"Delta" the album only had one #1 single in Australia. Believe Again should have been #1 as i think Together We Are One should have been back in 06, i think it just came down to bad timing on both releases.

In This Life and Believe Again should be put on the next UK album as AT LEAST bonus tracks. I think by the look of her last show, Delta will move into a more dance pop sound, eg sweetdreams..it was amazing.

She had an amazing voice, but in retrospect all her singles were either bland or too sickly/cheesy. I really don't think she'd be successful if she tried to relaunch her career in the UK tbh... the ONLY reason she was successful at first was because of Neighbours. Seriously, the way she promoted her stuff when she was first starting was shameless: at one point, she performed Born To Try on the show at least twice a week (I refuse to believe that was 7 years ago btw). So the only way I can really see her being successful is if she returned to Neighbours... which I find unlikely, given I think pretty much all the characters that were on the show at the same time as her are long gone, so it would be hard to make it convincing.

It wouldn't be impossible for her character to go back. I mean she left to be with Jack Scully (in US I think)... Anyway Steph Scully is still in Neighbours and Lyn is returning really soon (Jack's mum)... therefore if Jack came back Nina could too. Even if just for a few weeks visit! I would love it to happen anyway  !! They could come back for a Nina and Jack wedding lol!!

i think delta is bigger than neighbours now, she would get a bashing for it
Brilliant singer, finally heard the Delta album in full the other night. I shall write a review of it later on in the week. ;)

excellent to hear :D after two years, I've finally realised what an ANTHEM Brave Face is :o

Apparently Delta will appear on GMTV tomorrow! :cheer:

@StTropezTan says on Twitter: Be sure to check out GMTV tomorrow - we have tanned Delta Goodrem who will be appearing on the show on a live link from Oz!

The lovely 'Woman' off Delta has been covered by Toni Braxton for her upcoming sixth album:

That's tagged but you get the gist. It's much more stripped-back than the original but I really like it!

I aways loved 'Brave Face' Best song off her last album.

She should so release in the UK again. Her flop second album and Brelta-Gate crap were the only reason she stayed away but Twatona is no longer the nation's darling so she should give it another shot imo. ^_^

Review of the Delta album that I posted on the official forum. This based on only a couple of listens.

Artwork: -

At first, the cover was a bit disappointing. I expected more of it (this was back to when we were viewing just the album cover prior to its release). When I opened the case recently, I was impressed with how relevant it is to the title. It is indeed about Delta and the photos inside show the more relaxed side of Delta, that there is a person behind the musician that we all regard highly. I am of course in favour of the photo of Delta with the hat. Had to mention the hat somewhere. :P

Believe Again: -

Loved the deceptive intro to this song. You get the impression that this song is a gentle one. The opening lyrics are also gentle. The chorus lyrics are very good, though I think she brings in the backing vocals too soon for my liking but that might just be me. The beat picks up, which is at total odds with the introduction. There is a beautiful bridge which could have done with the backing vocals being omitted. Gentle ending which I like. I find it on the whole uplifting.

In This Life: -

Nice piano intro, which I wished lasted a bit longer and picks up fast. Lyrics come in sooner than the previous track. Verses are sung rather quick as a consequence and we move rather too quickly into the chorus. This might mean that the verses lose their meaning, but I think this indicates the hectic pace that Delta's life and musical career has been at prior to this release. Bit repetitive towards the end. Great choice for a single and should have done well here in the UK.

Possessionless: -

Beautiful intro, gentle beat to this. Lovely use of the vocal in this section. It seems to follow on very well from the previous track. I really like the message in this song. It is anti-materialistic in my opinion. What you see is what you get, no more no less. The irrelevance of what you have and what you have not seems to be the theme that strikes me here. Favourite track on the album so far.

God Laughs: -

I do enjoy my piano intro. Rather a nice song about the uncertainties of life. Tomorrow is not guaranteed to be the way you planned it seems. Very gentle chorus with a great use of backing vocals. Another great song from Delta. Love the way it fades at the end, very appropriate to the lyrics.

You Will Only Break My Heart: -

Very lively start with a good beat. Opening lyrics near the opening are rather indistinct, which is my only criticism of this song. Very good use of backing vocals. I think the vocals are superb and keep the pace with the beat brilliantly. Ending a bit abrupt which fits in very well.

The Guardian: -

Beautiful gentle intro which is appropriate to the title. Clear lyrics and has a slower pace to the previous song, which makes it all the more meaningful. Beautiful bridge which could do without the drumbeat. Another favourite track on here.

Bare Hands: -

Slightly jazzy intro and very gentle song. I think the restrained use of the backing vocals is very fitting to this and makes the lyrics stand out. This song is very meaningful, particularly the chorus. Another favourite track of mine on the album.

Woman: -

Very assertive. I have a suspicion that this means she has conquered her illness and wishes to assert that this is the Mighty Delta Goodrem. I love the way that this builds up in the chorus to a comparative crescendo after a gentle intro and opening verse. The chorus is superb, restrained use of backing vocals which highlights Delta's vocal. Firm favourite of mine here. Delta shows who is boss.

I Can't Break It To My Heart: -

Indicates a secret here she seems to be hiding from herself. Love the intro here again. Very gentle opening lyrics and then it builds up which shows the agonies of the heart that is indicated by the title of this very meaningful song. Very restrained use of the backing vocals in the chorus, which indicates to me how meaningful this song is to Delta. Superb track with a gentle ending.

Brave Face: -

The title indicates to me that she is hiding the pain she suffers behind a mask. I am not too sure about the intro here. The chorus is very lively and catchy. It is quite the anthem in my opinion and is calling us to battle our way through life. Love the beat to this and this is another favourite, though it has a surprisingly gentle ending which is at total odds with the rest of this track.

One Day: -

Quite a beat to start this track off. It seems to be about the plans for her life after going through a rocky patch in her personal life and is thinking about when she will be past it. I quite like this because of the reflective nature of the lyrics. I don't think the beat is appropriate to the lyrics, though it fits in with the rocky patch that I referred to earlier. The backing vocals are a bit overused in my view and take a bit of the meaning away from this song. Very abrupt ending.

Angels In The Room: -

I have been looking forward to hearing this based on the title. This fits in with a previous track The Guardian in a sense. Perhaps she is aware of the fact that she had guardian angels through her illness, just a guess. Very gentle, meaningful track and the restrained use of the backing vocals shows how much this track means to Delta. Uplifting and Delta seems to have saved the best for last here.

Conclusion: -

I see the meaning of the title of this album very clearly with the combined use of the images. It shows the different phases Delta has been through in her personal life, but the images show that she still has fun. Superb album and I am looking forward to more of the same Delta.

the original Delta version was far from one of my favourites on 'Delta', it sounded like a Westlife production, complete with the key change, in fact iirc, Westlife's producer was actually behind that version so it was no surprise

I have all of Delta's albums. The 1st and 3rd one's are the best. She has an amazing voice.
  • 4 weeks later...

Watched the DVD twice tonight.

Apart from the god awful appearance of Brian McFadden it's stunning show and an amazing DVD. Gutted i couldn't see her live while i was in Aus.
