Kenya is already teasing a follow-up single and she has a distinct sound. I hope her team are smart with the rollout and don’t hang on to this song for months on end. She definitely has an engaged fanbase, which is more promising than most TikTokers who suddenly become big.

I'm the opposite, wishing for new music soon but not too soon
I mean Strangers is #2 and could be #1 in next week or in 2 weeks
no need to release a followup now

Hmmm I think she should have strike whilst the iron is hot but this is still rising and about to go #1?
I would have held off another 4-6 weeks at least to make sure it doesn’t get lost.

that's a bit of a bad timing imho you don't release your brand new single on the one week you're fighting for #1

I think the song has a strong chance of doing well on TikTok, because she started teasing it before "Strangers" and people loved it. She originally planned to release this song first, before signing to her label. I would have waited 3-4 weeks longer, but most viral songs don't have a follow-up for 6 months, so fair play to them for moving on.

Interesting strategy, interested to see how that one plays out.

Hopefully she doesn't go the way of Eliza Rose, a quickfire second hit will help against that.

I think it's great that Kenya's striking the iron while it's hot. Eliza Rose waited way too long and lost any sort of TikTok hype and following she had after BOTA.

And fingers crossed for #1 next week!

I feared Kenya would be a one-hit wonder, because labels fail all the time to develop artists with TikTok songs by focusing on the one song for six months. However, her success feels more organic, especially since she had a fanbase already and hasn't released multiple versions of the song to force it up the charts.

I think it’s the perfect time. Strangers is still going strong so it could help this do decently for a follow up! I’ve heard the snippet, it sounds good but not as good as strangers. Fingers crossed this makes her not a one hit wonder!

Many acts are releasing music merely weeks apart these days. Imma separate the threads out though so the success of this can be discussed separately

I really think both her songs are more 'pop' than dance

Kenya's two songs + ("Meteor", "Afterparty Lover", and "Oranges") are much better than the generic dance music that certain producers are allowed to release. I'm glad she was given the chance because she is great!

This fell a bit flat on first listen for me, hoping it grows because I love Strangers so much.

Well, with Strangers riding high with a 3rd week at #1 confirmed today I guess it was a little too soon for this to come out.

I was hoping it could pull a Mimi Webb. When dumb love made top 15 alongside good without still in the chart. It’s such a chill bop I think I actually like it more than strangers! Hope it will get its moment but I fear it won’t 🥲
