I think this could've been a good number 1 contender without all the charity singles around - it surely has been played on music channels a lot more and it's really catchy. he could be big in 2010. such an amazing song. :w00t:

'Hurtful' is a great track. Definitely deserves to be a monster hit and should easily (well, hopefully) go top 5 at least in the UK charts. It won't be no. 1 though as Simon Cowell & Co 'Everybody Hurts' will be dominating the UK charts the week 'Hurtful' is released. Who knows, this might even peak at #2 in the UK.

Oh, and it's currently no. 5 in Denmark. :w00t:

Will it actually be possible for this to be hit?

Surely it's been floating around for far too long?

Most people didn't even know he existed before he was added to the Radio 1 playlist, I doubt it will be a problem

The Starsmith edit of this just makes it so much more amazing. I'm actually quite pained that this is doing so badly! :snif:

Agreed! :(

Can't believe it's looking not to touch the Top 40!

I was thinking it would flop (Low Top 40 style) or be an immense Top 10 entry! UGH! DO SOME PROMO FOOL!

I love the Starsmith edit but nothing beats the original for me really...it's so gorgeous that it didn't really require extra production in the first place

anyhow, I shall put its UK flop down to the charts being largely dire at the moment - it's too good  :(

Album looking to flop as hard as the single then, hardly surprising I suppose :(

It's always been a decent debut but the two new UK tracks, Standing Where You Left Me and Amelia are both great. There's a (slightly) new mix of Don't Bring Flowers too which I like - maybe it's being lined up for a full scale release? The other obvious single on here is Isn't It Obvious but I'm not really sure if they'll bother with another single after the flop of Hurtful...

Im really suprised as to how baddly he's done tbh. At one point I was fairly confident of a low top 15-20 hit at the worst for Hurtful.

I plan on giving his album a listen sometime this week.

the 4 iTunes bonus tracks all sound great - including an Agnes duet, another duet which sounds much better, a Metallica cover and another song which sounds great too! might download them later
Swedish chart run;

37-48-28-41-OUT-48-40-OUT-60-OUT-47-38-OUT-15-16-13-35-22-21-26-11-15-20-30-28-21-22-29-41-38-29-23-34-34-46-54-29-38-34-57-OUT-53

the Swedish charts are a bit eccentric, this chart run wouldn't be out of the ordinary there

Just like Jason Mraz's chart run in the UK

I'm a bit disappointed that this song did so badly as I quite liked it, though I guess there was nothing new or unusual about the song, which is what sells these days...

unless you have some generic US R&B to release and then you can be sure to land in the top 5 :drama:

Listening to this album on Spotify! Here's my first listen review:

06 'Bump In The Road'

10 'Hurtful'

08 'Don't Bring Flowers'

10 'Isn't It Obvious'

07 'The Thanks I Get'

08 'Standing Where You Left Me'

08 'Bitter End'

07 'First Time'

06 'Love Me To Pieces'

07 'Wanna Be Loved'

09 'Back To Bed'

09 'Amelia' <---- Reminds me of 'Hey There Delilah' by Plain White T's! Nice song!

This album isn't the bland fest I originally thought it'd be! :o I honestly thought it'd be more like 'Amelia' and 'Hurtful' however it's a very pleasent surprise!

I've had it for a while as 'Hassle' but the UK version (which adds Standing Where You Left Me and Amelia) and new mixes of some of the tracks are better - here's my rate;

7.5 'Bump In The Road'

10 'Hurtful'

8.5 'Don't Bring Flowers'

9.5 'Isn't It Obvious'

7.5 'The Thanks I Get'

9.0 'Standing Where You Left Me'

7.5 'Bitter End'

7.0 'First Time'

7.0 'Love Me To Pieces'

8.5 'Wanna Be Loved'

7.5 'Back To Bed'

9.5 'Amelia'

8.0 'If I Could Build My Whole World Around You (duet with Agnes)'

8.5 'Nothing Else Matters'

8.5 'I Probably Want You Now'

9.5 'Who's Gonna Walk You Home' (duet with Malin Dahlstrom)

Very nice, a few filler-ish tracks in the middle but I don't dislike them. I like all of the iTunes bonus tracks considerably more than some of the songs on the album, particularly Who's Gonna Walk You Home - gorgeous  I prefer Lucie Silvas' cover of Nothing Else Matters. It's definitely a grower of an album though, took quite a few listens to sink in properly.

We should write to the record company and get the following recorded and released:

Erik Hassle feat. Lil Wayne, Lil Jon, Lil Bow Bow and all other Lil rap stars - Hurtful :w00t:

A surefure #11 :(

Nothing would fill me with horror more than Lil Jon shouting over the top of some tacky urban re-working of Hurtful :heehee:

...but it's working for Chiddy Bang. Take a great song ('Kids'). Sample part of the track and rap over the top. Release to iTunes and watch the 11-16 year old target audience download it in their thousands.

The irony is that a rap reworking of 'Hurtful' probably would do better in the charts.

See I actually like the Chiddy Bang song because the rap is quite clever and memorable and the song uses the sample well. Lil' Jon's shouting on the other hand is completely awful to me - it renders Do You Remember and other songs he features on unlistenable to me, I can't bear it. :(

...but Lil Jon's aggressive growl sounds hilarious on Usher's 'Yeah!'.

Hmm, the rap is quite clever? I think I need to listen to this again - perhaps pay attention to what Chiddy Bang is rapping about. Rap just doesn't appeal to me 95% of the time. The other 5% are proper rap gems but, imo, are few and far between.

I like a lot of rap songs these days - particularly if the rest of the song does something different. The last 30 seconds or so of Opposite Of Adults is great :D I know you're a fan of Dizzee Rascal anyway so you must like some rap! My current personal chart #1 has a decent rap segment in it too (link in my sig should you want to listen to), which adds some variety to the song in my opinion.

The thing with Dizzee Rascal is that he's also had Calvin Harris, Chrome and Armand Van Helden to dance up his tracks which make them far more interesting to me. A generic US rap song (look at the US Billboard Top 100 this week - must be plenty in there) bores me completely. They don't even attempt to make the song interesting. 'Bedrock' is crap, imo. It's a waste of a good melody. The song could've been so much more but ends up being so much less. :(
