Great for Florence :D

Kinda makes you wonder if there is a small chance that Ke$ha or Journey can catch up and climb up to #1?

Some people are forgetting Florence was on Jools Holland last night she played 3 tracks, Rabbit Heart, YGTL, and some other random track

The other ''random'' track was Drumming Song. She was amazing on Jools Holland.

It's funny how the thread has gone all Florence but I for one I am a fan of her. I just download You've Got The Love from her Lungs albums. I have preview all the tracks of Lungs and really really like it. I think buy as well. Climb Florence Climb! You've Got The Love is an epic track.

Does Florence any gigs in London I so want to see her live. She has amazing, haunting, unique voice.

Anyway, how is Rihanna's Hard doing? I saw the video yesterday on the Box.

I'm not sure what to make of Florence's cover of "You Got The Love".

There's not much difference between hers and the original.

Why is her version credible, but an X-Factor version not?

Personally I think X-factor covers can be good and bad like any other cover. Leona's 'Run' is a good example of a track that had a lot to it for anyone who wasn't blinkered by her being a talent show winner - but the difference between Florence's 'You've Got The Love' and Joe McElderry's 'The Climb' is the personality for me, it's just got a kick to it. And I don't fully agree that it's really so indistinguishable from Candi Staton's, which is why quite a few people are bleching at its rise!

I'm odd with Florence, can I think she's wonderful one day and terrible the next, the same performance seems to sound different at different times. Her voice can really grate but if it gets you at the right time it really works.

I was saying that yesterday. It depends what mood you're in. I feel she is either incredible, or truly terrible.

Maybe because 1. It was HER decision to record it and 2. It's sung pretty well and doesn't have a disgraceful amount of autotune on it like Joe does.

I'm no fan of Joe or the X-Factor (I don't watch it).

But Florence's cover is pretty similar to to the original - I could understand if it was done in a different style. I just don't get why her version is more credible than say if Leona or Alex covered it.

Because Florence chose to cover it herself and Leona and Alex don't have much of a say in their music hence why they don't have the credibility factor. (see what I did there :P )

In an interview a while ago, Leona said that Simon has encouraged her to fight her corner when it comes to making decisions.. I think they have more say than what most people think.. especially with Leona and Alex saying they were suprised about how non-controlling Simon is with regards to their career.

Yeah, but it's in their contracts that they're not allowed to say anything bad about him

Personally I find Florence's cover very bland, I'm not surprised it's #4 though - BBC1 seemed to play it about 60 times yesterday with endless promo.
Florence is doing amazing! It seems like another In For The Kill, although taking more time to climb in the top 10. :P

Florence + The Machine's Dog Days Are Over and Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) is at #46 and #47. :o
