January 24, 201016 yr Well done to Owl City. I'm off now, see you next week here in the chart thread :D
January 24, 201016 yr *queue the 'he's no Postal Service is he' haters* I don't think he's any Postal Service but I still think it's a pretty boring song. :P :(
January 24, 201016 yr 1 (from 2) Owl City - Fireflies [D] *1st week at #1* http://images.musicnet.com/albums/036/571/319/c.jpeg Chart Run: 50-2-1 [3 wks] Brilliant track. Glad to see 'Fireflies' no. 1 in the UK. ^_^ Heard this for the first time last summer and always had that gut feeling it could be a massive hit. Now it is!!! :w00t:
January 24, 201016 yr Reggie Yates would be rubbish at playing Poker. For goodness sake his voice gave the game away, and he's supposed to be an actor. He also said "Iyaz has had a good run at number 1" But anyway, soooo glad Owl is #1
January 24, 201016 yr Well, there doesn't seem to be anything to stop Owl staying at #1 for a second week, as Stranded ain't getting to #1 at the rate it's going. Everybody Hurts will knock it off though. Anyway, another week, another beautiful song at #1 arguably totally ripping off a duo from the early 2000s. See you guys next week!

Now it is!!! :w00t: we both gave it 12 points in fact :P I've been listening to it for 6 months now and I'm yet to get bored of it...
January 24, 201016 yr Well, at least he gets a week there- he could hold on next week, before the Haiti song and Jedward invade the top 2 see you next week, guys! Edited January 24, 201016 yr by chart wizard
January 24, 201016 yr I love how much stick Owl City get for ripping somebody off doesn't nearly every act in the chart rip off somebody else, how many acts in this week's top 40 are completely original, and couldn't be compared to anybody else? really not that many...
January 24, 201016 yr another great chart week. I can't wait for the next couple weeks. I'm curious to see how Girls Alouds Untouchable will do with their campaign and then see how Sugababes are gonna do with their new single and then cheryl cole. lots of things to come
January 24, 201016 yr we both gave it 12 points in fact :P I've been listening to it for 6 months now and I'm yet to get bored of it... Likewise, and it's five weeks at no. 1 in my personal chart are deserved. However, Owl City were replaced at no. 1 this weekend by Hurts 'Wonderful Life'. I bet Hurts didn't even make the top 75!!! -_- Why wasn't 'Wonderful Life' released to iTunes this week? A 12" release wouldn't have done anything to help its chart performance. :(
January 24, 201016 yr I don't think he's any Postal Service but I still think it's a pretty boring song. :P :( Plus I hope the songwriters (David Paich & Jeff Porcaro) from 1980s AOR band Toto get the royalties they deserve seeing how they are sueing him due to its "musical similarities" on the Owl City single chorus to this worldwide 1983 smash hit (USA#1, UK#3) verse. aCca5mPMp9A

A 12" release wouldn't have done anything to help its chart performance. :( because it's achingly cool to be super indie and keep it's release as minimal as possible as a 'buzz single' with the proper lead single, the inferior Blood, Tears & Gold getting a proper full release in May -_-

I've always liked 'Africa' and 'Fireflies' is brilliant but never noticed the similarities until now

January 24, 201016 yr At least this has a week! I'm pretty certain it will hold on next week as well :-) Is that Haiti album going to be allowed to chart? It won't be in the main chart as it will count as a compilation.
January 24, 201016 yr because it's achingly cool to be super indie and keep it's release as minimal as possible as a 'buzz single' with the proper lead single, the inferior Blood, Tears & Gold getting a proper full release in May -_- Oh!!! :( I watched the video to that on YouTube but, as you say, it's definitely inferior to 'Wonderful Life'. :( I also noticed that the video to 'Wonderful Life' has been removed from Hurts YouTube channel. Haven't a clue why they've done that.
January 24, 201016 yr So glad Owl City made #1! Haha, and apparently Adam Young is shy and doesn't like people! LOL at the girl who said "I like his voice, it's sort of echo-ey." It's called autotune, love.
