More success for afrobeats (and in particular Nigerian) artists this week wirth Rema looking to get his first top 40 hit with Calm Down. The track has been hanging around the video streaming charts for a while but has properly blown up thanks to a remix with Selena Gomez.

Really loving this too, a chill bop music.gif Rema's feature on FKA twigs' album was a highlight of that record for me, so it's great to see him scoring a hit with this.

The cover art is weird with the bear on the metro.

I keep forgetting Rema was on that FKA twigs mixtape oops (not helping that the song wasn't one of my faves from it although it did grow on me).

This is SUCH an earworm wub.gif definitely the best afrobeat UK top 40 hit this year (a niche bracket but still).

Finally listened to the Selena remix and the original song is actually coming back to me a bit (I could see from my YouTube history that I had listened to the original earlier in the year but had no memory of it lol) - enjoyed it more on this listen anyway and actually quite here for Selena's contribution to the remix too, she's not the first person to come to mind as a good choice for a feature on an afrobeats remix but it works surprisingly well.
