November 2, 200915 yr Author 170 Kasabian 'Club Foot' 169 MGMT 'Time to Pretend' 168 The Pains of Being Pure at Heart 'Higher Than The Stars' 167 The Raconteurs 'Steady, As She Goes' 166 Reverend & The Makers 'Heavyweight Champion of the World' 165 Editors 'Munich' 164 Amy Winehouse 'You Know I'm No Good' 163 Puddle of Mudd 'Blurry' 162 Biffy Clyro 'Just Boy' 161 Razorlight 'Golden Touch' A slightly more known bunch here, with only one of these acts having not had a UK top 20 single, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, whos retro shoegaze feel has completely blown me away this year. Kasabian's first hit, and almost their finest, 'Club Foot' appears, as do MGMT, The Raconteurs and the unbelievably catchy indie anthems from Reverend & The Makers, Editors and Razorlight. God I wish Razorlight were still good. :( 'You Know I'm No Good' has always been by far and away by favourite Amy single, shame it got less exposure and sold less than all the others. I've no idea how I ever discovered 'Just Boy', but it's always been the only Biffy song I've ever truly loved. The special mention must however go to Puddle of Mudd. How did a genre I detest so much, has no redeeming features whatsoever (well one; 'Blurry') manage to produce something so utterly beautiful? I should hate everything about it, but I just don't The guiltiest of my guilty pleasures. PGmrL2h8lrE
November 2, 200915 yr In the mean time I'll enjoy watching this countdown, as I agree thanks to the musical cancer that is X-Factor not too many great songs are likely to be discovered in the last two months of this decade. I always thought (and still do) that decade ends with the end of the 2010 :o
November 2, 200915 yr loving Munich and Time To Pretend but Blurry is actually near enough one of my most hated songs of the decade, for me Puddle Of Mudd are on par with Nickelback, I just absolutely despised them
November 2, 200915 yr Author 160 Imogen Heap 'Hide and Seek' 159 Little Boots 'Remedy' 158 Rihanna 'Don't Stop The Music' 157 Bloc Party 'I Still Remember' 156 Late of the Pier 'Heartbeat' 155 Dizzee Rascal 'Bonkers' 154 Antony & The Johnsons 'Hope There's Someone' 153 Mystery Jets 'Two Doors Down' 152 Los Campesinos! 'The International Tweexcore Underground' 151 Dr. Dre ft Eminem 'Forgot About Dre' A#1, a Mercury winner and some epic flops. Imogen Heap with one of the most original and inspired songs in the countdown (how could she lower heself to that DeRulo thing though? :(), the first from Boots, who I've obsessed over a little too much and something from Rihanna that's far better than I ever imagined she'd ever come out with. Bloc Party are one of my favourite few acts of the decade, but settle for a sole entry at #157. Oh well, I limited this countdown to singles and my top 5 Bloc songs weren't released... Late of the Pier are one of the most underrated bands of recent years, so much energy, as are Los Campesinos!, more from both of those to come, and Mystery Jets, who's 'Twenty One' album really surprised me, given how average their debut was. Antony's beautiful masterpiece had to feature, and Dizzee and Dre also appear, both with anthems I'd probably like a lot less were it not for people around me. uFgMpRiVMaI
November 2, 200915 yr nice genre mix here :D loving Rihanna, Boots, Imogen and Dizzee! I had indeed forgotten about Forgot About Dre, was it the follow up to Still D.R.E.? that was by far my favourite Dr Dre song
November 2, 200915 yr Author loving Munich and Time To Pretend but Blurry is actually near enough one of my most hated songs of the decade, for me Puddle Of Mudd are on par with Nickelback, I just absolutely despised them  Oh definitely. I hate everything about that genre apart from that one song, I really can't explain it. Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd, Staind, Limp Bizkit, POD, Papa Roach Creed. All utterly, utterly dreadful. :puke: But I've always adored 'Blurry', it even made me buy the album, now what was money I wish I'd never spent!

November 2, 200915 yr Author I always thought (and still do) that decade ends with the end of the 2010 :o Well a decade is 10 years, so if 2010 is in this decade, then 2000 was in the 90s and 1990 was in the 80s. You are correct in that next year is the 2010th year, so technically going from the beginning 2001-2010 would be the 201st decade, but a decade is simply a period of 10 years, not a specific 10 years.
November 2, 200915 yr Author nice genre mix here :D loving Rihanna, Boots, Imogen and Dizzee! I had indeed forgotten about Forgot About Dre, was it the follow up to Still D.R.E.? that was by far my favourite Dr Dre song I think it was. That one had Snoop I think? I do like looking back at earlier years at stuff I'd forgotten. Not that I found much that year!
November 2, 200915 yr I think it was. That one had Snoop I think? I do like looking back at earlier years at stuff I'd forgotten. Not that I found much that year! it did, his parts were my favourite, and the video was hilarious
November 2, 200915 yr 170 Kasabian 'Club Foot' - I have really gone off them recently for some reason, Fire is pretty good but the rest of that album I don't like and I came to realise Empire only has about 2 good tracks. 169 MGMT 'Time to Pretend' - Mixed feelings about this, I liked it at the start but then it got overplayed ridiculously so am not sure now. 168 The Pains of Being Pure at Heart 'Higher Than The Stars' 167 The Raconteurs 'Steady, As She Goes' 165 Editors 'Munich' 163 Puddle of Mudd 'Blurry' 162 Biffy Clyro 'Just Boy' - When they were good. 161 Razorlight 'Golden Touch' - Read above. 160 Imogen Heap 'Hide and Seek' - Amazing song, agree about the DeRulo thing, WHY would she do it? 159 Little Boots 'Remedy' - Her best. 158 Rihanna 'Don't Stop The Music' 157 Bloc Party 'I Still Remember' - Not one of my favourites of theirs but still good, disappointed none of the Silent Alarm singles are going to get in. 156 Late of the Pier 'Heartbeat' 154 Antony & The Johnsons 'Hope There's Someone' - Beautiful 152 Los Campesinos! 'The International Tweexcore Underground' Good 20 there, a couple just scraped into being included in the ones I like though. Edited November 2, 200915 yr by Ashford.

'The International Tweexcore Underground' I don't think I need to say anything for Remedy - although have you heard the Wideboys Stadium Radio Edit and the Buffetlibre vs. Sidechains remixes? :o Both make the chorus epic oomphage. Oh, and the above are all amazing  Even if I do hate myself slightly for liking that DeRulo thing :(

'The International Tweexcore Underground'What an amazing group there! ^ :o Well a decade is 10 years, so if 2010 is in this decade, then 2000 was in the 90s and 1990 was in the 80s. True, but it's kinda frustrating how we all celebrate each millennium/decade etc. one year early each time, the first year A.D. was 1, not 0 -_-
November 3, 200915 yr As soon as it turns 2010 (12am on Jan 1st) then 2010 years AD have passed. We are IN the 2010th year. 0 to 1 AD was the first year not the zero-th year.
November 3, 200915 yr A 'Nothing' Liam Lynch 'United States of Whatever' Willy Mason 'Oxygen' f***ing classics, oh and its good to see someone else into Willy Mason 180 Graham Coxon 'Freakin' Out' Freakin Out  163 Puddle of Mudd 'Blurry' lol Blurry. I like loads of tracks, cant be arsed with saying every single one, overall very good.
November 3, 200915 yr Well at least I can still follow this here! :D I haven't visited this place in about 2 years (only prompted by Mr Ashford above), it's actually a lot more indie focused than I recall.

I agree that 'Empire' was pretty rubbish though, there are about three songs on it I'd still listen to. 'Silent Alarm' is my favourite Bloc Party album, but the singles off it aren't my favourites, although I do like them all and they were all in my longlist.
