March 13, 201015 yr Yes, that's the one I was on about. And I know he's a big Eurovision name, but still, that doesn't explain how my dad knew who he was, 'cause he ain't a massive ESC fan like I am.
March 13, 201015 yr Hmm...well I actually quite like the song. :( However, bottom ten is inevitable, and deservedly so. It's so out-dated... If we sent this last year we would've been last for sure, but with such $h!t in this year's contest then top 15 isn't completely out of the question tbh.
March 13, 201015 yr :o Not too bad, it's an S/W production, so what did you expect? Come late Spring/early Summer I think it will catch on more. Plus Josh is quite cute. :kink:
March 13, 201015 yr Just re-watched this on YouTube, and noticed this comment: "when was the last a band represent the UK? 1997 Katrina & The Waves, it's about time we had another band for the UK in eourvison" If only we could all forget about Scooch that easily :kink:
March 14, 201015 yr The show was pretty Cringeworthy in general. What load of rubbish. Josh had the better voice though. Crap song though. <_<
March 14, 201015 yr Dear God..... AWFUL song, even worse singer.. WTF? They gave up the year after trying and it working! lol FFS, the best they could find was a bunch of rubbish singers and an out-dated songwriter! I feel well let down! What a step down from Jade!
March 14, 201015 yr I had concerns when I heard Pete Waterman was writing the song this year, he's so not what Eurovision is about these days yet exactly what Britain THINKS Eurovision is about - so I knew it'd end badly. The show was awful. ALL of the performers were absolutely rubbish - the winner can hold a tune but is a complete dullard on stage, and the song sounds like a reject from the 1980s. I doubt the green flashing lights at the beginning of the performance will save it. And that's without mentioning the continuous praise from three judges who were obviously listening to something completely different to the rest of us. I fully expect to come bottom five this year. haha couldn't put it better!
March 14, 201015 yr that one guy from scooch is on Coach Trip  ... and his bint, she was too.. as a waterman hater i must admit to being rather happy that this could be a huge failure!
March 14, 201015 yr I think it's normal service resumed for the UK. The BBC don't want to win Eurovision, hence us being lumbered with a no-hoper of an act and song. I'd rather Channel 4 take the bow, as I think we'd get an alternative approach in the pre-selection and it would be a bit more varied, as it's obvious the BBC does not care. The entertainment/Eurovision sector of the Beeb is a run by a few old queens who still think Eurovision is how it was 20-30 yrs ago. We've got a national broadcaster that doesn't care, and only wants to squander our hard-earned money.

It's just one big mess. But then again, most live BBC shows are... why do we pay for the BBC? FFS!
March 14, 201015 yr why do we pay for the BBC? FFS! The beeb isn't perfect, but having the beeb ensures that we'll always have quality telly within reach. Anyway, without the beeb, there would be no Eurovision as we plough in far too much money which is why we were never relegated from the show when we were constantly getting nil to few points.
March 15, 201015 yr Extracts from the Mike Stock website: "I am happy that Josh won the public vote" "I am now busy getting together the final version which will be significantly different from what has already been served up. I accept the comments that have been posted on the forum and I expect in a short while for everyone to be pleasantly surprised at the end result." "The thinking behind this song is that Eurovision is a theatrical event as much as a song contest. So our song has elements of a show number alongside dance pop. The lyric has a general theme and is not gender specific or too personal." "We need to spice up the performance generally, but in Josh we have a safe pair of lungs who can deliver in these highly charged pressurised circumstances. This is great news for me because we can concentrate on delivering a thumping and exciting mix without worrying if the singer can cope." "Actually the song works in all ways and styles. I have tried it with just a piano accompaniment and it still works. The question is, what style is best? In that regard I am waiting until after Josh has been to the studio and I have recorded his vocals. Then I can tailor make the track to support him. I have not heard him sing in a studio context and this will reveal quite a lot, I think, and lead me to some answers."
March 15, 201015 yr They just played a clip on Radio 1. Scott Mills was like "Are you serious?", then he wished the UK good luck :kink: Apparently, Josh thinks we stand a very good chance

I don't have high hopes seeing as it is Stock, but a 'significant difference' can only be good - and, if there's going to be an element of a show number to it, hopefully there'll be something resembling a proper hook involved. As long as they get rid of that horrific late 90s squelchy synth I'll probably be happy because at its core it isn't a bad song, it's just been produced awfully...
March 15, 201015 yr When do we think we'll be hearing the final version of this? We got to hear a pretty different version of 'It's My Time' in the Maltese national final last year, which wasn't that long after our final I don't think was it?
March 15, 201015 yr Fox: 'Eurovision show was shambles' Monday, March 15 2010, 10:43 GMT By Alex Fletcher, Reality TV Editor Neil Fox has described Pete Waterman's Your Country Needs You! show as a "shambles". The Magic FM DJ, who worked with Waterman on two series of Pop Idol, said that the quality of contestants on the BBC One Eurovision talent hunt was embarrassing. "The comparison between Leona Lewis who won X Factor a few years ago and Your Country Needs You!, which was that Eurovision shambles on Friday - I don't know if you watched it, but I've never been so embarrassed watching anything in years," said Fox. "We have not got a chance of ever winning Eurovision if that is the best we can do. There were people singing on there who were so tone deaf, it really was embarrassing. "And Pete Waterman didn't say 'that was awful'. He would have said that on Pop Idol." He added: "An average song and an average singer. Best of luck and all that, but crikey there must be better than that surely." The Friday night show was won by 19-year-old Josh Dubovie. He will now go on to represent the UK in Norway, singing Waterman and Mike Stock track 'That Sounds Good To Me'.
March 15, 201015 yr Dubovie impressed by Eurovision track Monday, March 15 2010, 18:15 GMT By Alex Fletcher, Reality TV Editor BBC Josh Dubovie has claimed that he is "really impressed" by his Pete Waterman-penned Eurovision track. The 19-year-old singer, who triumphed on the BBC's talent show Your Country Needs You! last week, said that long-time collaborators Pete Waterman and Mike Stock have not let him down with their song 'That Sounds Good To Me'. "The first time I heard the song, I was really impressed by it. It's definitely a Eurovision-style song," he told BBC Breakfast. "Waterman and Mike have lived up to expectations. "It is such an honour [to represent the UK]. My first reaction was just my whole body, it just clenched." Dubovie also revealed that he hopes to match Jade Ewen's top ten finish in last year's competition. "Hopefully I can follow in Jade's footsteps. I'm going to aspire to be as good as her. She broke the ice," he said. Eurovision 2010 will take place in Oslo, Norway on May 29.

As long as they get rid of that horrific late 90s squelchy synth I'll probably be happy because at its core it isn't a bad song, it's just been produced awfully... The synth intro isn't that bad. I think Mike Stock needs to re-write the melody to the chorus. The chorus is what sells the song. Imagine listening to 'Bad Romance' and the chorus was sang like how the verses are. You'd be thinking "where's the chorus?". That's my impression of 'That Sounds Good To Me'. The irony at the moment is that the track sounds rather average to me - sadly the lyrics "that sounds rather average to me" doesn't quite fit the melody. Shame!!! :(

I really worry for singers like these because they clearly are so naive that they'll accept whatever is given to them. Sticking with the Pete Waterman theme, I remember the way One True Voice made a big deal over their "winners song" looking like they genuinely believed 'Sacred Trust' was the excellent masterpiece that would send them to no. 1 in the battle against Girls Aloud. Another example is recent X Factor winner Joe McElderry being pleased with 'The Climb' being chosen as the winners single. Either these singers are easily pleased or they are signed to a contract where they have to say they like the track even if at the back of their minds they actually hate the song and have no faith in it. Transparent!!! :manson: Edited March 15, 201015 yr by Hitstastic
