You may well rememder, that January 1982 saw the start of three new ITV Channels as ATV, Southern, & Westward lost their franchises. THey were replaced by Central, TVS, & TSW. Both TVS & TSW lost theirs in 1993. Also in 1982, we looked forward to the likes of "The Young Ones", Boys From The Black Stuff", "Smiley`s People", & "The Bounder". Not forgetting the end of "It`s A Knockout". We also lost the Generation Game because Jimmy Tarbuck would not take over from Larry Grayson. This led to Noel Edmonds "Late Late Breakfast Show". Oh, Jimmy has a lot to answer for!

Hang on for the top up to minute songs soon...while you wait listen to another retro chart: This one from an original POTP with David Jacobs, when we had the big freeze of 1962/63. During the period of Dec 62 - March 63, it snowed for weeks, on end...now imagine that 47 years on, fun or what! People would have to get back to basics, and leave their cars permanently in their gardens/garages. Ain`t it funny that during this weather, that people seem more friendly on Public Transport, and when you`re out walking?! ;)

Iyaz gains on Sidney all the time, and on Wednesday night, there was just a handful between them.

Thanks Dave!

I've still yet to hear the top 2 and probably won't get to hear them until Sunday. I have a feeling they may sound as bad as I am imagining they will be...

Big thanks for the 1982 chart, some excellent singles in there and I owned quite a few of them (I counted 11 of that top 40). And yes, the UK was as snowy and more colder back in January 1982 than it is now. I suppose it wasn't such a rare experience then so everyone just battled through it. The second week in January 1982 was the worst of that winter with massive snowfalls and blizzards and record breaking low temperatures in both England and Scotland that have yet to be beat.

I've still yet to hear the top 2 and probably won't get to hear them until Sunday. I have a feeling they may sound as bad as I am imagining they will be...

Yep, they're both equally horrendous

Thanks Dave

My fave chart from 1982, Cambodia fell hard that week.

Just outside the top 60, Rob...I did put it in.
