What? Sorry but this is nonsense. Olly was not selfish. He was only doing what everyone else would have done, had they been bottom 2 the week before, and was again one of the last ones to be called out, to go through to the semi finals, on a show which could potentially make you a big star in the UK. He is probably the most genuine contestant in there at the moment imo.

Finally the sane person out here! <3

I really think it is best not to talk about this at all, i imagine lawyers connected with whoever is concerned will

be monitoring the internet closely for any mention of the story.

Any slight mention of it however small could lead to someone accidentally slipping up.

Exactly, BJ is one of the leading entertainment forums on the net, anyone who thinks people (very senior people) in the industry would not read BJ is being incredibly naive, it would be a shock if people involved in X Factor do not read BJ

lolz:

Simon Cowell has reportedly decided that he wants Joe McElderry to win The X Factor this year.

According to The Sun, the music mogul urged his fellow judges to influence voters by giving McElderry extra praise in Saturday's show.

However, Cowell's decision to back the 18-year-old singer has allegedly angered his own remaining acts Danyl Johnson and Olly Murs.

A source told the newspaper: "Joe is the winner in Simon's eyes. He's been bigging up Joe when the judges are around.

"The others are not happy. But the bottom line with Simon is, 'Who will sell records?'."

McElderry, who made it through to the semi-final last night, won support from the panel with performances of 'Could It Be Magic' and 'Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word' at the weekend.

Don't blame Cowell

Danyl's talent is about 1/20th the size of his ego and Olly is all show and no real substance whereas Joe has been consistent right through X Factor and has shown he can excel at every type of music

He will never be a pin up boy unless he gets some major dental treatment but he is a good vocalist

DULL. Only Stacey could actually have a proper career (i.e. actually develop as a musician for the second album) out of the cohort remaining.

Stacey good though she is can't sing anything other than ballads, she will forever be a ballad singer and I don't see more than 1 album before people tire of the same songs all over again

Joe can be moulded to sing anything, he was great in big band, he has been great at ballads, up tempo songs, rock stuff etc

I think Stacey has overall the better voice but she is a one trick pony Joe is versatile

Joe seems to be the dark horse in the competition, at first I didn't think he get far, he has been very consistant and never been in the bottom 2, he seem to have matured a lot in his music over the past few weeks.

Stacey is not Leona or Alexandra she can sing but somehow she doesn't tick all the boxes, something is missing. Got a funny feeling the last two standing in the final will be Olly and Joe, Stacey will lose out just by a whisker in the first final. That's if Danyl goes next week.

Um, welcome to Leona? :P

Um, welcome to Leona? :P

Um, welcome to 'Outta My Head'? :P

THIS.

They said Leona couldn't rock the uptempos, I'm certain Stacey could also ;o

I can't really see any of the finalists having a longlasting career. Joe maybe... but it depends on how he's marketed and what sort of material he gets given. I reckon he could be quite a big star though, but it all depends on how (if he wins..) he's marketed. Stacey is unfortunately always going to be compared to Leona and Alexandra, and she's not as good as either. She's a good vocalist but I can't see her having a longlasting career. Whilst Leona is exceptional at ballads, she can do slight up-tempo stuff pretty decent - something I don't think Stacey is capable of.

I really like Joe, but the worry I have is that he could well sound like Gareth Gates (ie dull) so easily on record. On the XFF single, if you close your eyes for the opening few lines Joe could be Gareth Gates :|

Stacey I think would need to go down a non ballad route to avoid the Leona/Alexandra comparisons, but can she do anything else?

Um, welcome to Leona? :P

Can't compare Stacey with Leona talent wise, even if Leona sings ballads in general she has an exceptional voice, possibly the best of any active female singer in the business today, her exceptional ability means people won't tire of her, Stacey is nowhere near the same league as Leona so won't get away with it

Hope Danyl goes next week :cheer:

I agree with 3 of the 4 semis

Lucie should have been there instead of Danyl

Just why are the guest acts mainly American

We've got a lot of talent in the UK

Um, welcome to 'Outta My Head'? :P

Indeed...

I think both Stacey and Joe have the potential as the recording artists with Stacey slightly having more of a chance. None of them screams Leona or even Alexandra (who is absolutely average imo) unfortunately. :(

Oh wow one uptempo over two albums (well two if we include the flop that is Forgive Me). Hardly suggests she can 'rock uptempos'..

The difference is though that Leona is probably the best ballad singer in the world whereas Stacey is not even close and never will be, Stacey is good but as a singer can't be talked about in the same breath as Leona

The thing with Stacey is that she's not Leona or Alexandra, nor is she trying to be. I think her ideal sound is one that isn't easily marketable now, though it would have been a few years ago. She's more of a Norah Jones/Katie Melua/Dido type but those three have gone from big sellers to being dubbed boring. (with a few exceptions, rightly so) I think it'd be wrong to give Stacey an album of Leona type ballads or Alexandra uptempos, but I don't think she'd have a long-lasting career with the singer-songwriter sound.

As for Joe, he's probably my favourite left, but I can't see anything they can do to make him interesting on record. They might as well churn out an album of covers with him. Until I hear him doing something properly current, I'm thinking he'll have one successful album, followed by a flop, before going on to appear in stage shows. Olly would probably go the same way, without the stage shows.

Danyl is another I can't see selling records in the long run. I think he'd sound most comfortable on a slightly funky or soul record (I can imagine him covering Daniel Merriweather's "Change") over these big ballads Cowell seems to love. I don't think he'd last past the first album. I think Shayne (who was better than all the males this year) has convinced me that it's nearly impossible for a male to be huge off the back of this show. (despite both of his albums going platinum)

So basically, none of the final 4 will be huge in the long run. More successful than Leon, less successful than Alexandra.
