iTunes Popularity Bars

Next year no one should bother doing a campaign, what's it worth...

It only pushes eveyone else down. Why didn't everyone get behind George Michael - i'd love that to have challenged #1 instead of maybe making the top 10

Exactly! If anything, it increases sales of the X-Factor song ... in fact Cowell is probably behind all these other 'campaigns'.

I can understand people downloading the X-F song if they feel they must show loyalty to Simon Cowell the X-Factor winner ... but to fork out nearly £4 for it???? Why don't they just spend a fiver and go down to their local pub and support an up-and-coming singer/band who doesn't have the benefit of Cowell's 12 week advert!

Those pop bars are epicccc.

  • "Joe McElderry" (X Faxtor) outselling GaGa 5:1
  • "Rage Against the Machine" outselling GaGa 4:1

Joe & RATM pop bars still getting bigger. RATM has increased 1 bad more though .

I suggested that earlier as at least its a Christmas song but got shouted down as it was also involving XFactor so that would be no good !!

The RATM song is on the Epic label, which is part of Sony anyway, so, as was the case last year with Jeff Buckley(Sony owned the rights to that song) , Simon wins anyway.

I agree, they(Sony/Cowell) probably start these campaigns themselves.

In the last update, RATM seem to have gained a little ground on The Climb, but when most the people who download The Climb are out of school, it will pull away again I think.

I agree with the principal of RATM, but I think there were better songs which could have been released. It couldn't be by any artist who is likely to be invited to appear on the X Factor, but 2 suggestions of Christmas songs are Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses which despite being very well known, only reached number 41 in 1981, and Christmas Time by The Darkness which narrowly lost the last true race for Christmas number 1 in 2003.

If they had to go for a non Christmas song, preferably in the rock genre, what about Afterlife by Avenged Sevenfold. Despite failing to reach the top 150 when released last year, it is a brilliant rock song.

It's 29p on Amazon.

I have to back up Sammy on this one. As successful as she is, Gaga is by no means original. It is in fact daft to argue she is. Her style has been based on lot's of artists (one of them is the same one who inspired Christina's look). Her wacky dress sense is also far from original.

Btw, i'm not slating her. I actually have new found respect for her but original she is not.

Please enlighten us Six ? who has influenced GaGa (apart from Freddie of course who she is a pretty close female version of !!) And who is Christina's big influence ? i have her down as having many influences and deliberately choose some for her Back to Basic album to highlight the brilliance of music back in the day

Hmm..this time last year Alex was 400% ahead of the number 2 on itunes, and was never less than about 50% ahead the whole week.

MUCH closer so far this year!!!.

for Alex - was that between Sunday Midnight into Monday afternoon or was it Sunday Midnight to Sunday afternoon?

Cos Joe has had the equivialant of the latter

The pop bars aren't really epic whoever stated that Cheryl was much further ahead when she was released [i don't like her before anyone claims I am a stan].

Alex was 400% ahead during the late afternoon of the Sunday.

So Sunday 00:00 to about 18:00 the same day.

Listen to Rasputin by Boney M - that might give you some idea
