A first solo number one for Cheryl Cole

Published on: 2009-10-25 by BuzzJack.com Suedehead2 || 132 Views

It's a double triumph for Simon Cole as his acts top the singles and album charts this week. Plenty of new entries in the albums chart leads to some large falls within the top 40.

(BuzzJack.com) - New number ones for Simon Cowell in both charts this week.

The X-Factor takeover gathers pace this week with the top five dominated by acts associated with the show. Not content with a stream of singles and albums by former contestants, Simon Cowell has now decided to inflict the first solo single by WAG, Girls Aloud member and X-Factor judge Cheryl Cole on us. Predictably it’s terrible. Equally predictably it’s become the fastest selling single of the year so far and tops the chart this week. As a result, Alexandra Burke falls to number two after a single week on top. That makes it the 13th single to spend just one week at number one (excluding the two Black Eyed Peas singles which each spent a single week there on two separate occasions).

Who has written that $h!t article really? It's so biased it's funny...

And inaccurate to the maximum. Cheryl's label (Polydor/Fascination) has nothing to do with Simon, so it isn't a "number one for Simon" and Simon hasn't "inflicted" it on us.

Ridiculous article really.

Great to see the third Alison Moyet Best Of in 10 years going top 20!

Shame Editors plummeted, though...it's an amazing album

What a $h!t write up, if the fastest selling single of the year is terrible in their opinion, maybe they need to question their personal tastes? lol

Thanks for posting :)

Beyonce one away from top 40... sooo annoying!!

Yippee :cheer:

I do believe Rammstein sold as little as 800 on Tuesday, so fully expect Liebe Ist Fuer Alle Da to drop out of the top 75 or even 100 next week.

So disappointing - Rammstein are brilliant - I wonder when p*ssy will get a release

13 10 11 David Guetta feat. Akon Sexy Chick*

Surely this is a misprint

After looking at all other charts it's listed as Sexy Bitch

That article is written by Suedehead2, and is the official chart commentary of BuzzJack (if you may). He is always extremely opinionated, that's just the way things go. Valid point about it not being a #1 for Simon, but remember it was basically launched by The X Factor, Simon Cowell's TV show.

61 R 1 Daniel Merriweather Love & War

I know it's not your fault, just thought I'd point out that this is down from #55, not a re-entry

Well, at least it could try to get his facts right, that's the very least you would expect from a chart commentary. MW reports look like perfection next to this.

Cheryl may be part of a Simon Cowell show, Simon won't make any money on her solo music project, more than anything Cheryl has PREVENTED Simon from getting a second week at number 1 with "Bad boys", so that's quite the opposite.

Performing on the show doesn't make it "Simon Cowell's single".

Do you consider JLS singles to be Simon Cowell singles?

Like far too many, (idiotic), UK Journalists, Richard Simpson of the 'Daily Mail'

thinks that Cheryl's Single is now THE Best Seller of 2009. He/they think

that the fastest Selling Single of the Year is the same Statistic as the Best Seller

of the Year:,

Oh well, sounds good for cheryl :yahoo:

I'm not sure what label they are signed to. If they're signed to Simon's label, then yes. If not, it could be argued "maybe" considering they were inexistant before appearing on Simon's show. But I wouldn't say that, because it is giving much credits to Simon while he probably doesn't give a $h!t about them and hasn't done anything to help them.

I mention JLS because with them, it's the same deal as Cheryl - JLS are signed to Epic, so Simon doesn't get a penny out of JLS any more. However, they couldn't get anywhere near the level of success they have now without Simon's help (appearing on the X Factor). Cheryl may have done fairly well without X Factor, but I can tell you it would not get anywhere NEAR 292k had she not been an X Factor judge.

It's not the same deal as Cheryl at all.

JLS are only famous for X Factor, just like Girls Aloud were only famous for PS:TR.

Cheryl is famous thanks to PS:TR, then a long career with Girls Aloud, then for marrying and being cheated by Ashley, then being a judge X Factor. You can't take any of those factors out, or she wouldn't be where she is now. Of course you could say "she wouldn't be that popular without X Factor", but it's far too easy, because she wouldn't be that popular without a lot of other factors. Or you should call FFTL a Davina's single, a Ashley single, a Girls Aloud single aswell. Every bit of her story has helped her to be where she is now, so sorry, but branding it a "Simon Cowell's single" was stupid indeed.

Cheryl should be punished for promoting her single to the best of her abilities. I mean artists should sit on their backsides and just keep their fingers crossed that people will buy their music without doing performances. It would all be so much more fun.

It's just a promotional slot for acts, like appearing on JR but with more viewers but Cheryl has an extra advantage as she appears on the show twice a week giving her extra exposure.
