Posted October 2, 201311 yr http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/90/Chapman_as_Brian.jpg To lighten up proceedings what are your favourite comedy films?? Including rom-coms, particular characters and anything that really makes you giggle. As always feel free to rate however you choose, request/recommend films, share particular scenes, but above all make us LAUGH.
October 2, 201311 yr Author HMnVs287AJ4 01. Airplane! (1980) 02. Monty Python: The Life of Brian (1979) 03. Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (2006) 04. Superbad (2007) 05. The Apartment (1960) 06. Juno (2007) 07. The Kids Are All Right (2010) 08. Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) 09. Anchorman (2005) 10. Up in the Air (2009) Real rough list off the top of my head. Notable nods to the other Monty Pythons, 'Sideways', 'Dodgeball', 'Some Like it Hot', 'Austin Powers', 'Ferris Bueller', 'The Big Lebowski'... Basically too many to mention but that's what the thread is for to keep revisting. Not necessarily a list of the films I find the funniest (although the top 4 is pretty spot on for that) more of a combination of that alongside how much I enjoy watching them & whatever else they offer.
October 2, 201311 yr Airplane is of course amazing, but Airplane II is also INCREDIBLE, not least because of the presence of The Shatner Gf_kjwOSjGI
October 3, 201311 yr Leap Year >>>> all other movies. Like, seriously. http://s11.postimg.org/alfz3qke9/tumblr_msj8zr_V8_AD1ra1skso1_250.gif Most of my movie collection is comedy, so doing a top 10 is so difficult :drama: but I'll have a go: 01. Leap Year (even though we only get a very brief shot of topless Matthew Goode-ness) 02. Raising Helen 03. Mannequin (My mother recommended this to me a while back, I am so glad she did) 04. The Back-Up Plan 05. Julie & Julia 06. 13 Going On 30 07. The Shrink Is In 08. Confessions Of A Shopaholic 09. The Proposal 10. Date Night http://s9.postimg.org/700j1m3hb/tumblr_kza6psge_VW1qar8ra.png
October 3, 201311 yr Oh no! I actually don't know what my favourite comedies are! Gonna have a look at what I own and what I've seen this last year and get back to you. 'We're the Millers' is more than likely to be there! Best comedy film I've seen this year, by a long way. I think my ultimate comedy film is 'Shaun of the Dead' though <3
October 3, 201311 yr ^Amen to that! My list probably goes something like: 01. Shaun of the Dead (As I said in horror, a shining example of both genres) 02. Airplane 03. Johnny English (SAY WHAT YOU WANT, I love Mr Bean and this has a lot of the same charm with an added dose of Spy thrills) 04. Hot Fuzz 05. The Simpsons Movie 06. The Room (This can't class as anything else surely? Oh hi mark  ) 07. Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Too Afraid To Ask 08. Some Like It Hot 09. Naked Gun (first one) 10. Ali G Indahouse (I liked it as a child  ) Not including animations of course, which I probably found hysterical when I was younger. Hmm, I like comedies, but its quite rare I come across one that isn't hit-and-miss. I could never get into Borat for some reason, I found him more annoying than funny. edit: forgot Dumb & Dumber & The Hangover argh! Edited October 3, 201311 yr by Chez Wombat
October 3, 201311 yr In no particular order: Top Secret - Val Kilmer has never been better Young Frankenstein - will have to find the clip with Gene Hackman High Anxiety Blazing Saddles (I know its politically incorrect but what the hell!) Airplane Naked Gun National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation National Lampoon's Animal House The Blues Brothers Kind Hearts & Coronets Father of the Bride (Spencer Tracey one) The Man With Two Brains All of Me 1941 Teacher's Pet
October 3, 201311 yr *stereotypical Buzzjack response klaxon* You absolutely cannot beat Pitch Perfect, Bridesmaids and Mean Girls!
October 3, 201311 yr Funniest film ever for me is Bringing Up Baby. Nothing better than '30s screwball - so quick-witted and bizarre. *cue tumbleweed* Other faves include Down with Love (SO underrated - Renee's monologue is INSPIRED), Mean Girls (obviously), I <3 Huckabees, Easy A, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Some Like It Hot. Yeah, I just looked at my main DVD shelf.
October 3, 201311 yr Never seen Mean Girls, never intend to either, it looks awful  http://25.media.tumblr.com/9e397ce1b3db6ebfb87965123bc73a82/tumblr_mt7kx548ph1re59abo1_1280.gif

October 3, 201311 yr http://s24.postimg.org/3xyfx2ffp/tumblr_llgr0dra_KW1qzfgqqo1_500.gif I guess I haven't learned how to GAY properly
October 3, 201311 yr Your name is Regina and you refuse to watch Mean Girls?! THATS LIKE AGAINST THE RULES OF FEMINISM.
October 3, 201311 yr OMG CHEZ another Johnny English fan *.* It got pretty bad reviews, but its such fun and hilarious at points! Particularly the funeral and hospital scenes  (that sounds horrible, but you'd understand if you know the film) Edited October 3, 201311 yr by Chez Wombat
October 4, 201311 yr It got pretty bad reviews, but its such fun and hilarious at points! Particularly the funeral and hospital scenes  (that sounds horrible, but you'd understand if you know the film) Oh I totally agree, though my scene(s) of choice are the entire run from them flying over Sauvage's building to the reception where he gets fired. In fact from there on the film is non stop brilliant (even the obvious toilet humour works because Rowan has enough gravitas to stop it being cheap)
October 4, 201311 yr I'm not a fan of slapstick comedy like American Pie or Van Wilder, but I love a good dark comedy, romcom, or comedy drama. I'd say these are my favourites, but I have loads so the list will probably change: 01 The First Wives Club (1996) 02 Father of the Bride (1991) 03 Mermaids (1990) 04 28 Days (2000) 05 Miss Congeniality (2000) 06 Beetlejuice (1998) 07 Heathers (1988) 08 Mean Girls (2004) 09 Wayne's World (1992) 10 School of Rock (2003)
