 I Hope You Think Of Me
  2. 8.5 Hey Anna
  3. 8.5 Gold (Acoustic)
  4. 8 Shooting Star (Acoustic)
  5. 7.5 Good Time (Acoustic)

Decided to rank the tracks from this EP as well, even though two of them are included on Mobile Orchestra, Wolf Bite and Beautiful Times are sadly not (what were you thinking there Adam?)

4. 7 This Isn't The End

The lyrics are really sweet and I could give this a higher score just for that, but the song isn't really that much of a track. The choruses are quite good I guess.

3. 8.5 Up All Night

This track starts with a short piano intro and then goes into a kind of Ocean Eyes like sound and the verses sound a bit like Beautiful Times and it's quite a pleasant song, I think I hear some TMS sound in places too :D

2. 8.5 Wolf Bite

Another TMS-like track, but what I love in this is the dance breakdown after the verse :music: the "official video" visualiser thingy is fun but I think the visualisations are a bit hard on the eyes, but that's not really a concern as we're here to listen to the music :kink: the production seems to be later borrowed by Can't Live Without You on the following album.

1. 9 Beautiful Times (Feat. Lindsey Stirling)

What I like about this is that it kind of recreates Fireflies in some parts (the video especially!) his vocals really show passion and it makes a change from all the loud dancey songs from his last album. And Lindsey's (VioLindsey? :heehee:) violin parts sound great (more collabs plz ) unfortunately this didn't make the following album or impact the chart :(

  1. 1. 9 Beautiful Times (Feat. Lindsey Stirling)
  2. 2. 8.5 Wolf Bite
  3. 3. 8.5 Up All Night
  4. 4. 7 This Isn't The End

12. 6.5 Back Home (feat. Jake Owen)

This one was a bit underwhelming for me, while it's nice there's just not much too it really. And Jake Owen doesn't really bring much to the table.

11. 7 This Isn't The End

Brought into MO from UV :P

10. 7.5 Bird With A Broken Wing

What I like is the guitar strumming and how Adam takes breaks between lines during. I do like the choruses in this too.

9. 8 I Found Love

I like how the first bit builds up and Adam's vocals sound quite sweet here. I guess there's some similarities to Wolf Bite here but it's not as dancy.

8. 8 My Everything

This was the second single released after Verge and came with a music video. It's not really that eventful tbh, and it got old fairly quickly.

7. 8.5 Up All Night

Another track originating from UV :P

6. 8.5 Can't Live Without You

I enjoy listening to the chorus and the verses are good, I guess the production is very Wolf Bite (again lol)

5. 8.5 You're Not Alone (feat. Britt Nicole)

This heavy Christian-orientated track features female vocalist Britt Nicole and I kind of get similarities to the verses of Shooting Star in this one and maybe a bit of My Everything too. The emotional build up in the chorus is rather good so I give this a top 5 placing :D

4. 9 Unbelievable (feat. Hanson)

This track was the third single and what I love about this one is the lyrics all about the 90s and being a kid  the whistling is like in Gold, not as good however, and I like the child vocals towards the end. The chorus could be better though tbh!

3. 9 Thunderstruck (feat. Sarah Russel)

Another female collab now this time with Sarah Russel. This one has stronger vocals from both artists and the production is great :music: Sarah kind of reminds me of Breanne (who unfortunately doesn't lend any vocals on this album sadly :( ) and you know that I like her vocals in his songs :kink:

2. 9.5 Tokyo (feat. SEKAI NO OWARI)

Released on the Japan edition of the album, what I like about this is how similar the verses are to the verses on Good Time! That could also be a criticism but really who cares :P "Are you having fun yet?" well the chorus is certainly fun indeed :music:

1. 10 Verge (feat. Aloe Blacc)

The lead single from the album is #1 here :kink: It shows how strong the album isn't as it's the only 10 I felt fit to give (and didn't think it worthy of an 11) so I give this album my 2nd least favourite after MID. It's a brilliant tune of course, and Aloe's vocals do well in it. The video is a load of fun, about graduating after college or university and both chorus and verses are so easy and catchy to sing along to

  1. 10 Verge (feat. Aloe Blacc)
  2. 9.5 Tokyo (feat. SEKAI NO OWARI)
  3. 9 Thunderstruck (feat. Sarah Russel)
  4. 9 Unbelievable (feat. Hanson)
  5. 8.5 You're Not Alone (feat. Britt Nicole)
  6. 8.5 Can't Live Without You
  7. 8.5 Up All Night
  8. 8 My Everything
  9. 8 I Found Love
  10. 7.5 Bird With A Broken Wing
  11. 7 This Isn't The End
  12. 6.5 Back Home (feat. Jake Owen)

Back Home is the best on Mobile Orchestra  But swap that with Verge and I'd agree with the next 3 coming after it.

Shooting Star and Gold are a bit normal/underwhelming for me, Embers, Silhouette and Bombshell Blonde are the real highlights on Midsummer, I'm Coming After You too and while I didn't like Metropolis at first it's now one of my favourites there.

Alligator Sky is perhaps the one instance where I would count your winner among my OC faves. :kink: That's good but then pretty much all of that album except for Galaxies and Hospital Flowers is amazing. Particularly Angels and Honey And The Bee, the latter being my second most played OC track after Fireflies :o

I'm not too keen (in OC terms) on Hello Seattle in any incarnation, Cave In is a wonderful conceptual introduction to him actually, that's a standout. Great to see Tip Of The Iceberg so high, that's definitely one of his most well-constructed album tracks. And of course the big Ocean Eyes trio are flawless. And from the deluxe I really adore Strawberry Avalanche, If My Heart Was A House and Hot Air Balloon too.

I think the Ultraviolet EP is the one instance here where I would rank everything in the same order that you did. The top three of that one are all really strong for me, but 'This Isn't The End' remains one of my least favourite Owl City songs, just doesn't excite me as much as most of his other tracks. 'Bird With a Broken Wing' has always been, is currently, and probably always will be, my favourite song on Mobile Orchestra. It brings me to places. I agree with the chorus of 'Unbelievable' being a little... I don't wanna say weak cos it's real fun and stuff, but I think I've overrated that song previously.

Well done!

Yeah I noticed you don't always love the same songs by him  Yeah I agree with Metropolis, and of course Alligator Sky :yahoo: the Galaxies shade though? yes at TTotI and HAB love though

Hey, I've not finished yet! :kink:

  6. Ultraviolet (EP) (8.25)
  7. Maybe I'm Dreaming (8)
  8. Of June (EP) (7.21)
Album/EP Ranking (Based on most 10s + 11)
  1. Ocean Eyes (7)
  2. All Things Bright And Beautiful (5)
  3. The Midsummer Station (4)
  4. Mobile Orchestra (1)
  5. Maybe I'm Dreaming (none) ((highest 9.5))
  6. The Midsummer Station - Acoustic EP (none) ((highest 9)) (((lowest 7.5)))
  7. Ultraviolet (EP) (none) ((highest 9)) (((lowest 7)))
  8. Of June (EP) (none) ((highest 8))
Album/EP Ranking (Based on highest lowest score)
  1. The Midsummer Station (7.5) ((highest 11))
  2. The Midsummer Station - Acoustic EP (7.5) ((highest 9))
  3. Maybe I'm Dreaming (7) ((highest 9.5)
  4. Ultraviolet (EP) (7) ((highest 9))
  5. All Things Bright And Beautiful (6.5) ((highest 11))
  6. Mobile Orchestra (6.5) ((highest 10))
  7. Ocean Eyes (6)
  8. Of June (EP) (5.5)
Ranking a list of things based on the total average is usually the way to do it, but it's interesting to see how the ranks differ depending on the method used. TMS is the winner here with an average of 9 based on this ranking, and it also helps that it had had the highest lowest score (7.5 with Embers) and as the album is mostly electronic as a whole, which is my favourite genre of music, this would make sense. It appears as the #1 album in both of these rankings too!

ATBAB is #2 based on average and number of 10s (8.875 and 5 respectively), which is also good to see as it combines both his Ocean Eyes and electronic styles rather well (not to mention the rap experimental in Alligator Sky). Ocean Eyes is only #3 (separated by only 0.05) in the average rank, however it is #1 based on the number of 10s (7) which is still pretty impressive. The average was likely brought down by the less interesting tracks such as The Bird and the Worm (6) which also makes it the 2nd lowest album in terms of highest lowest score.

Mobile Orchestra finishes around mid-rank for all the ranks, but MID has some interesting ranks, as it was only 2nd to last by average but because the highest lowest score was 7 it makes it rank 3rd in said rank. As for the EPs, Of June finishes last on all three, unsurprisingly, whereas TMS Acoustic middles 2 of 3 ranks, but finishes 2nd impressively on highest lowest score (7.5), tying with TMS but only 2nd due to having a high of 9, whereas TMS had a high of 11 (but taking into account the Ep had only 5 tracks on it). Ultraviolet finishes low on 2 of 3 ranks but fourth based on highest lowest score (7).

COMING UP:
