 poor Anna :snif:

M.A.G.I.C. was inspired though :o :cheer:

I like some of Velvet's songs but compared to other Swedish popstrels she seems a bit personality free, I've never invested in her album as I don't think I'd ever find the energy to listen to it

Here's another one. :P

Is there somewhere I can see all new countries in 2009? Since I am one of them and joined in late summer. ;)

ill-informed

*

having or showing little knowledge of something

Well, I was certainly an ill-informed participant at that time - and when choosing an entry/song, I had close to nothing of reference. But this interpretation would definitely also cover every other completely new participants as ill-informed participants, and therefore everyone of these choosing an ill-informed entry.. not only the entries you strongly dislike?

Look:

The Leonville Memorial Award for Most Ill-Informed Entry Choice of 2009

New Rivermaya XVIII - 2NE1 - Fire

Greenfroze XV - W - Ai No Imi Wo Oshiete

New Rivermaya XVI - Ambassadors of Funk - Go, Mario, Go

New Rivermaya XIX - Tynisha Kelli - Gonna Be Okay

Simondly XX - Texas – Breathless

The Worst Entry of 2009 Award

New Rivermaya XVIII - 2NE1 - Fire

Numayania XIX - Alcazar - Stay The Night

Greenfroze XV - W - Ai No Imi Wo Oshiete

New Rivermaya XVI - Ambassadors of Funk - Go, Mario, Go

Eledan XVI - Caroline Af Ugglas - Snälla Snälla

Which brings me to my point. There is nothing of subjective matter to decide when a new participant chooses an entry. It’s a fact that every song sent by someone in this situation is bound to be ill-informed, even if the entry wins. On the other hand, Simondly in XX should’ve known better at that time, if he’d have been a participant for some time, that is. As with New Rivermaya in XIX. Or, perhaps, the Leonville award is just a copy of The worst entry award?

Not every new participant is ill-informed - a lot of them come in with stuff that will obviously appeal to the tastes of the BJSC, or at least offer an interesting diversion :P Some entries however, such as W or Ambassadors of Funk, are very much the sorts of things that this award covers. It is distinct from the worst entry award as that for the song that, for some reason or another, you believe to be the worst entry of the year (be it via the fact it's so well-known there was barely any point in sending it other than for a good result, or musically-wise). It is natural there will be overlap with awards of this nature, but it's not a copy ;)

You can tell you're bad when you're playing second fiddle to SEPTEMBER. I don't even know if September even HAS a personality, so Velvet is as generic as they come for me.

I understand what people say about Scandi-pop being cold, faceless and emotionless when Velvet and September are seemingly the faces of the genre but I do tend to find acts like Agnes and Alcazar slightly different - they always seem very fun and full of personality in interviews, particularly Alcazar who are incredibly likeable as people. Plus the genre can be so joyful sometimes - The Sound of Arrows for example

I can't have been too ill-informed, I came 4th in my first contest! [/showoff]

CASE IN POINT.

I could've sent a song like this at that point, but that would not have been based on any information BJSC-wise. It would be random, unless I was familiar with the appeal of the ontest beforehand. I agree that it's more of a vague copy/overlap, and if you sent the ultimate cheap song as your first, it would've been unnecessary and probably just to get a good results, but on other hand - if someone being a participant for some time - sends a song just like this, or a song that they should've figured out is crap to send to BJSC, wouldn't only this make them eligible for the award?

I think you're beginning to over-analyse it at this point :P You've said the same point as me in your latter point, it has never been stated that the Leonville Prize is only for newbies.

Omg I know I am :drama: shall stop now :heehee:

Let's just end it at me not agreeing with Quotosibb, it isn't such a big deal anyway :cheer:

No Agnes and Alcazar especially are horrible too.

The Sound of Arrows are lovely though. <3 I wouldn't really classify them as Scandi-pop though, but that could just be me wanting lump all the acts I hate into one genre. I mean in the end it is all pop. Sound of Arrows are just more electronic-ish imo.

I love how every single one of the people who've given my songs 12s have failed to nominate them for Entry of the Year  Well, I suppose someone had to fill the 'AMAZING FOR, LIKE, A WEEK' niche :kink:
