05 Dec 87 Children In Need No.61

Ray Moore – The Bog-Eyed Jog

God, I remember this one - what a strange record...

Emma Bunton also did Downtown for Childen In Need in 2006
Thank you very much for this :)

It seems we are back to the late 80s/early 90s with the flop CIN singles.

Some are inapprorpriate I may say:

"Girls of FHM" for a Breast Cancer charity - not appropriate for the confidence of these women.

"Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" for UNCIEF - Sick a bit!

"Run To The Hills" for MS - Thats just distasteful.

Former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr (who plays on Run to the Hills) has MS, that is the reason it was done.

they've been awful recently...Peter Kay aside...

McFly's one last year were songs from their already released album, the Spice Girls song was the weakest of their career, Liberty X's song was a bland cover version...

compare it to 2000 and 2001, two original pop songs from S Club 7, and arguably two of their finest singles...and You & I from Will Young in 2002, which was an extremely good song

we need more original pop songs, but all charity singles these days seem to be cheap sounding emotion sapped covers :(

Yes,

S Club 7's offerings were great! seems the original songs are running dry, which is a shame! :(

The Music Relief '94 version of What's Going On (before the Artists Against AIDS one came along in 2001) flopping so badly was a big surprise. Also in the same year, the Children For Rwanda version of Love Can Build A Bridge bombed before the Comic Relief one.
God, I remember this one - what a strange record...

I remember O My Father Had A Rabbit (Dec 86)

i was going to say Anastacia Heavy On My Heart but its already on there, shame it was such a beautiful song and the video was so sad.

Yeah that was okay, and a Stock, Aitken & Waterman production too.

Other S/A/W charity singles were Ferry Across The Mersey, Let It Be (featuring Kate Bush amongst others),

Pat & Mick singles which were for Help A London Child, Band Aid II and Big Fun & Sonia's You've Got A Friend

(which wasn't the Carol King song).
