I'm here, SevenSeize.
About time someone set up a topic about this First time Channel 4 will be covering the three-day Aintree meeting. Exciting few days ahead. For each-way punters Ladbrokes, William Hill, Coral, Blue Square pay out the first four home. Paddy Power, Boylesports, Sky Bet and bet365 pay out the first five home and BetVictor pay out the first six home Got 4th with Cappa Bleu last year. I'll be going for him again and Teaforthree and possibly Balthazar King. Only got 1 winner at Cheltenham with Solwhit in the World Hurdle. How was people's Cheltenham Festival for them? |

Big shame about Battlefront who collapsed at the Foxhunters Chase over the National fences. Don't forget it wasn't the National fences that caused the heart attack to happen.

Don't forget it wasn't the National fences that caused the heart attack to happen. The national news tonight didn't even try to hide their hate for the national. I've been to point-to-points where the fences are half the size, and horses still die. It's like they seem to think that the only way a horse can die is if it falls in the national. |

i love the national!! The only horse race in the year I bet on and really looking forward to Saturday! Its a shame there are very vocal anti groups who are picking up on the horse collapsing on the first amateur race and im hoping their sustained pressure wont have an impact. The course is already shorter and fences easier!

I have Colbert Station and Treacle in the work sweep - might have a chance of being in the cash for once!

Always a good start to look at the course and distance statistics if you have no clue who to go for. I'm missing the race for the first time in ages this year so I'm not paying as much attention to trying to win it as usual. I always say it's better to go with an outsider though, as the race is complete luck.
Not quite sure why everyone is going crazy for Seabass. I've seen a few people "tip it" so perhaps that's why. I've got a shortlist of 8 horses so far, that I need to whittle down to 4. |

Big up to Sprinter Sacre, amazing horse (and to Cue Card for a great run too)
RIP Battlefront and Little Josh We'll really have to hope for the best tomorrow. Any fatalities in the big race could potentially put its future in jeopardy (or at least its current format - a reduction to 30 runners is possible) |

Indeed, a fantastic performance from Sprinter Sacre. What a horse he is. The Frankel of jump racing and also again a good run from Cue Card.
Shame about Little Josh Good horse he was. Winner of the 2010 Paddy Power Gold Cup at the Open meeting at Cheltenham. And also a winner over the National fences in December in the Grand Sefton Chase. I really hope everything goes all right tomorrow. Possibly reducing it to 30 runners is a good idea. QUOTE Not quite sure why everyone is going crazy for Seabass. I've seen a few people "tip it" so perhaps that's why Reason for everyone going crazy for Seabass is because Katie Walsh is riding him and the possibity of her becoming the first female jockey to win the Grand National. Tonight Channel 4 has got: How To Win The Grand National at 8pm and Alan Carr's Grand National Specstacular at 9pm. Don't think this year's Grand National will have a tight finish as last year's was. I've decided to go for £5 each way (big spender ) on Colbert Station at 14/1. Wasn't going to follow the crowd and put money on Seabass.
Also got a free £10 bet with Sky so lumped that on Lost Glory at 50/1. This post has been edited by Oliver: 6th April 2013, 12:54 PM |

I've got £3 each way on CHICAGO GREY. Don't ask why, just went for it. Love the National, and really like horse racing, but I'm not gonna pretend I really know anything about it.

2nd and 3rd, Cappa Bleu and Teaforthree. Great to see everyone is safe and well. A great race to watch. I thought Channel 4 did a great job with how they covered the Grand National.
