Release Date: 14 August, 2015

Surprised there isn't a topic about this yet, starring Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer, based on the 60s TV series of the same name starring Robert Vaughan (Hustle) and David McCallum (NCIS). I think this is shaping up to be one of the best movies of the summer, I love the backdrop to it, the 60s era. Really looking forward to watching this, as I'm a big fan of the original TV series. I hope this is the beginning of a new franchise, with more movies to follow at a later date. Originally Tom Cruise was cast for the role of Napoleon Solo but dropped out to film M:I - Rogue Nation.

Guy Ritchie is writing the script for the next Sherlock Holmes movie. Also Henry Cavill has been tipped to play the next Bond (source: imdb).

So excited for this, the movie looks amazing and I absolutely adore everyone in that cast, especially Elizabeth Debicki and Armie Hammer wub.gif Also I don't know why but I have a feeling the reviews for this are going to be really good.

One of the best movies I have seen this summer, it had everything a good plot, 2 hot girls, lots of car chasing scenes, pretty much non stop action right from the start never a dull moment with some dry humour chucked in. I was expecting the dry cleaners at some point, but never happened. One thing missing, small cameo roles for Robert Vaughan and David McCallum, just for continuity somehow but given its a fresh new start to the franchise you can't really fault the film, totally recommend it even if you never seen the TV series. Henry and Armie as Solo and Kurykin fitted nicely together couldn't even pick better actors to take the roles on. Its all set up for a sequel at some point, probably 2018 since Henry Cavill is tied up with the Justice League movies.

This certainly beats Fantastic Four by a landslide victory.

Most people won't know the cool 60's fun spy TV show which made a star of David (NCIS) McCallum as Russian agent Ilya Kuriakin. Guy Ritchie does a bang-up job with the 60's flair (a whole potentially tiresome battle invasion action sequence is done split-screen 60's TV style in a minute) and style, the action sequences are great, the cast fab-gear (Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer proving they can easily do light romp and character roles), and for old fans it's a treat. There's also a cool obscure soundtrack in support. For me it's Ritchie's best film, and the female roles are equally good (Alicia Vikander, and Elizabeth Debicki as a ruthless bitchy villain). Bung in Hugh Grant as senior supporting actor and you get 8/10....

Went in with the lowest expectations I've gone to a movie for in a long time, the trailer was so boring I even wanted to turn that off, I was not expecting to enjoy a two hour film and I only went because the rest of the familly went but boy was I wrong. I'd say this is my fourth favourite movie of the year behind two blockbusters which are just my cuppa tea (Jurassic World and Ant-man) and one of the main contenders for best kids film of all time (Home, lol jk, Inside Out), this was thrilling all the way through and felt even too short by the end, I definitely could've done with more.

All the plot twists and big reveals were so exciting, I was just in constant 'no way' mode in my head, was not expecting all the twists and turns really. Also the four main characters were all played fantastically, Cavill felt very charismatic in his role and although a little cocky I still really liked him and how he really was a nice guy like not wanting to shoot Illya at the end. Hammer's character was built up excellently too. The girls were excellent too, Debicki played a fantastic sadistic villain who you really just wanted to slap and Vikander's character was really charming too, not hard to see how she was able to play about everyone with her charm. Really excited to see what she can do in the future, it's upped my hype for the Danish Girl and Cavill's performance has upped my hype for Batman vs Superman too, I always find DC movies a bit dark but if actors are this charismatic it can never really be a bad movie.

On a side note, this cost us £15.40 each to see in IMAX, rip local Cineworld that charges me £6.90 on a weekend.

I had no desire to see this from the trailer and it only went onto my consideration list because of Josh's review above. Saw it this afternoon with a convenient showtime after work.

Amusing in places, Armie Hammer was my main highlight and it showed promise at the start but I didn't come away feeling really glad that I'd seen it. By the end I was feeling a bit lost and it really struggled to hold my interest.
