January 10, 201016 yr 35 Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind (Part II) [D] http://www3.hmv.co.uk/hmv/Large_Images/HMV/88697465712.JPG Chart Run: 52-48-xx--35 [3 wks] Format: download only track Precocious R&B vocalist/pianist Alicia Keys was hand-picked by Clive Davis as one of the flagship artists for his post-Arista label, J Records. No doubt he was as impressed by her multitude of skills (Keys took a large role in the writing, arranging, and production of her debut album) as by her music, which mates contemporary hip-hop accoutrements to an old-school soul sensibility a la Jill Scott or D'Angelo. Only 20 years old at the time of the album's release, Keys already seemed poised for a major career built upon her soulful voice and classically trained piano chops. While hip-hop played a much bigger role on her second effort, 2003's THE DIARY OF ALICIA KEYS, it was a smash nonetheless, and subsequent recordings have further pushed the boundaries of R&B - HMV Video here (live): Chart history (Year peak title): 2001 03 Fallin' 2002 37 Brotha Part II (Angie Stone Featuring Alicia Keys And Eve) 2002 18 A Woman's Worth 2002 06 Gangsta Lovin' (Eve Featuring Alicia Keys) 2002 24 Girlfriend 2003 19 You Don't Know My Name 2004 18 If I Ain't Got You 2006 62 Ghetto Story (Cham Featuring Alicia Keys) 2007 06 No One 2008 53 Like You'll Never See Me Again 2008 09 Another Way To Die (Alicia Keys And Jack White) 2009 02 Empire State Of Mind (Jay-Z feat. January 10, 201016 yr Jeez, I'm so slow and behind with this. I don't even know who the hell Justin Bieber is. I wish I wouldn't know too :heehee:
January 10, 201016 yr Where is this sudden Justin Bieber hype coming from? The kid has been sll over media in 2009 and had 2 hits. Why has the UK woken up just now? :D especially by buying such an old track as One Love... Gosh, another generic Timbaland song... this one is listenable at least.
January 10, 201016 yr Morning After Dark needs to decide what way it's going - ever since release it's gone up and down alternately. I bet it'll fall next week. It's okay, got a bit boring now though. Where is this sudden Justin Bieber hype coming from? The kid has been sll over media in 2009 and had 2 hits. Why has the UK woken up just now? :D especially by buying such an old track as One Love... He only released it last week... I wish he hadn't though, it's so awful.
