November 25, 200915 yr PI1: Zoe Birkett (4th) PI2: Mark Rhodes (2nd) X1: Rowetta Satchell (4th) X2: Addictive Ladies (12th) X3: Leona Lewis (1st) & Ashley McKenzie (8th) X4: Andy Williams (8th) & Kimberley Southwick (12th) nainly because it was slim pickings that year X5: Diana Vickers (4th) & Rachel Hylton (6th) X6: Lucie Jones (8th) & Olly Murs (??) November 25, 200915 yr Ooh I remember Susanne off of Pop Idol, she was amazing. She was: GU2_bf66-WY Susanne Manning - Ironic kxTH5_oZsZ8 Susanne Manning - I Don't Want To Talk About It t2tpmDKIu-U Susanne Manning - Only You Just listening to these clips now makes me realise that she is easily better than anything left in this year's X-Factor contest IMHO. Such a shame she was victim to Simon Cowell's scheming, as described by Pete Waterman in his second autobiography. Simon Fuller (responsible for the Pop Idol format) had told the judges they he was going to rest Pop Idol in the UK and make it a Bi-annual contest as he felt (correctly IMHO) that the talent pool was too low and needed filling up, so Simon Cowell championed the "Michellin Girl" and eventually winner Michelle McManus at the expense of favourite Susanne Manning (whom he never praised any of her performances) so that Simon Fuller would be left with a dud winner. That is why Pete Waterman walked out of the show after the final result and fell out with Simon, because he knew all along what Simon Cowell was up to... and he saw how Simon Cowell's comments had such an adverse affect on Susanne that she walked away from offers from major record labels because she was apparently so upset by the experience... Whilst Simon negotiated with ITV who wanted another autumn/winter ratings hit to use his new format singing talent show format The X-Factor ... and the rest is history....
November 25, 200915 yr Tbh, I did enjoy Pop Idol FAR more than X Factor. Was more enjoyable and less contrived than X Factor, I really liked the format for it too.
November 25, 200915 yr Tbh, I did enjoy Pop Idol FAR more than X Factor. Was more enjoyable and less contrived than X Factor, I really liked the format for it too. Same Pop Idol was more about the contestants and X Factor is more about the judges. The problem lies where the judges are the mentors unfortunately. Each category should have different mentors each week and then sing songs by that mentor. Then we'd have 4 special guests. Either 2 perform on Saturday (1 at the start and 1 at the end) and 2 on Sunday (as now) or 1 at the end on Saturday and 3 on Sunday getting rid of the dire group performances.
November 25, 200915 yr No! I really want them twin things to win. They were the REAL stars of the show.

He was the little geeky one with an unreal voice! He deserved to win. He sang miles better than Michelle McManus.
November 25, 200915 yr I wanted Tabby to win S1, Maria Lawson to win S2, Leona to win S3, Same Difference to win S4, Ruth to win S5 and well Lucie to win this year  So apart from Leona's obvious victory, it's never happened for me! In fact apart from last year where talent all round was consistantly strong [bar one or two], the other years have had so many $h!t contestants!
November 25, 200915 yr Do you remember Chris? He was the little geeky one with an unreal voice! He deserved to win. He sang miles better than Michelle McManus. Yes, he was my second favourite that year. I remember getting hacked off with PI2 when after Susanne got eliminated in 5th; I wanted Chris to win who finished 4th; I then wanted Sam to win who finished 3rd; and in the final I wanted Mark to win who finished 2nd. I remember Chris Evans describing Michelle McManus as "Sheena Easton in a fat suit" which was a perfect description of her voice IMHO. Dc_C5_QLfw4 Chris - Pop Idol 2 - Long Winding Road NdD_hVIoxPA Chris - Pop Idol 2 - Dont Let The Sun Go Down On Me Listening to these again makes me realise he is/was better than Joe. :o
