Suede are set to re-form - without Bernard Butler - to play in the annual Teenage Cancer Trust event at the Albert Hall in March. See the story in latest site news for further details.

I might actually get the chance to add to the 30-something times I've seen them already :yahoo:

A great band in their early mid 1990s heyday. The Drowners remains one of the greatest debut singles of all-time. Whilst their second album Dog Man Star was an epic album under appreciated by the public.

For me they were never the same once Bernard Butler left. Although Coming Up was a pretty good album with catchy tracks it lacked the emotional depth of their first two albums.

Dog Man Star is still my favourite album of all time so I'm bound to think it's under-appreciated.

Coming Up was one of my favourite albums from my childhood, and I like a lot of their other stuff too (well, nothing after the Head Music era tbh), so I'm not sure about this if any new material comes of it.

From what I've seen, it's just a one-off gig so there's unlikely to be any new material.

It was in my Top 10 albums of the 1990s and comfortably in my all time Top 50 albums.

Of the album tracks I thought this should have been a single from it where they perfected their vintage early 1970s David Bowie meets The Smiths hybrid:

Suede's first 3 albums are surely in the running for the best beginning to a career ever, no?

Unfortunately they also make a good bid for worst ending to a career with the woeful A New Morning also.

One of the best bands of the 90s in my opinion...even up to the much-maligned Head Music, which I loved. We'll forget the last album, as everybody should.

As debut albums go, theirs was astonishingly brilliant, too.

It's a shame Butler isn't with them on this gig.... given a few more albums, the Butler/Anderson partnership could have matched that of Morrissey/Marr, I think.

One of the best gigs I ever saw was Suede at The Liverpool Krazy House in 1992.

Absolutely brilliant band even after Bernard left.

Suede Mark 1 were one of the great bands of the 90s. Frighteningly good first two albums plus all the non album tracks of the same era. No other band has had such a great start since.

Then Coming Up which is a decent pop album but didn't possess the heart-stopping brilliance of Suede and Dog Man Star.

Even if Bernard had stayed Brett's lyrics would have descended into $h!t, in my opinion.

That Tear's album was horrendous.

Looking forward to see how this goes, I'm a bit of a fan and hopefully will get to this if I can get tickets over.

Hopefully this gig is being used to 'tread the water' before deciding whether to have a full blown reunion, something that I whole heartedly support.

B-B :o

Good to see you here... this place actually has quite a healthy alternative section, hopefully we'll all settle in quite well here.

All it took was some good news  .

I would have to agree that Suede were never really quite the same Post-Bernard... And I am somewhat disappointed that this isn't the original line-up... Surprised actually seeing as how Brett and Bernard managed to get back together for The Tears project....

Bernard has had some pretty strong things to say about bands re-forming so he would have found it difficult to take part. It's a great shame but he's only being consistent.

And the tickets sold out within the hour. Bad news for everyone who slept in and missed out (including me). The good news is seeing how quickly it sold out, the chances of a full blown tour are quite high indeed.

:(

No joy for me either so I'll also be hoping for a full tour.

I think that someone up there likes me:

Suede have confirmed two intimate live shows for next month.

The recently-reunited Britpop group will perform a pair of dates prior to their Teenage Cancer Trust set at London's Royal Albert Hall on March 24.

The band will play at London's 100 Club on March 20 and the Manchester Ritz on March 21.

Tickets for the gigs will be auctioned off for the charity from February 26. More information is available on the Teenage Cancer Trust website.

I've just sent you a message about this  Should have looked here first. The 100 Club is a decent venue - not very big though so not many tickets. I know nothing about the Manchester venue. Good luck with tickets.
