March 12, 201015 yr I'm gobsmacked at how shoddily the BBC have treated ESC this year. As I said earlier, I don't think the NFs were even this bad before last year! :manson: Thank goodness the best performer won. I just don't think anyone in the UK will care remotely about the song or get behind it like they did with Jade, Pete is utterly irrelevant to the industry now and signing him up for this was a disaster. ALW was an inspired selection as he does musical theatre, which works in Eurovision because it's different. Dated 90's Europop production (with a 70's melody) went out the window a long time ago and Iceland's entry sounds fresh in comparison. If we've heard the 2010 winner already then I'm severly disappointed (unless it's Ireland). Sweden have a massive chance to do well now, if only they can avoid Anna somehow.
March 12, 201015 yr The UK will get behind this as mush as they did with the Andy Abraham entry, a top 75 smash it beckons.
March 12, 201015 yr Niamh would be a truly justified winner, given It's For You totally wipes the floor with Didrik...but yes, looking at the competition I'm getting the feeling that if Sweden choose one of the correct two out of the three of Anna/Timoteij/Salem, they've won this by a mile!
March 12, 201015 yr After hearing the song three songs I seriously can't believe that is the song to represent the UK. The chorus is shockingly out of date. It sounds like the type of track that would've been considered album track filler for The Roynolds Girls in 1989. Shame as the verses aren't that bad and Josh was easily the best which I also find extremely surprising. Still, that chorus... Oh, and the BBC really needed to turn down the microphones off those backing singers. At times I could hear them over the main vocalists. Clearly the BBC already think we're destined for disaster and didn't even put any effort into this show. That said, I have a gut feeling the UK won't come last. We'll come 24th!!! :w00t: :P
March 12, 201015 yr Yes Sweden could od very well if the right one is picked and im delighted to see others thinking Ireland could do very well this year aswell. Ireland havent been top 5 since 1997 i think.

Even Anna could quite easily go top ten considering the dire line up of songs this year... In my opinion Timoteij would wipe the floor with everyone but it seems to be a no hoper - MF doesn't seem to be about picking the best song for Eurovision anymore, rather picking the best chart hit. Hopefully Christer's idea to get international juries in on it will help, but they'll still only be making up 25% of the total score.
March 12, 201015 yr Josh will at least lift us to 20th. Either way, it's not going to go down well in the papers the next morning unless someone who isn't a complete yes man tells Waterman that the track needs a revamp/something even barely resembling a hook.
March 12, 201015 yr What an awful 90 minutes of crap telly. It was just a glorified platform to feed Watermans ego. Granted he wrote some great pop ditties in the lat 80s, but it's 2010! Getting all these below average singers to sing his songs, cring worthy stuff. Alexander raised the bar last year, with what I think for Eurovision standards, is a GREAT song! We;ve took ten steps back after last years (slightly) admirable entry. Our song sounds like Waterman has been locked in a cupboard since 1989 and has continued where he left off. March 12, 201015 yr Don't forget though, this is Eurovision. They might be an entry that's already won its countries Euro Song Selection that nobody cares about that might go on to win. I still think Cyprus have a good chance. Iirc, that's the entry performed by the young Welsh boy? That entry is the only enter that has stood out to me this year. In fact, in all honesty the UK entry is better than some of the other countries singles but it all depends on what mood the Europeans are in on the night. Synth pop made its comeback in 2009 so other European countries might find our entry a revolution compared to, say, Russia.
March 12, 201015 yr if Josh Dubovie makes the charts it will be Pete Waterman's 123rd uk hit single, and it should take his total weeks on chart over 900 Edited March 12, 201015 yr by fiesta

I can't see it happening, they were all praising it  It's just a limp chorus. Flying The Flag (For You) is like a Europop masterpiece in comparison

March 12, 201015 yr You guys don't seem to think so, but That Sounds Good To Me :kink: Very dated, and really cheesy, but I was singing along to the chorus when Esma was on. I thought her version was the best, so bad she messed up. But Josh has a good voice, but please get a new nose before May. Lady GaGa for UK 2011 please  Edited March 12, 201015 yr by bigzarafan
March 12, 201015 yr Lady GaGa for UK 2011 please  The day she lowers herself to this trash (as much as I like it), is a sad day for music.
March 12, 201015 yr The day she lowers herself to this trash (as much as I like it), is a sad day for music. Say WHAT? If she sent Bad Romance (well, something along those lines three minutes long) and landslided the competition, I don't see how it would be a 'sad day for music' just by virtue of being associated with the contest? Nobody says Waterloo is $h!t just because it won Eurovision!
March 12, 201015 yr BBC - good singer, but the song ain't the best it could be. Still 10 days before it needs to be submitted, so please change it before then :P
