August 27, 201214 yr Author Midweek Charts: Ora and Little Mix set for more chart-topping success Source: MW Paul Willams Rita Ora is heading to the top of the UK artist albums chart this weekend as 2011 X Factor winners Little Mix prepare for a second No 1 single. Having already led the singles countdown three times, once with DJ Fresh and twice in her own right, Ora is now on course to repeat the trick on albums with her newly-issued Columbia/Roc Nation debut Ora having opened up an 84% sales gap over its nearest rival, according to the Official Charts Company. There is a similar commanding lead being enjoyed at this stage of the week by Little Mix whose second Syco single Wings is poised to become their second UK No 1. It has so far this week sold more than twice as many copies as closest challenger, One More Tune/Stiff act Sam and the Womp with Bom Bom, which debuted at the top last Sunday. Both will be joined in the top five by the Interscope/Republic pairing of Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen whose Good Time has risen 17-3 at this point in the week to place it just ahead of Rita Ora's How We Do (Party), which drops 2-4. X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan is also among the top five singles sellers in the current midweeks with her self-penned Last Night, which she performed on the show. It has risen 70-5 but will finish in a much lower position on the final chart published on Sunday as it has now been removed from sale by iTunes and Amazon over programme bosses' demands not to give her an advantage over other contestants with this additional profile. There is a similar situation with her album Top Room At The Zoo, which is self released like the single and has risen 127-7 on the midweeks but is no longer available to buy from the two retailers. Ora and Spraggan are among five brand new arrivals to the Top 10 at this stage of the week, a list that also includes Fiction/Polydor act Elbow in second place with their newly-released B sides collection Dead In The Boot. Universal Republic/Island's Icelandic alternative act Of Monsters & Men are showing up as a new entry in third place with My Head Is An Animal, which has already been a substantial hit elsewhere, including reaching the Billboard 200 Top 10 and topping the aternative chart there, while Havoc And Bright Lights - Alanis Morissette's eighth studio album but first for Columbia - is new at eight. Having spent a second consecutive week at No 1 and fifth in total last Sunday, Virgin artist Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events drops to four in the midweeks, while Paloma Faith's RCA set Fall To Grace slips 2-5. Nonesuch/Warner Bros act Black Keys' El Camino leads a number of titles gaining because of last weekend's Reading and Leeds Festival, which was televised by BBC Three. Sales of the album are up 140% on the week as it climbs 7-6, while fellow performers Foo Fighters' Columbia-handled Greatest Hits rises 47-14 with sales up 163%. Other gainers from the festival include Island's Florence + The Machine with Ceremoials up 27-13 on a 46% sales increase, Kitsune's Two Door Cinema Club with Tourist History's sales up 315% to lift it 135-34, Red Bull's Twin Atlantic whose free rises 123-38 as sales increase 252% and Columbia acts The Vaccines and Kasabian. The Vaccines' What Did You Expect From The Vaccines is up 88-45 with a 140% sales increase, while Kasabian's Velociraptor progresses 102-47 as sales improve 153%. Asylum/Atlantic act Ed Sheeran's + and Syco signings One Direction's Up All Night complete the Top 10 places at this point in the week, moving 6-9 and 12-10 respectively, while Atlantic/Fueled By Ramen's Fun lift 35-12 as sales of Some Nights rise 96%. Outside the Top 10, there will be brand new artist album entries this Sunday from Mono-Ra-Rama's Noisettes, Interscope/Polydor's Slaughterhouse and Provogue's Robert Cray Band. Hip hop veterans Public Enemy are heading for their first UK Top 10 single with the Slamjamz-issued Harder Than You Think rising 11-6 following its exposure in a Channel 4 Paralympics promotion. Also in the latest midweek Top 10 are One More Tune/Warner Bros's Wiley featuring Ms D with Heatwave (down 3-7), Island act Florence + The Machine's Spectrum (6-8), Mercury signing Taylor Swift's We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together 5-9) and Emeli Sande's Virgin single Read All Aout It Pt 3 (4-10). Meanwhile, Fazer will follow N-Dubz colleagues Dappy and Tulisa by opening his solo chart account this Sunday with AATW/Island track Killer currently listed as a new entry at 12. =================================================== Wednesday Update Top 40 Only Source: Radio 1/OCC Top 40 Singles 1 Little Mix* (63k) 2 Sam & The Womp 3 Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen 4 Rita Ora 5 Lucy Spraggan* 6-10 6 Public Enemy 11-20 12 Fazer* 15 Of Monsters & Men 16 Elbow 21-30 21 fun. August 27, 201214 yr Author Midweek Charts update: Sande edges past Adele for top 2012 sales Source: MW by Paul Willams Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events has overtaken Adele's 21 to become the UK's biggest-selling artist album of the year so far. The Virgin release surpassed the XL-issued 21's total this week, having sold nearly 660,000 copies up to the end of business on Thursday, according to the Official Charts Company. Adele's album has shifted around 657,000 copies in the year to date and 4.4 million cumulatively. Polydor act Lana Del Rey's Born To Die is the third top artist seller of 2012 with Aslyum/Atlantic's Ed Sheeran fourth with + and the Parlophone-issued Mylo Xyloto by Coldplay fifth. However, all these albums have been outold by the EMI TV/UMTV compilation Now! 81 which, with more than 700,000 sales, is 2012's top seller overall. Sande's album, having spent a fifth non-consecutive week at No 1 last Sunday, is down to three in the midweeks, overtaken by two entries: Columbia/Roc Nation's Rita Ora in first place with Ora and Fiction/Polydor act Elbow's Dead In The Boot in second position. Icelandic band Of Monsters & Men's Universal Republic-issued My Head Is An Animal is currently showing up as a new entry at four, while Paloma Faith's RCA set Fall To Grace drops 2-5. The Top 10 also includes X Factor conetstant Lucy Spraggan's self-issued Top Room At The Zoo climbing 127-7and Alanis Morissette's Columbia debut Havoc And Bright Lights new at nine. Spraggan's track Last Night has climbed 70-6 on the latest midweek singles cart but will rank lower by the time of Sunday's final chart as it is no longer available to buy at leading digital outlets. Syco act Little Mix's second single Wings has already surpassed 75,000 sales on its way to deuting at the top of the singles chart on Sunday, while One More Tune/Stiff's Sam and the Womp are second with Bom Bom, having debuted at No 1 last Sunday. Rita Ora's How We Do (Party) slips 2-3, while two tracks move into the top five: Interscope/Republic's Good Time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen climbing 17-4 and the Slamjamz-issued Harder Than You Think by Public Enemy rising 11-5. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Friday Update Top 40 Only Singles 1 Little Mix (75k) 2 Sam & The Womp 3 Rita Ora 4 Owl City/Carly Rae Jepsen 5 Public Enemy Top 10 6 Lucy Spraggan Top 15 13 Of Monsters & Men Fazer Top 20 Elbow fun. August 27, 201214 yr Hope Rita Ora defies expectations and is a big first week seller, maybe 50k plus is possible!!
August 28, 201214 yr Author I approve of that subtitle! Agree with Bre, absolutely fantastic subtitle! I just couldn't resist it  === Anyhow twitter is your friend for midweeks for today, I suspect Lil' Muffins (Little Mix) have got the 1 in the bag. Rita Ora should bag herself a #1 in the album chart, I wouldn't be surprised if the top 3 albums are new entries with Emeli at #4, with OM&M #2 and Elbow #3.
August 28, 201214 yr Lucy Spraggle will be top 20 from sales before the track was pulled http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/x...ek-so-far-1552/
August 28, 201214 yr Author Little Mix are on Radio 1 with Fearne Cotton, might get a hint of any sales info.
August 28, 201214 yr Hardly any midweek info on Twitter however just spotted this - 3 Beat@3beatmusic #BeatDown @steveaoki & @AnggerDimas Ft. @IGGYAZALEA is at #35 in the UK Midweek Chart!! Get yours here ;) http://bit.ly/OjNO5L #SMASH
August 28, 201214 yr Bjorn Thomassen@bjornthomassen Little Mix at #1 in the singles midweeks - nearly 30k ahead of Lucy Spraggan at #2! Rita Ora set for #1 in the albums chart ahead of Elbow
August 28, 201214 yr I wonder how this will affect egos in the XF live stages and the judges house if Lucy already has a number 2 single and a top 40 album which will probably happen judging by how poor those sales are atm.
August 28, 201214 yr It'll be interesting to see how far 'Last Night' falls during the week now. It's had 2 full days of sales for this week, and will have 4 1/2 days without. Little Mix / Rita Ora for #1 on the two charts by Sunday. Hoping to see Of Monsters and Men bag a top 5 album and hopefully climb into the top 15 officially (currently #15 combined).
August 28, 201214 yr So glad Little Mix are #1. There isn't a better start to a music career than two consecutive #1's. Happy for them, because the song IS actually good. And not just some club song.
August 28, 201214 yr Author Someone on popjustice said that Little Mix are just over 50k and are 30k ahead of #2. === Seems plausible, if they are 30k ahead of #2, which matches the previous post.. If Lucy is on sales of 20k that should get her at least top 15 - 18ish surely, before the track was deleted. If Simple Plan got 23k for a #12 last week. Not sure if the track is still selling on Amazon though.
August 28, 201214 yr If Little Mix are on 50k in sales then they are set for similar sales to Sam and the Womp and Rita Ora - the pre orders push it to 50k alone which just goes to show that pre-orders vs OA/OS singles OA/OS wins hands down imo!! Sales would be much more with an early release like Call me Maybe earlier this year!!
