December 20, 200916 yr True but that is more due to the fact that Jay-Z does a style of music that isn't mainstream which is why he and similar aritists like Tinchy Stryder and Chipmunk and more urban/grime artists tend to do better with a more mainstream collaborator on their songs. Yeah true, I think those types of artists make better music with other artists making the song more interesting. I do like some of Jay-Z's solo stuff. His lyrics are amazing, Hope Forever Young does welll :D

On a side note I always find that when more underground artists make more mainstream music it tends to lose it's edge or they seem to dumb down their lyrics. I dunno it's hard to explain.
