You're absolutely right, and if Aled wants to have 3, 30 or 300 in the final then that's up to him, but people are entitled to point out potential problems that could be caused for him and for the rest of the participants.

my opinion too, a host is the organiser of the competition but shouldn't muck about too much with the long standing conventions I don't think...

 

or else we could say why not do away with the semis altogether and have a final of 46? then nobody would miss out

 

not a complaint by any stretch of the imagination, just a preference, I wouldn't go up in arms and boycott the competition if he decided to have 30 in the final :lol:

Actually, I'm just clarifying what I said. It seems as ever people are assuming an intent where it was never there (something which annoys me to no end when people dismiss things as being cheap and don't enter them for the lightest of reasons :arrr:)

But basically yes ;o If Aled wishes to have 30 then he can go ahead. But I have always guaranteed that we will never have 31 or more songs in the contest, at which point voting becomes almost unviable. 30 is the limit people (although there's nothing wrong with fewer :P)!

TBH if i were to host i would put 12 through from each semi with either 1 or 2 AQ's making 25/26 sons in the final.

I think it makes sense, if there is about 24 in each semi half can go through. Not only does it make the final easier for the host but it would mean the final wouldn't go on too long.

Just noticed Utopia entering JJ though <3. Shame about cheap songs being entered by Ellie Goulding and The Big Pink over others, but i guess any Ellie song is v. cheap now...

But as we all know James isn't a proper mod so you shouldn't trust anything he says and Tyron is the top mod so he'll be competing whatever.

no but it used to be 24 average, now it's 29, if it creeps up to 30, what's to stop it going to 32/34/38 in the future...who has the time to listen to that many new songs and digest them properly in the space of a few days?

He perhaps has a point though. :whistle: Us other three kinda said that it was the deadline and he'd missed out, but this is not the case now. I'm not sure Tom is in a position to complain though, didn't we once wait the next day after he missed the deadline? (I know that wasn't the case for XIX, but I don't think that was the first time)

 

It's a shame Harve has missed out as it seemed like the 'deadlines are deadlines' word was final, but it'd also be a bit harsh to exclude Tyron after all he's done for the forum (I know we aren't supposed to be biased!) The only negative feeling I have over it is that it means two people who would have made it yesterday will now miss out, unless the final is 30. He;s kinda gone from being excluded to having a place in the final. [/bitter]
