Anyone know when the first knock out is today?

Does anyone know what is happening with Best British Single.. I thought their was 1 song eliminated everyday ? :S

They sound accurate- but you just never know with the BRITs, one artist who is favourite gets the 'BRITs snub'- It could well be Lady Gaga who gets it this year as females are usually the victims, I somehow doubt JLS will get snubbed as two of their awards are voted for by the public and FATM have won critics choice award, so will have a slight advantage

 

previous examples of snubs: Lily Allen in 2007, Leona Lewis in 2008, Coldplay in 2009

Can anyone really see JLS winning Breakthrough Act?

 

Also if Beat Again wins best single it will literally be horrfic. Never would have such a bland uninspired piece of tripe have won Best Single in previous years.

Is Dizzee Rascal the favourite to win best male? I don't see why, he was the underdog imo. As much I would like Robbie to get this he hasn't been given a 'proper' Brit for many years, and I thought this award had Nutini's name on it...

Jls (or Cheryl) will sadly win Best single, but I don't see Jls getting the breakthrough act.

I think X F acts are usually snubbed, and I don't think there is any reason for it to stop this year. If they start getting a handful of Brits, the awards will lose their power.

The BBA is voted for by the public- JLS are probably the best known there, so look the most likely

 

same for BS, the public vote- JLS' loyal fanbase will vote in storms (my mum and my sister have already voted! :rolleyes: ), it is the most popular single/act that always wins and not the best- as it is the public voting (which is rather depressing)

The Brits have been kind of inventing categories of honorary awards (that doesn't make them less important) to give Robbie credit for his previous work. It's been a long time since he last got a award for his current work and I don't see why people believe the academy worships Robbie, and are so sure he is going to win this. It would be a pleasant surprise for me though.

I don't hate Jls, they've done very good so far. It's just not the music I would buy, go to see in a concert or vote for an award. And I predict they will take an award home at the night of the Brits :)

JLS probably don't deserve to win Best British song.. but I think they would be worthy winners of Breakthrough Act.. They have done very well this past year 2 number 1s 3 MOBOs 1 million selling album.. 2 Sold out tours etc..

To be honest Florence deservesd it more at least she never needed a tv show and teenage girls to get her where she is, it was genuine good music not generic tripe.

It can't be said that JLS *deserve* it. I mean they haven't done anything to deserve it. They didn't build themselves up like FATM, rather, they were already known in their debut year thanks to the X Factor. Before anyone says I'm hating on JLS in favour of FATM, I'm not. In all honesty, I strongly dislike FATM... Boring music and a tad over-rated *in my opinion*. But JLS haven't done anything to deserve a breakthrough award, because they didn't breakthrough. They were catapulted to fame thanks to Simon Cowell, none of the work was their own. They (badly, in my opinion) sang songs which were written for them and through together an album before their hype from X Factor 2008 ended and just in time for X Factor 2009, where they could secure a second number one single and a number one album. None of this was breakthrough...

I think GaGa has it in the bag. 2009 has been her year and she deserves it.

I think Paolo Nutini's a cert for best male, I'd like to think Florence was for breakthough as well, but seeing as it's voted for by Radio 1 listeners and the GBP, it could be JLS, the only person I really want to see win on the night is Lady Gaga, I couldn't care less about the rest.

Okay fair enough but that was just my opinion..

Is anyone else slightly annoyed at how Susan Boyle has been snubbed completely? She had the biggest selling album of last year, and she's been snubbed for not being the norm :rolleyes:

 

I'm not a big fan of hers, but I think it's wrong.

I agree the BRITS panel are like a group of stale, dirty old men if you are not the type of person who is part of the mainstream looks wise or popular amougst the young you are excluded.Susan Boyle has come along way with her difficulties and she has made such a huge impression internationally and sales wise that it would have sent out a strong message to include her.I think this year has got to be the waekest list of nominees ever.
