:lol: just thinking about this entry is hilarious...the verses are ripped out of Kids In America whilst the song itself feels like a watered down version of Scooch's The Best Is Yet To Come;

except that song was a lot more likeable and ten times more catchy :drama:

They are going to murder sing a SAW classic.

I hope Mushymanrob is watching this.

yep! :P

bloody awful!

sorry i havnt read ten pages of opinion, i have things to do! (ie a life)...lol

that was just about the poorest ever selection of idiots. (as a watcher for nearly 40 years). those wannabes were bloody awful, and even managed to make S/A/W sound respectable! as for that group who covered what they called a bananarama track when in fact it was steps.... jeeeeez.

the soung itself?.... it was 'kids in america' (kim wildes first hit 30 years ago) soundalike, only without the catchy chorus.

will we do any good?... i doubt it, after all.... scooch came last by a mile by singing a pure pop song, so why they drafted in watertwat is utterly bizarre , dont they realise what he does? (and wasnt scooch a watwertwat product?).

winners of recent years have had a very strong folk flavour to them, i like that, its different and champons other countries culture. so unless this years fad is for pure pop then i reckon we have nooooo chance.

a cursery glance through and im surprised...

i expected a watermanesque pop song to be popular here on bj... im glad to see that common sense has prevailed and youve seen it for what it is.... utter crap. :)

UK entry is once again a load of $h!t. So dated and cheesy, the latter not in a good way. German, Spanish (growing on me :cheer: ), Norwegian and (i'm sure) French songs are MILES better.

I think they should announce that UK isn't qualifying automatically next year, hopefully this will help when choosing a song next year :(

I know, I was trying to think of the song all last night and this was all I could hear in my head :(

^ glad it's not just me then  at least you got to go to your first NF, but I wish for your sake that a better song had been selected :(

God, the song is awful, especially the chorus :puke2:

Can we not just send Jade again :( :( My Man would have been perfect for Eurovision

The backing singers on this are atrocious. This could well be a Jemini situation again if either the backing singers or Josh veer off key at some point...this song needs a major overhaul, but I doubt anything will be done to it. Reading all of the comments on ESCToday, Youtube and here, there's been maybe 98% negative comments - and hardly surprising :drama:

Maybe PW has a back up single The Locomotion :magic:

That wouldn't help at all. I'd even go as far to say that the BBC might withdraw, or at least withdraw all the extra funding they give. And I doubt the EBU want that to happen, as I think the BBC pay more than any other broadcaster

Even if the BBC withdrew, I'm sure some other broadcaster would try to stump up the funds for it...there would be uproar if the UK pulled out altogether, as much as people claim to dislike it, it's a yearly ritual to watch it even for the most casual television viewer!

Yes i agree, the eurovision gets slated but at the same time evryone knows about it and everybody has a sneaky look at it that is my perception of UK people, in Ireland i think eurovision is higher regarded in the UK by people in general and it always pulls in big audiences year after year here and usually is top 3 in the ratings and the semi final we are in always tops the ratngs so it indicates there is still a huge appetite for the show.

I cant see the UK pulling out as at the end of the day its a ritual in a way and in many cases opens the door for some talent to brealk through which jade has proven very well.

Eurovision thouht takes time and effort i think Sweden are an example of a country who treat it very well and do their best to come up with good entries year after year sometimes i wish Ireland and Uk would do the same although this year i think Ireland has sent in a brilliant entry. The UK this year have sent a weak entry in which is a shame after the excellent performance of Jade last year.

I would LOVE the UK to do a MF sort of thing, where famous artists and new artists took part together with their latest hits to find a great song for UK. But unlike in Sweden, it would either be completely ridiculed, or IF people took to it, just for a one off, egos would get in the way. As if Robbie and Leona would risk being beaten by a nobody. In Sweden this is commonplace, with Anna tonight set to beat huge stars Darin and Peter Joback, and the Swedish media will make nothing of it. But the media perception/ridicule is partly to blame for the fact that it would never happen here;

'Robbie's career in tatters as novelty rap song beats him to win first heat'

etc...they'd have a field day!

That Sounds BAD To Me

'nul points' again

Pete Waterman has undone all the good Jade did last year.

And for god's sake this Josh guy can't even sing

Bring back Jemini

Bring back Jemini

lolz, i didn't watch YCNY, but i watched Esma, Alexsis and Josh sing this and they all 'sound bad to me'!

that one guy from scooch is on Coach Trip

FFS! What a total farce - just watched the show <_>

Nul points for the UK and deservedly so :manson:

Maybe we should get Fredrik Kempe as the songwriter next year :P The public won't have a clue who he is, and he's not British, but in my opinion, he writes good songs, and the song (and our performers vocals) are all that really matters.

Or maybe that Ralph, who did the entry for Montenegro last year. The public might know him a bit more, 'cause my dad somehow knows who he is
