RATM campaign was as honest as Robert Mugabe election campaign

Bolloxs mate. Why don't you take your tongue out of Simon Cowell's backside?

I honestly can't believe how much of a fuss people are kicking up. It's like someone died.

WHO CARES?! Rage won. Joe came 2nd. I'm sure there was a lot of multiple purchases from both camps.

If those Nokia downloads counted this week they'd have counted for the rest of the year. Every other song that charted had exactly the same opportunity....
Apparently there's going to be a Facebook campaign and a top music industry lawyer thinks the announcement can be overturned due to "chart hyping"

What a load of old bollocks. It'll get nowhere. Facebook is absolutely huge, it's an incredibly powerful marketing tool, just like every other marketing tool. Why should that be put at a disadvantage? It was not forced it upon anyone, they sent no one a message. You could only be 'told' to buy it if you actually looked at the group.

To the Joe/X-Factor supporters:

Welcome to the real world. Your show is a piece of fake manipulative drivel, you've been brainwashed and need your heads checking out and deserved to be sectioned.

I am as anti Cowell as a man as you are but I also believe in fair play and multiple downloads, cheat codes being exchanged over Twitter, foreigners buying songs for the UK chart etc are stuff that not even Karl Rove would resort to, if RATM campaign had played by the rules I would be happy for them and congratulate whereas now I hope the OCC investigate and disqualify RATM, it's not about being a Cowell fanboy its about preserving the integrity of the charts

Erm, what about Cowell BUYING the UK press, BUYING local radio?

Thats manipulative.

The thing is knowing Simon Cowell's & Max Clifford's reputation in the industry, I would not put that past them.

Just look at the chart show on Radio 1, it was advertised that Joe McElderrry was going to be on the show all week, yet when the time came he pulled out. Sour grapes = much proof that Simon Cowell is very bothered about the result despite what he may say in the media in the next few days/weeks because the man has an ego the size of a continent.

If you disqualify one, you have to disqualify the other. No one 'campaign' was any better or worse than the rest. Both were manipulative, both had fans buying multiple copies and 'chart hyping'...

So what about the Joe McElderry facebook sites and even the official X-Factor site's discussion forums encouraging fans of the X-Factor to do exactly the same?

Like in all forms of modern society, the rules are pushed to the limit; and loopholes are always explored and exploitated until they are closed.

RATM AT NO 1 :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

Awesome news. I know it has caused controversy but we are all music lovers here and the point for me at least is that a monopoly has been toppled - this can only be good for the industry and all of us music lovers no matter what our tastes. Variety is the spice of life as the old cliche goes!

Happy Christmas

TIME FOR A NEW ERA OF MUSIC.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE HAVE DONE IT.

THIS SHOWS THAT PLENTY OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WANT DECENT MUSIC, NOT MANUFACTURED BOLLOCKS FROM SIMON COWELL'S JOKE OF A TV SHOW.

ZACK DE LA ROCHA, TOM MORELLO, BRAD WILK, TIME COMMERFORD. remember those names, they have done more for music than Joe or Simon ever will.

Just how can a Facebook 'marketing' campaign any worse than a four month long marketing TV show?

Multiple purchases. I'm lodging a complaint with the OCC and other Joe fans are apparently. We'll try to get the position overturned. High Court if necessary. It's not over!

 wow some people need to get lives

:manson: Sore LOSER! Un-f***ing-believable.

F*** Simon Cowell and the mindless drivel he tries to pass off as music. :arrr:

Agree. Both sets of fans are sheep but it is the snobbery and holier than thou attitude of the RATM fans that has become the more irritating. The methods used to get sales this week leave a bad taste in the mouth and set a bad precedent for future chart battles.

Don't you beleeeeeeive it then?

Who cares! RATM made it to number 1!

Not only is complaining to the OCC because you lost pathetic, but also the OCC will NOT change the chart position anyway - they can't just delete history, the public outrage would be too much for them. They know better.
