This is amazing. In parts it reminds me so much of Joni Mitchell circa The Hissing Of Summer Lawns and that is most definitely a good thing indeed.

It's difficult to pick out highlights as most of the album has aspects going for it but I'd probably opt for Easy, Have One On Me, '81, Good Intentions Paving Co, In California, Soft As Chalk, Autumn, Ribbon Bows, Kingfisher and Does Not Suffice. Hmmm, I've still picked out virtually the entire thing.

Got around to finally listen to it properly on crowded public transport on the way to the Uni :( and this is fantastic! Good Intensions Paving Company is probably my favourite off the CD1. Not memorized much songs from other CDs but hey a lot of time i have - to do that :magic:
I think it's better than Ys, which never really 'clicked' for me. The last 2 minutes of Go Long are incredible, as well as the whole of '81 and Good Intentions. I've not really listened to the 3rd CD, because i keep literally falling asleep by the time to get to it (i often listen to music when doing nada) (this is a good thing btw).

This is an incredible album (at the very least a 4.5 Star album). I doubt I will play a different CD on my Midi HiFi over the next two weeks, whilst I appreciate its musical brilliance.

Selecting highlights is pointless at this stage.

Oh, the irony of listening to this artist whom I first heard on BBC Radio6 Music on today of all days. :(

I'd agree with most of those highlights, just throw in Go Long, On a Good Day, Baby Birch, and Jackrabbits. Though I suppose at that point most of the album is highlights.

AS IT SHOULD BE THOUGH.

Ys is still better. But I have a feeling this will be my album of 2010. It's hard to imagine anything beating it at this point.

Only listened to the first 3 tracks so far - and am totally blown away.

She is the most talented lady in music at the moment.

It's reminding me a lot of Kate Bush's The Kick Inside album.

Can't wait to see her again in May ;-)

I got this today, excellent album, Good Intentions Paving Co and Kingfisher are my two stand out tracks so far on first listen along with 81 which I already heard.

Well worth the money, bit annoying changing CDs

I've been concentrating on cd2 which I'm not very impressed with. On a Good Day is really very good and I can see the hook in In California but it does nothing for me.

The second disc is the weakest for me too. My dad asked me to make him a single disc copy, it was really difficult narrowing it down but in the end I went with:

01 Jackrabbits

02 Go Long

03 Have One On Me

04 '81

05 Good Intentions Paving Co.

06 Soft As Chalk

07 Baby Birch

08 On A Good Day

09 Easy

10 Ribbon Bows

11 Kingfisher

12 Does Not Suffice

'81 has really clicked with me this week, for some reason I wasn't blown away with it from the leak but I just can't listen to it enough now.

'81 was instant with me. I played it about 30 times in the first 24 hours that it had leaked in youtube.

OMG at the album (s)

It's absolutely amazing

Good Intentions Paving Co. is on repeat this week.

Disc 3 is so far my favourite, closely followed by Disc 1.

My physical copy of this finally showed up the other day :cheer:

It's the most beautiful album I've ever owned :P The artwork and little box it came in are amazing

I'm gonna have to listen to it a fair few times before judging the best tracks though.

FINALLY found a copy this weekend...!

Hopefully she can live up the expectations,...!

*Listens* :w00t:

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally grew on me to the level i wanted :D

Incredible stuff! Can't decide on my favourite though, every song is amazing in its own way.
