It's a backing track. You can tell that. She's singing over the top of the backing track!

Exactly! Its a backing track. And backing tracks are like backing singers.

Oh please there wasn't even a change in volume when her mouth closed and these "backing singers" were heard. She then started singing again and, oh same level of volume as if she never stopped ;)
I can't believe this did she or did she not mime is still going on. We could talk for ages on whether she mimed or not, but it's quite deluded to think that her performance was not mimed to some degree. She definitely messed up towards the end, and that gace it away. But the 'vocal performance' was co crisp that even someone whose been in the profession for tens of years could not give a performance as good as that was led to be perceived as. It's impossible. She DEFINITELY 100% mimed to some degree.

I agree with you to some extent, I have a feeling that the first two choruses were perhaps mimed. You can hear her breathe in the first verse heavily though, and she messes up later by doing what I think is the wrong adlib

However, I take issue with that 'bit at the end' - 3.27 when she 'stops singing but the vocal carries on' - that's how we know it WAS live!

Because she sings 'yeah the bad boys are alwayssss..' and it seems like she's going to leave it there for the line, the backing track carries on and then as the camera switches angle (so we can no longer see Alex's face clearly) she decides to start singing again.

So the backing track goes:

yeah the bad boys are always catching my eye

and Alex goes:

YEAH THE BAD BOYS ARE ALWAYS (cat)CHING MY EYE

It looks dubious because of the change of camera, but watch it and I'm sure you'll agree. That part was not a cock up, more Alexandra taking a breath I guess..

I liked Robbie's performance more than Alexandra's :( If i hadn't visited this thread i'd not have known that her performance was mimed, but now i see :o

I still don't think Alexandra mimed her performance. I think the "woo" bit was more of an expression, rather than an attempt at singing and when she 'forgets' to 'mime' the second half of the line it's clearly the backing track and not the same as the vocals she'd been giving. I'm not sure how to explain the difference but the rest of her singing seemed much louder and less edited than that line, so I agree with Adam.

I've watched it over and I can't find any bits that I think show signs of miming. I guess the first half of the performance is a lot more polished than the second half, but that could be down to her doing less dancing towards the start. If she was miming parts of it, it's certainly the most convincing mime job I've ever seen.

It's more the fact that you cannot give vocals as good as that and dance at the same time. I refuse to believe it, as it is near enough impossible. The vocals sounded too polished imo, and for me anyway it is likely she pre-recorded the live vocals, and then added little bits so she could sing live as well as I don't think she wanted to mime, but it's more of a case she had to.

To be honest, it was her first ever performance (after Hallelujah), so it doesn't surprise me that she mimed. It's just like when artists mime at the World Cup for example, they don't want to fukk up in front of billions.

Robbie has blogged about his X-Factor performance. I knew there was something wrong with those doors at the beginning

X-FACTOR...

I wasn't as nervous as i thought i was going to be...Until The friggin sliding door wouldn't open....

Rehearsals went well..Though, Bodies isn't the easiest of songs to perform and getting back into the swing of things has felt somewhat alien. I did feel like "Yeah, i can pull this off"......

Anyway, Back in the dressing room waiting to go on Wasn't the dreadful anxiety fest that i thought it was going to be..

I hung out with the contestants, got my hair did, went and said hello to Simon, had some sushi and waited....

"All right Rob, It's time to go" Back packs on It's working, Legs feel stable, head's in the right place...let's do it...

For extra confidence i started to hum the theme tune from Rocky in my head.....it was working...So relaxed, So excited, Goosepimply in fact.....

So i'm stood behind the Jumbo screen waiting to go and peacock...Dermot does a lovely introduction "Blah,blah,blah..lovely stuff and niceties...Ladies and gentlemen Robbie Williams!''

At this point in the rehearsals the music starts....The doors open.....BUT LIVE.....The music starts...The Doors don't open..

So we're a few seconds in And the doors remain closed a few more seconds and they're still closed......

Now i don't know if you've ever had 10 million (plus) people ready to judge you on your first performance back in 3 years....

But let me tell you, if the door between you and them isn't opening that's enough to throw you right off your stride..I don't know if you saw but i had to wedge it open myself...That wasn't part of the show..That was pure brute strength and now heavy nerves shifting something that i probably wouldn't be able to move in the cold light of day........

So there's a bad start..I had a whole pose planned and what not.. but that went out of the window...

Anyway i was so thrown that i started saying to myself...."OH GOD,what did God give me? $h!t Did he give me sunshine or a lay line?OH lord oh lord"

Then the mouth opened and by the grace of the big man himself the right words fell out......Oh praise be! I'm in!....

So after a bizarrely odd start to the 3.30 minutes i started to find my feet.....

The audience were Immense and the Love in the room was palpable......It all felt so electric....Like 3 years of anxiety leaving my body

So happy right now...So pleased...I think the boy's back

1. Robbie's performance was good.

2. That pap guy is an idiot, the video even shows how close he got.

1 - agreed - although it did appear he'd had a little too much Colombian Special Brew (I mean coffee of course) - AND he did sing live which given his claims that he now suffers dreadful stage fright was very brave. Bless!

2 - would agree except the car was half on the pavement - sideways!

Tbf, that pap had it coming. Stand in front of a moving car and you'll end up underneath it, IMO. Too bad.

Robbie wasn't driving was he? :D

PS. For what it's worth my favourite on Saturday was the girl with the horrendously horrible accent who sang Coldplay. ^_^

He doesn't drive does he? From what I've know (at least until a couple of years ago) he hasn't passed his test. Mind you ... if I had his money ... I'd pay for someone else to drive for me as well!

Oh i remember the girl in the auditions who Simon said will be given money for her vocal lessons back. I wonder if he did keep his word? :o
