Saturdays - Just Cant Get Enough lost out to Flo Rida - Right Round

Oasis - Wonderwall kept off by Robson & Gerome

Kelis - Milkshake lost out Michelle McManus

Quite a few early GA songs peaked at #2 come to think of it. The Show & No Good Advice did aswell, loosing out to R. Kelly and Usher.

Ultravox - Vienna

Four weeks at #2 in 1981. Kept off by Joe Dolce's novelty hit "Shaddap You Face" and John Lennon's "Woman"

Was the brit single of the year. Rightly so, one of the best singles ever.

Of course one of the biggest injustices in chart history was Oasis' 'Wonderwall' being beaten by Robson and Jerome- cant even remember what song they murdered!

Another one of course was The Pogues 'Fairytale of New York' beaten by the Pet Shop Boys 'Always on my mind'- PSBs made some great records, but that was not one of them!

what really pisses me off is Coldplays 'Speed of Sound' being beaten by Crazy Frogs 'Axel F'- It wasnt coldplays best and CF is a guilty pleasure, but come on!

I can name a few Sash hits at #2, I think he had around 4 or 5
IMO,

'The Man Who Can't Be Moved' by The Script was one of the best songs of 2008. It was an amazing song.....yet it was beaten by the cheap 'I Kissed A Girl' song from Katy Perry. I was shocked that TMWCBM was beaten to the #1 spot by it. Very dissapointed and gutted for The Script.

O you copy and paste cheat! Even the spelling mistakes are the same.

DJ Jurgen & Alice Deejay 'Better Off Alone' kept off the no. 1 spot by Ronan Keating 'When You Say Nothing At All'
OH GOD YES! :( Poor Alice! (One of my fave songs ever!)

I also agree about the very first post and The Script :(

Some more that come to mind:

Rihanna 'SOS' stopped by Gnarls Barkley 'Crazy' (I personally hate that song! :()

Rihanna 'Unfaithful' stopped by McFly 'Don't Stop Me Now'

Rihanna 'Russian Roulette' stopped by Peter Kays Animated Band 'All Star Medley'

Cascada 'Everytime We Touch' stopped by Shakira 'Hips Don't Lie' (I like HDL, but EWT is one of my fave songs ever!)

Can't think at the moment as I'm tired LOL

It's gotta be Better Off Alone, beaten by Ronan, Westlife and Geri. I'm ok with Geri since I like that particular song, but the others were blah.

Sonique - Sky and Kylie - On A Night Like This kept of the top by Modjo

Zombie Nation kept of the top by Mariah & Westlife :puke2:

Mysterious Times kept of the top by Boyzone...

Dario G - Sunchyme and Sash - Stay both kept of the top by Elton John

Mis-Teeq - All I Want kept of the top by Shaggy - Angel

Samantha Mumba - Gotta Tell You beaten by Eminem

Robert Miles - Children, pretty sure it was a $h!te track who kept this off the top

The Original - Luv U Baby blocked by Oasis

avril lavigne could have had her first UK number 1 with 'girlfriend' if it wasn't for the stupid charity single by andy pipkin and the proclaimers! <_<

another victim is kate nash, where 'foundations' lost to timbaland and keri hilson. 'the way I are' was alright but 'foundations' was one of the highlights of 2007! :(

Girls Aloud - Jump lost out to Westlife - Mandy

Saturdays - Just Cant Get Enough lost out to Flo Rida - Right Round

Cascada 'Everytime We Touch' stopped by Shakira 'Hips Don't Lie' (I like HDL, but EWT is one of my fave songs ever!)

These songs are all DIRE, and I am sure that they would NOT have been thought of as vintage #1s had they made it.

I mean, come on, do we really think a cheap karaoke cover of Depeche Mode deserved the top spot?

Im not sure what they held off- but whoever was held off by Bob the Builder and the Teletubbies really is bad!
Westlife 'What Makes A Man' stopped by 'Can We Fix It?' by Bob.

Supermen Lovers/Mani Hoffman 'Starlight' stopped by 'Mambo No 5' by Bob.

But another good one:

iio 'Rapture' was stopped by AFROMAN! :manson:

Puretone 'Addicted to Bass' was stopped by 'More Than A Woman' by Aaliyah. (I honestly don't see the appeal in that song personally, but I think that was the one that became a hit after she tragically died though...)

Kym Marsh's 'Cry' was stopped by Gareth Gates' 'Spirit In The Sky'! :drama:

Kevin Lyttle 'Turn Me On' stopped by Sugababes 'Hole In The Head' (Deservedly so though -_-) but then stopped again by FATMAN BLOODY SCOOP! :drama:

Jamelia 'Thankyou' was stopped by Peter Andre's 'Mysterious Girl' (Another reason to hate Moyles :drama:)

The Darkeness 'Christmas Time' was stopped by the awful 'Mad World'!

Another one is Destiny's Child's 'Lose My Breath' which lost out to the topspot to one of Eminem's worst songs. :(
Robert Miles - Children, pretty sure it was a $h!te track who kept this off the top
First time was Oasis 'Don't Look Back In Anger' and then Take That 'How Deep Is Your Love?' twice :(
More Than A Woman' by Aaliyah. (I honestly don't see the appeal in that song personally, but I think that was the one that became a hit after she tragically died though...)

The appeal of the song is in the production of Timbaland. One of his very best pieces. The synths and the beats are so understated. One of the very best number 1s of the noughties.

Puretone would've been #1 had they not leaked copies the week before. Even though I prefer "Addicted to Bass", i'm glad Aaliyah got a UK #1.

Jonjo - thanks, and proves my point. Both pretty crap songs.

"Man In The Mirror" beaten by "Evacuate The Dancefloor"!!! :puke2: :puke2:

Okay, I wasn't particularly bothered by that, I just wanted to tell Jonjo off for saying the Aaliyah song was undeserving. It's one of the best #1s of the last decade. (though, granted, it's not remembered anymore)

Ones that stand out as particular crimes to me:

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Take Me Home kept off by Five's 'Let's Dance' (I mean what the fuck?!)

Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight kept off by that Elvis vs JXL thing (as above)

Girls Aloud - No Good Advice beaten by R. Kelly's 'Ignition', also 'Jump' by Wasteoflife

Dannii Minogue - I Begin To Wonder kept off by Christina Aguilera's 'Beautiful' (Brilliant song but it had already been at #1, that was Dannii's only chance gone :()

Deee Lite's 'Groove Is In The Heart' and that Joker thing

I'll add more as they come to mind.

Mariah's 'We Belong Together' beaten by stupid Tupac and Elton John - travesty!

Just to show how we all have different tastes, I think all four of those number ones are far better records than the number twos.
