AMERICAN Idol champ Kelly Clarkson can’t wait to party in her favourite city, Manchester.

 

The My Life Would Suck Without You star kicks off a six-date UK tour next month and loves the grit, rain and famous Mancunian sense of humour.

 

Kelly, 27, right, told me: “Manchester is one of my favourite places to play.

 

“For some reason those people there are really rad and go nuts. They are easily my best audience.

 

“This will be the first tour where I get some time off in between shows so I plan to check out the city properly.”

 

Although her feet have hardly touched the ground these past 12 months she has still found time to make new music.

 

“I’m writing and recording new songs,” she said. “I’ve written a ton with a bunch of songwriters I haven’t written with before.

 

“It’s turning out differently, like nothing I’ve released before. Some of it is very 80s influenced and some of it is singer/songwriter.”

 

But one thing she doesn’t want is a big name producer. She admitted: “I don’t like working with people who have worked with everyone.

 

“Sometimes I get blackmailed into doing so by my label, but I prefer collaboring with people who aren’t on the grid. I don’t want to sound exactly like other people’s records.”

 

Before she kicks off her latest tour, she hopes former nemesis Simon Cowell, 50, gets her involved in his star-studded Haiti quake charity single.

 

Kelly told me: “I didn’t even know about Simon’s song until today.

 

“But it sounds like it’s gonna be one of those tearjerkers. I only got back from holiday this week but I’d love to do something to help.”

And she believes Simon leaving American Idol won’t harm the show.

 

“It’s the biggest TV show ever in the States,” she said. “A lot of the housewives will miss him but the show will go on.”

Kelly Clarkson’s new motto should be “no rest for the weary.” The singer who is set to kick off the European leg of her All I Ever Wanted tour on February 5th in Ireland, has confirmed via her Twitter account that she’ll release her fifth studio album by end of this year.

 

That’s a pretty lofty goal considering she’s still touring in support of All I Ever Wanted, but as a KC fan, I’ll take what I can get. She went on to tease fans that they can expect a new single by “September,” and that she was headed to the studio to work on some tracks.

 

We’ll keep an eye on this, but still think there are a few songs on All I Ever Wanted that could still have legs, such as “Don’t Let Me Stop You” or even “Cry.” Watch Forest’s favorite, “Since You Been Gone,” after the jump.

Kelly Clarkson has spoken with Billboard about the range of styles fans can expect on the American Idol winner’s upcoming fifth album.

 

"We have several songs already penned for the next album," Clarkson trills. "I actually just was emailing a couple of writers and producers that I’m working with for the next album, and they’re everywhere, there’s everything from beats to more singer-songwriter country stuff to major pop stuff, so it’s all over the place right now. I have no idea what it’s going to sound like."

 

Previous writers for Clarkson include Ryan Tedder, Dr Luke, Max Martin, and Howard Benson, among others. (Hmm. Let’s hope Tedder isn’t sharing songs between Kelly and Beyonce, as if!)

Clarkson's first four albums have sold over an extraordinary 10 million copies in the U.S., and despite not having a clue what she’ll be doing next, Billboard voted Clarkson #8 in its Top Female Artists of 2009 list.

American Idol first season winner now pop superstar Kelly Clarkson will be releasing her fifth album this fall. The first single will be released in August/September. Some of the songs and clips that are leaking right now are from her upcoming new album. It's sad that her music is leaking, and she's pissed about it, but what can we do about it. I LOVE Wash Rinse Repeat. It's such a backhanded song :wub:

The chorus is pretty weak, but some of the best lyrics are in it.

The verses are actually AMAZING though.
