Well, the itunes thread somwtimes goes a bit awry and I thought it could be good to have a thread where we can have a slightly off topic chart chat - so, if you want to discuss Lady GaGa vs Beyonce/Rihanna/Crazy Frog, or if Bray rhymes with Tray, then this is the place.

Enjoy.

:manson: Glad we cleared that up.

You asked for it.

Oh well, might as make the use of this post. :P Pitbull to score his third week at #1 with Example hopefully going to #1 the following week. If only Example had been released today, I'm sure it could well have been in contention for the no. 1 spot this time next week. :(

I have only heard the Example song once - its not been on the radio much so I think Pitbull could get a 4th week at #1 :o I love these long running #1s ^_^

Hitstastic >>> Fantastic :P

Mart!n > thick. Oops, did I miss the point?

:kink:

That does not rhyme :nono:

I'm not sure what to post in which thread now.

Anyway, I know everybody joking about it now, but seriously, about the rhyming thing, you get some lyrics in songs like this:

"stride You'll never slow the momentum at any moment

pride Killing the flow, slow venom and the opponent"

If you listen to the song, almost every syllable in the one line rhymes with its counterpart syllable from the other line.

There's the obvious ones, like "stride" rhyming with "pride", and "slow" rhyming with "flow".

But you've also got "and the" rhyming with "any", "opponent" with "moment", "venom" with "momentum", "never" with "the", "you'll" with "killing".

So I'm sure The Saturdays can rhyme "notorious" with "chorus" in their next single if they want. It's really quite a simple rhyme in comparison to some others I've seen tbh. I hope they were reading our discussion, because I think that would be quite a funny line!

I have always thought rhyming was ok when you have rhythm and the last word in each line sounds alike personally.

Yeah. You find pop stars usually just rhyme the last syllable. When rapping they try to rhyme more syllables, since it sounds better, and it makes the lyrics easier to memorize (if the rhymes are good enough you can sometimes memorize them without conciously trying to).

Even Ke$ha manages to two rhyme a whopping two words at the end of each line in Blah Blah Blah (i.e. live at => hit that => chit chat => dick's at; they all rhyme with "Kit Kat").

I don't really care where you live at

Just turn around boy, let me hit that

Don't be a little bitch with your chit chat

Just show me where your dick's at

At least she tries.

'Notorious' is one of the sh*ttest songs I've heard this year!!!

Is that comment acceptable in this thread? :kink:

Yeah, but then I hate Blah Blah Blah, pretty much for that verse. So if rhyming two words gives a sound like that (i.e: give a disjointed sounding rhyme) then music can stay away from that, thanks.

This is a fun thread. Partly because I remembered something I hate. I hate so little in current chart music that sometimes I feel like I'm spamming  smileys.

I guess. Before everybody else finds it anyweay.

I do actually like Notorious a lot though.

Personally, that was pretty much my favourite part of Blah Blah Blah tbh! :D The beginning bit is so awesome with just the clapping. And then those Mario beepy sounds come in and it get kinda overwhelming. :drama:

The Saturdays will never beat Up imo, but Ego and Work come close!

Missing You? Issues? Higher?

That and the 3 you mentioned are awesome.

I like Notorious, but even compared to If This Is Love and Forever Is Over, it's quite weak.

Higher actually - I forgot that one (the Flo Rida less version of course). As for the others - meh.
