In any case, these awards are to find out the greatest and most outstanding nations and entries in their fields for the year of 2009 (which covers the contests from XIII to XXII). So, post up to five nominations for the following awards in this thread before 6pm on Wednesday 13th January 2010. Go for it. The award categories are as follows:

The BJSC X Choice Award for Most Inspired Country (in terms of entries) of 2009

The Leonville Memorial Award for Most Ill-Informed Entry Choice of 2009

The Outstanding Contribution to BJSC Award (awarded to the nation which has made the biggest contribution to the contest since its inception)

The Best Nation of 2009 Award

So yeah, start nomming ;o On another topic, can somebody get around to updating the Songs of the BuzzJack Song Contest thread quickly? We need XXI and XXII, stat :drama:

-Torchwood (for Break Your Heart and Bulletproof)

-Simondly (for Love Story mainly)

The Maneater Commemorative Award for Most Uninspired Entry of 2009

-Lorikeet XX - The Saturdays - Forever Is Over

-Scherzland XV - Pussycat Dolls/A R Rahman - Jai Ho

-Torchwood XVI - La Roux - Bulletproof

-Angelicland XIV - The Veronicas - Untouched

-Simondly XVI - Taylor Swift - Love Story

there were MANY more, but these were the ones I recall being on the verge of obviously very big things at the time/experiencing big things at the time + acts that had been used with success in the BJSC before

The Margaret Berger Award for Most Inspired Entry of 2009

-Kathaldazia XV - Jody - Wind It

-Espen XIX - Katzenjammer - A Bar In Amsterdam

-Eledan XXII - Ólafur Arnalds – Ljósið

-Quotosibb XIII - A.R. Rahman - O Saya

-Ojnoj XXI - Noah & The Whale - The First Days Of Spring

The BJSC X Choice Award for Most Inspired Country (in terms of entries) of 2009

-Ashton

-Kopecka

-Eledan (I'm willing to ignore Shakira)

-Dalisska

-Kathaldazia

The Leonville Memorial Award for Most Ill-Informed Entry Choice of 2009

-Scherzland XV - Pussycat Dolls/A R Rahman - Jai Ho

-Simondly XVI - Taylor Swift - Love Story

-New Rivermaya XVI - Ambassadors of Funk - Go, Mario, Go

-Xanaga XVII - JLS - Beat Again

-Kopečka XVIII - Jasmine - Hot Loving

The random.org Award for Most Unlucky Nation of 2009 (awarded to the country which has suffered the most due to circumstances beyond their control throughout the year)

-Dalisska (underrated)

-FNT Nickodonia (unlucky)

-Tinnmark (always just miss out when they DNQ)

-Palmyra (never Q'd?)

-Brokeback Mountain (bottom three guaranteed)

The random.org Award for Most Unlucky Entry of 2009

-Dalisska XV - Sophia Somajo - I-rony (sounded like a top 5 to me)

-Angelicland XVI - Flipsyde - When It Was Good (surely this was made for the top ten?)

-Ashton XVII – Nevio; Gabriella Cilmi – Non Ti Aspettavo (ridiculous DNQ)

-Kopečka XVI - Dead Disco - You're Out (Boots always smashes here!)

-Kylienips XIV - Pet Shop Boys - Love etc (an uber-cheap contest yet the best cheap song was the only one to miss the final!?!)

The Meddle Award for Most Underrated Entry of 2009

-Numayania XIV - Alcazar - We Keep On Rockin' (couldn't quite break into that cheap top ten despite making me an Alcaloon :snif:)

-Quotosibb XVIII - M$ney - Future (ok I was partly to blame giving it only 1 point in the final but this was at least one of the ten best songs in XVIII)

-Ashton XVII – Nevio; Gabriella Cilmi – Non Ti Aspettavo (so classy and gorgeous - DNQ :/)

-Torchwood XXII - Vanessa Amorosi – This Is Who I Am (best comeback of 2009!)

-Ojnoj XXI - Noah & The Whale - The First Days of Spring (so gorgeous, should have come top ten at least)

The Eva Simons Memorial Award for Most Overrated Entry of 2009

FSR Rontvia XIV - Uh Huh Her - Not A Love Song

-Kathaldazia XIX - Eva Simons - Silly Boy (it got around 150 points more than it deserved :()

-BaNG XXII - Ellie Goulding – Under The Sheets (like it but never thought it would win :o)

-Skall XVIII - Florence and the Machine - Cosmic Love (not one of my favourites on the album to be honest )

-Ojnoj XVII - LeToya - She Ain't Got (apologies Jonjo :snif: wasn't a fan)

-Numayania XX - Alphabeat - The Spell (I love it, although far less than I used to, but was surprised it won when the superior Boyfriend only came low top ten a year earlier - what's particularly upsetting was that the superior Stay The Night only finished 2nd behind the Silly Boy juggernaut a month earlier :snif:)

The Best Nation Comeback Award for 2009 (awarded to the country which has made, song-quality wise, the best improvement throughout the year)

-Mdice - so good now, even the DNQ's were better than most, wasn't a big fan of Mdice in 2008 two or three songs aside

-Ojnoj - become a very very respectable country now

-Ashton - 2009 was an infinitely better year for Ashton than 2008 in terms of originality and song quality for me, even if the results didn't reflect this :(

-Kopecka - Has always sent great songs but has been unrivalled for me in 2009

-FNT Nickodonia - worked out how to regularly qualify with some excellent songs :cheer:

The TMBP () Award for Best Discovery of 2009

Kathaldazia XV - Jody - Wind It

Nonsuch XIII - Nerina Pallot - When Did I Become Such A Bitch

Numayania XIV - Alcazar - We Keep On Rockin'

Espen XIX - Katzenjammer - A Bar In Amsterdam

Kopecka XXI - Dollface - Miss Jamaica

Ashton's Alex Roots and Botanikka's Nickiffer would be next

The Best Entry of 2009 Award

Herzebania XIII - Agnes - Release Me

Kathaldazia XV - Jody - Wind It

Nonsuch XIII - Nerina Pallot - When Did I Become Such A Bitch

Numayania XIV - Alcazar - We Keep On Rockin'

Espen XIX - Katzenjammer - A Bar In Amsterdam

I nearly always give my top points to my favourite discoveries, Release Me aside (:kink:) so the same list as above minus Dollface which would be sixth

The Worst Entry of 2009 Award

I'll go with musically instead of cheaply for this one;

-Kopecka XVIII - Jasmine - Hot Loving (I love Jasmine too but this cod-reggae lyrical mess was painful - any word on The Truth yet? :o)

-Herzebania XVI - Martina - Idi Leda Mi Okreni (1 point too many :kink:)

-Egabbac XX - Envy - Set Yourself On Fire (truly terrible song)

-Scherzland XX - Miley Cyrus - Party In The USA (one of my least favourite songs of the year)

-Triodopolis XIII - Corinna Jane - Resistance (I expected so much from the return of one of my favourite 2008 nations - this was like a One True Voice demo :()

special mentions to anyone sending either Metro Station or 3OH!3 :puke: (Starstrukk aside )

-Kopecka (Continues to do well with stunning original songs and inspires originality)

-Ashton (Risks FTW)

-Mdice (6 wins says it all)

-Angelicland (consistently great)

-Quotosibb - (their impact can't be ignored but we NEED another Black Butta contest re-defining entry  Hollywood is not one of these :kink:)

The Best Nation of 2009 Award

-Numayania - like FSR Rontvia's scandinavian brother

-Ashton - continues to inspire with great discoveries

-Kopecka - two consecutive 12's!

-Mdice - has in my eyes stepped up a notch in the last 12 months if that's possible - The Girl & The Robot, Tik Tok, Once I Was Like You, Your Body Is A Machine

-Greenfroze - made an instant impact and has had some deserved hits and tragically unfair DNQ's (Donkeyboy, Emmy Rossum)

:w00t: I thought this idea was quite weak when i was writing it down to my mod application but apparently it's not :kink:

What is the difference between ill-informed and uninspired entry? Is an ill-informed entry an entry that someone thinks is going to win the contest but ends up doing moderately? I.e. Nerina Pallot or Mira Craig?
I took ill-informed to mean either 'bizarre choice from a country that should know better' or 'song that would never do well in BJSC in a million years' e.g. Go Mario Go and whilst Go Mario Go was by no means an uninspired cheap choice (in fact it was rather a brave one ) it was certainly not one that was ever going to appeal to anyone here

Dalisska: Marie-Mai - Emmene-Moi [someone else sending a non-english song, how common, and this was the only cheap song in XIV]

Torchwood: Nicole Statements - Taller [James so knew people were gonna vote for her, cos of her amazing good looks]
