Posted January 5, 201015 yr good news from ananova.com; Retail giant Asda to slash prices Supermarket chain Asda is to cut prices on thousands of products by an average of 13%. Throughout January, the price of 3,600 essential items including potatoes, carrots, grapes, bananas, milk, nappies, rice, bread, cheese and yoghurt will fall. A spokesman said: "The reductions are long-term cuts, with the vast majority lasting a minimum of six to 12 weeks." The set of cuts is the biggest at Asda for more than 10 years, with one in five products across the store reduced in price. Examples include bananas falling from 98p to 77p per kilo, and seedless white grapes from £4.47 to £1.77 per kilo. The spokesman declined to give a figure for how much the initiative would cost the chain or to say whether any other prices would rise.
January 6, 201015 yr good news for us maybe, but the fruit producers will be out of pocket. grapes and bananas are grown in much poorer countries, i wonder what the consequences are ..... or are asda putting a penny or two on other goods to cover the cost of slashing foodstuffs?
January 6, 201015 yr Just watch the prices rise to higher than what they were originally after the promotion is finished. Such a Tesco trick -_-
January 6, 201015 yr ours do..... but you should save and re-use them.. using them once is very wasteful.

January 6, 201015 yr I sometimes do and we have about 20 here but usually forget and end up having to buy several more.
January 6, 201015 yr I sometimes do and we have about 20 here but usually forget and end up having to buy several more. How can you forget ? It's not like you have a busy life you lounge around at home all day
January 6, 201015 yr How can you forget ? It's not like you have a busy life you lounge around at home all day Well I just set off without them! Went with the mrs. on Saturday and we'd to buy 6 and she charged us 5p times 6. I kicked up a right fuss. Just kept taking them and she saw me and kept adding another 5p. Tesco from now on for me but even they are limiting them. Edited January 6, 201015 yr by Victor Meldrew

They should be charging for bags, it is sheer lazyness to go to supermarket without bags and just get new ones, there is no excuse for anyone not to keep a supply of bags in the car/house and keep using them Edited January 6, 201015 yr by B.A Baracus
January 6, 201015 yr Morrisons checkout staff are told to limit bags. If you're too lazy to recycle you really have no right to complain seeing as you're just creating more landfill waste. You should be charged for that imo
January 7, 201015 yr Most supermarkets stock 'Bags for Life' and they're about 10p each and they replace them for free when they break :P
