Maybe someday I'll try and fill in those gaps ^ There's other Steps books I don't own from the 90s/00s, but I'm not too fussed about those. I should probably get Claire Richards' autobiography at some point! A big gap in my collection is Steps VHS and/or DVDs of their tours from their heyday.

April 20, 20214 yr Author What an incredible collection, Ghosty! :wub: It seems like you own everything there is to own, in terms of UK releases? When it comes to their singles, I will always think that it's a bit of a shame that they were inconsistent with whether they'd just release one CD or do a two CD set. Heartbeat/Tragedy clearly did amazingly with one CD format, but I would have loved for there to be a second CD with Tragedy video themed artwork. I also feel the same for When I Said Goodbye/Summer of Love. Summer of Love is such a colourful, summery and uptempo bop - it was worthy of more suitable artwork. The shot from the When I Said Goodbye is pretty much the antithesis of Summer of Love's mood lol. I don't think it was a great decision to make When I Said Goodbye the "main" song from that Double A Side... I'd say that Summer of Love went on to be the more celebrated song in the fan base, and more well known to the public. Beyond those two singles, the other releases that only had one CD are - 5,6,7,8, After the Love Has Gone, Say You'll Be Mine/Better the Devil You Know (this did have two CDs, but bizarrely they were different formats with the same track listing), Deeper Shade of Blue, Stomp, It's the Way You Make Me Feel, Words Are Not Enough/I Know Him So Well. I always wonder what made labels decide "this single only requires 1 CD" and "let's make this one a two CD set"... it's so inconsistent!
April 20, 20214 yr Thanks Jay. I probably am missing a fair few UK releases, but it was my aim to try and get the vast majority of the officially released formats in the UK. It's certainly an interesting talking point with regards to the decision to release one CD single or two, and I agree, it is a shame that so many of their releases had just the one CD single - it probably would have got them at least another number one hit with It's The Way You Make Me Feel had there been 2 CDs, and elevated some of the others to more deserving chart positions than they achieved. I can't figure out what influenced the decisions myself. Apart from 5,6,7,8, all of the singles should have had 2 CD treatment - one with a b-side and instrumental and one with remixes.
