Not wanting the rough, just the smooth

20. Melanie Blatt - See Me | Average Score: 3.346 | Highest Rates : 7.5 (Liam), Lowest Rates: 0 (Jester, Kyliefan '14)

At #20 and by no means a surprise is the first of the solo singles to drop and that is Melanie Blatt's "Do Me Wrong" which did gain a lot of non rates, but the scores it did receive weren't very high, well in fact really poor, as is this effort from her, after her debut album got completely scrapped 2 years before after getting dropped by London Records, this was her last ditch attempt at capturing her All Saints former glory and written for the digital animated hit "Robots" which was a big success, but sadly this wasn't by limping into the UK charts at #78 and therefore ending her career.

But you kill me from a distance

19. Melanie Blatt - Do Me Wrong | Average Score: 4.625 | Highest Rates: 8 (Liamshikari27, ThePensmith), Lowest Rates: 0 (Jester)

At #19 is another Melanie Blatt solo single to drop leaving only her collaboration with Artful Dodger left in the running. However this was her first official solo single released in August 2003 and peaked at #18 on the UK charts causing her to be dropped by the record company and the release of her debut album was scrapped and the next planned single "Blue" was later included on Amelia Lily's debut album "Be A Fighter". This did manage a higher average than her other single, but still not very high rates with 11 scores 5 or under.

Gonna feel my love

18. Daddy O (Feat Wideboys) | Average Score: 5.294 | Highest Rates: 10 (AaronTM), Lowest Rate: 0 (Jester)

At #18 and another solo single, this time by Shaznay Lewis featuring The Wideboys and released in May 2008 and peaked at #32 on the UK singles chart. Not really much to say about this, it's the first to score a 10 on this countdown and did manage a few high scores, but was brought down by six scores under 5. Really not a bad song and a lot better than half of the solo output from the All Saints.

Every bright smile reminds me of you

17. Shaznay Lewis - You | Average Score : 5.343 | Highest Rates: 11 (Mike Sugafan), 10: (Xtine), Lowest Rates: 0 (Jester)

At #17 is another Shaznay Lewis track "You" released in October 2004 as the 2nd and final single from her debut album "Open" and charted at a low #56 in the UK charts and pretty much sealing her fate, solo career wise as she ended up being the final member of the group to get dropped from their record label. Honestly I do find this song very much underrated and releasing it 2nd was a big mistake, maybe she should have went with something more uptempo for the 2nd single, and then released this 3rd. "Mr Dawg" was planned as the follow up single, but was cancelled due to this underperforming.

Will wipe the rain of yesterday

16. Appleton - Everything Eventually | Average Score: 5.441 Highest Rate: 10 (ThePensmith), Lowest Rates: 0 (Liamshikari27)

At #16 I couldn't find the official music video on Youtube so I posted the TOTP performance instead, it's the first of the Appleton sisters singles "Everything Eventually" released in July 2003 as the 3rd and final single from their debut album "Everything's Eventual". This didn't match the success of the previous 2 singles which both reached top 5 by peaking at #38 on the UK charts and selling only 5,000 copies during the low sales climate of that era and despite the album reaching top 10 and earning a gold disc, that wasn't enough for the record label as they also found themselves dropped. It's also worth noting that this song was originally titled "The Day Before", about the day before 9/11, but was changed to this.

Expected but sad to see 'Everything Eventually' go. I genuinely believe in the hands of any other act - Madonna or Melanie C spring to mind immediately, such was the comparisons made between those two acts and most of the material on its parent album - this would have been a lot bigger than it was.

But the press were, wrongly or rightly, eternally on Nat and Nic's case in their duo career days, probably because of their public portrayal in the band the first time round. I remember the unbridled glee of several tabloid gossip columns when the midweeks for 'Everything Eventually' were leaked.

Fingers crossed 'Fantasy' and 'Don't Worry' are a bit higher up. And I loved 'Do Me Wrong' - bought it from HMV in Edinburgh whilst on holiday in Scotland for my 14th birthday! This was a Xenomania co-write incidentally, it's a good blueprint for their vanity act Mania's 'Looking for a Place' which came along a year later.

15. All Saints - Chick Fit | Average Score: 5.722 | Highest Rates: 10 (***), Lowest Rates: 0/-1 (Liamshirkari27, Kyliefan '14)

At #15 is the first of the All Saints singles to drop "Chick Fit" they're most recent and final single released to date, taken from their 3rd album "Studio 1" and was intended to be released in February 2007 as the album's 2nd single, but was actually cancelled due to poor sales of the album, so it wound up a promo download only release to cut costs and due to this became their lowest charting single missing the top 200 altogether. Not one of their finer moments and definitely stands as their worst single ever and honestly if it did get released I doubt it would have done well. Album track "On and On" would have been a much better choice, but given their circumstances at the time, I doubt it would have made any difference. This didn't fair too badly with the scores and did manage a 10 and quite a few 8's, but this is the only All Saints single with a 5 average.

'Chick Fit' is good! It's edgy, it's different, it's catchy.

Nothing stood a chance after the album limped in at #40, that gave them so much bad publicity that there was no rescuing it.

I quite enjoy Chick Fit really, not their best but it was a very undeserved flop imo.

14. All Saints - All Hooked Up | Average Score: 6.447 | Highest Rates: 10 (Xtine), Lowest Rates: 1 (Liamshikari25), 2: (fgi09505)

At #14 we lose another All Saints single "All Hooked Up" released in January 2001 as the 3rd and final single from their 2nd album "Saints And Sinners" and was their last single for 5 years before splitting up. This became their 8th top 10 hit in the UK peaking at #7, not as successful as the previous singles which both topped the charts. Elsewhere it didn't have much impact apart from hitting top 20 in Ireland, it charted in 3 other countries New Zealand, Netherlands and Swiss making small dents in each country. There were promo copies of "Surrender" sent out early in 2001, meaning that it was gonna be the 4th single if the band had not split. I do actually like this song, sure it's not one of they're strongest efforts, but it's fun and has a good hook to it.

What's about to go down

13. Appleton - Fantasy | Average Score : 6.666 | Highest Rates: 10 (Acidburn, JosephStyles), Lowest Rates: -1 (fgi09505)

At #13 is Appleton's debut single "Fantasy" released in September 2002 and taken from their first and only album "Everything's Eventual" and reached #2 on the UK singles charts, making this the biggest and highest charting of any of the All Saints solo singles. Again I had to upload a live video as none of their music videos seem to be on youtube, This is still a great and very underrated song and did manage several high scores on here with 2 10's, along with a 9 and 5 8's. This didn't make much impact outside the UK by charting in Netherlands at #39 and a low peak of #56 in Australia.

You're gonna have to love me day and night

12. Melanie Blatt (Ft Artful Dodger) - TwentyFourSeven | Average Score: 6.676 | Highest Rates: 9 (*Ketalina*, ThePensmith), Lowest Rates: 4 (Mr Aly)

At #12 is the last of Melanie Blatt's solo releases to feature here and it's her most successful one, released in September 2001 and features UK garage act Artful Dodger who were very big at the time and reached #6 on the UK charts, the track features on their album "It's All About The Stragglers", but was featured with a different vocalist Nicole on that version. This was the 6th release from that album and 5th to reach the top 10. Since this song was recorded before All Saints had split, it was decided that this would be included on their greatest hits album "All Hits".

Loved 'Fantasy' and 'Twentyfourseven', both great records. The video for the former in particular is one of my favourites - albeit the extended version when they're walking down a subway after the gig. I had the Artful Dodger album that Mel's version of 'Twentyfourseven' was on, wonderfully chilled out number.
