Posted January 10, 201411 yr i'd never heard of her but apparently she used to be rootsy folky but she is back with a new sound and new hair. 'cut your teeth' is EXCELLENT: jakwob produced fyi here is her hair: 01 Cut Your Teeth 02 Mala 03 Cannibals 04 I Don't Hate You 05 White Doves 06 I'll Call You 07 The Knife 08 Fly 09 Never That Young 10 Get It 11 Big Eyes 12 Make Me Pay 13 Raise the Dead 14 Lyssa
January 10, 201411 yr I have been anticipating her return for a while, would have made a topic if I'd remembered over the excitement. This still feels very much within her comfort zone, even with a few more production add-ons, which is good, her debut album was pretty excellent! Still very pleased with Cut Your Teeth, I expect to be playing this quite a bit now.
January 10, 201411 yr "Walk Through Walls" is amazing, I love this on first listen, I like the build up throughout the track
January 26, 201411 yr This song needs more loving! It's wonderfully infectious and I've been trying to get it out of my head since I first listened to it. I hope this is a sign of what her album will be like.
January 28, 201411 yr I'm getting Lorde vibes from this, but this is SO much better. Hopefully it can do something.
June 6, 201411 yr So did anyone else get this then? I really quite like it, although it has taken a few plays for some of the hooks to begin to sink in. I liked moments of her debut (especially the singles) but this is a better record on the whole for me, at times it's like Kate Bush is singing tracks from the Knife's Deep Cuts.
June 6, 201411 yr I did, there's some really nice production on it and her voice is lovely. Much more captivating than her debut (which I liked) for me.
June 6, 201411 yr I'm meaning to get this, 'The Knife' is really hitting me right now, and well, half of Ashes is still very essential for me. Will be the next album I download now I've been reminded it's out, and I will report back.
June 6, 201411 yr She delayed it for FAR too long, I'd practically forgotten all about it and the hype has certainly all but gone now. It's coming for that Siobhan Donaghy 'Ghosts' style undeserved flop - which actually, is a pretty good comparison sonically also.
June 6, 201411 yr On first listen it's a solid album! Really liking it! 'Cut Your Teeth' is just as wonderful as ever!
June 6, 201411 yr Just finished listening to it. Nothing quite as strong as the single version of 'Heavy Stone' or 'Vampire Smile' but I wasn't quite expecting that as a) those would be incredibly hard to top after one listen and b) with the electronic direction she's gone they're obviously going to be a bit unfamiliar and those were some of the more folksy songs on Ashes (or not on Ashes in the former's case). 'The Knife', 'I Don't Hate You', 'Get It' and 'Fly' are the highlights and I'm sure I'll grow into the rest of it. Shame it's gone so unnoticed though.
