On the singles chart Reprise/Warner Bros’s Iyaz has opened up a moderate lead over Owl City in a bid to spend a third successive week at number one. Island-signed Owl City’s Fireflies, which climbed 50-2 on the chart last Sunday, is the week’s second top-seller so far, although it is being chased by Glee Cast’s version of Don’t Stop Believin’. The Epic-issued single charted at five last weekend, one of seven new entries in the Top 200 from the E4 musical and drama series.

The biggest-selling new single of the week at this stage is Won’t Go Quietly by Data/MoS’s Example, currently ranked sixth for the week, while Fascination/Polydor’s Girls Can’t Catch are heading for a Top 20 debut with Echo.

Lower down the Top 40, expect new entries to include releases from 14th Floor/Warner Bros’s Biffy Clyro (Many Of Horror) and Hard2Beat/MoS’s Fugative.

Lostprophets are battling Paolo Nutini and Florence + The Machine in a bid to score their second successive number one on the UK albums chart.

According to OCC figures, the Visible Noise act have opened up an early sales lead over Atlantic-signed Nutini and Florence with their newly-issued The Betrayed. Florence climbed to number one last Sunday with the Island-issued Lungs, some six months after the album was first released.

Lostprophets secured their first number one on the chart in July 2006 with Liberation Transmission having previously peaked at number four with their 2004 set Start Something.

15-year-old Canadian pop/R&B star Justin Bieber is also expected to debut in the top five this Sunday with his Def Jam/Mercury album My World. The album has already topped the chart in Canada, while it peaked at six on the Billboard 200 in the US.

Following her appearance last Friday on Jonathan Ross’s BBC1 chat show, Mercury’s Pixie Lott is likely to move further up the Top 10 this coming weekend having climbed from 14 last Sunday. Her album Turn It Up’s sales are presently 48% up on the week.

Just seven months after reaching the Top 20 with previous album Hombre Lobo, Cooperative Music/Vaggrant’s the Eels will enter the Top 40 this Sunday with another new album, End Times. It will be joined on the chart by Interscope/Polydor’s One Republic whose second album Waking Up looks set to arrive in the Top 20, while Rhino’s newly-issued soundtrack to the movie Alvin & the Chipmunks 2 – The Squeakuel should debut in the 40.

Isn't Broken Heels out physically this week too?

Fingers crossed The Saturdays have climbed into the top 40 with Wordshaker and EGO has climbed a couple.

I hope One Republic manage to climb a few in singles and get a good album position.

yes - i think she could get top five

Hope Broken Heels is in the top 5, Example in the Top 10, Owl City for #!

Although her single is only 8 - her Album looks as though its on the rise, so not too bad.

And the Saturdays seem to be turning this era around slowly.

Didn't expect GCC to be top 15 - I don't think they'll sustain that till sunday

Pleased for GCC :) Surprised Fugatives in top 40

Edited by Anterny

Biffy Clyro is twice there in the top 40 (at 30+3 and 40-2)
