^ US people are not keen on girl bands though.

If they are marketed correctly and release strong music, they will. Cheryl Cole will not make it.

Yeah, as someone who lives in the US, I can't really see 3 Words breaking her tbh. I think with heavy promotion it'll chart, but I can't see it being a massive success. And even if it is, what else from her album could be? I haven't heard it personally, but I've heard it's a bit rubbish.
Yeah, I really can't see Cheryl having a hit with any of her current solo material here in the US.

I live in the US too and I totally agree. U really have to live here regularly to realize what will do well and what won't. Trust me-I am not into half of the garbage that is considered "great music" and cracks the top 10 here. I actually listen to more music overseas than the music here.

3 Words as a single would not do well here---it is too bland for the US pop radio stations. I have heard her album and the songs that would do the best are "Stand Up" as the lead single, then release "Boy Like U" and "Fight For This Love" as the final single. This would be the best shot at her having some success. She also has to have big performances and catch people's attention here.

Also, as a side note, Girls Aloud would not do well here in the US. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but their type of campy music wouldn't take off here. That was more for the 90s when Spice Girls were hot here---not anymore. Same thing with Sugababes--they are one of my favorite groups and would love for them to make it big here, but they wouldn't do well in the US either.

But I do hope that Cheryl comes here and tries to make it---I welcome as many acts overseas to try it here as possible--the US needs more great music like there is overseas!! PLEASE HELP US!!! :cheer:

thats actually just your opinion anyway?

i dont feel girls aloud songs would have made america or been huge hits its not the type of music that sells, had they perhaps call the shots had a long shot?

cheryl's is different.

with will.i.am she can get on certain radio station, if he promotes with her she can get on tv shows?

leona has broken america and she is a judge on the x factor with simon cowell, so there is talking points...

3 words has a chance, if the record label get enough hype, why not, u never know!?

I apologize--I think that u misunderstood me. I said that I think GA wouldn't do well in the US, but I think Cheryl as a solo artist would do good. I already stated that if she released "Stand Up" as the lead single, that would do very well on US pop radio. Also, I think Boy Like U and Fight For This Love would both do well here too.

OMG FOUR AMERICAN REPLIES ON ONE PAGE.

Buzzjack history has just happened in the Girls Aloud forum.

You're the Buzzjack version of girls Aloud :kink: etc...

I love how being American automatically makes people experts at what will sell well here...

Please don't start this "America vs. the rest of the world" crap again......When someone from the UK or anywhere else writes their opinion of what would do well over there, I take their opinion seriously and respect their opinion since:

1) they live there

2) they hear the music on the radio and video stations every day

3) they have an idea of what works over there more than I do since I live in the US and don't live there

So you should at least take American's opinions seriously as well since we live here and have an idea of what usually works here as well.

We all appreciate music (which is obviously why we are in this Buzzjack site) and should appreciate each other's opinions as well.

Well she is recording with Ryan Tedder and One Republic for new tracks for the US, so I don't think 3 words will be released there as the lead single anymore.

Ryan Tedder is in One Republic.

The reason why they went with '3 Words' as the single is because having a big name like Will.I.Am attached to it will be her best (and probably only) way of grabbing interest. I do think it's a dire song though.

1. WTF do you mean by 'again"??

2. I'm American!

3. And I'm not belittling anyone's opinions. But it's just dumb when some one says that would NEVER sell here or stuff like that. The content is only a small portion of determining success. There are people who spend get paid millions to invest in an artist/group that they think will sell and be big, and even they get it wrong many times.

I don't know why you reacted so angrily towards me. I've never even brought up any America vs world arguments...

I am not angry at you at all. I just don't get why people like blasting other people's opinions on these forums (I am not talking about you, by the way). And I never said she would never sell here.....just to make it clear, I think that Cheryl will do very well and I think she is very good. I was just stating that I didn't believe certain singles would do as well in the US as they would in the UK. I wish her the best.
