February 23, 201015 yr Vue officially confirmed to be showing it. But the bad news is the Dutch are also threatening a boycott And the funny thing is, Odeon aren't showing it, yet the premier takes place at an Odeon cinema :kink:
February 23, 201015 yr Odeon should forfeit that right :kink: They can't have it ALL their own way
February 23, 201015 yr the premire isnt a commercial booking which is why Odeon are allowing it to take place. Vue are pussys for showing it.
February 24, 201015 yr ^I dont see why they are "pussys" for showing it  There is going to be a high demand for this film and Ive been told that at some places you need to pre-book as the first few showings have sold out.

February 24, 201015 yr Surely they've realised though, that if all those that have said they will pull out, actually pulled out, then just imagine the amount of money they'd make if they were one of the only Cinema companies to show the film. All in all it's all about £££. I will ask my bosses at Showcase if we're showing it, today. Hopefulyl we haven't pulled out, coz otherwise i'd have to pay to see the film! LOL :P

February 24, 201015 yr i'm pretty sure Showcase are showing it, but they dont have 3D screens if im correct, which is why they arent the cinema chains mentioned in this whole fiasco. to be fair Odeon are the only chain not showing it, so Vue and Cineworld have basically gave up, they are now slaves to Disney, they think moneyheresoonnowasfastaspossible, but in the long run if they had power over Disney it could make them stronger.

I agree with Chris tbh, they should have held their nerve against the "Mouse-Schwitz" Ubergruppenfuhrers, which would've given them much stronger bargaining power in the future... The facts are these - Odeon, Cineworld and Vue account for over TWO THIRDS of the total cinema space in the UK, if they'd held strong, Disney would have had to re-negotiate their position.... Cineworld and Vue bottled it, simple as....
February 24, 201015 yr Kinda O/T but did Odeon show Twilight? I remember going to the one in leicester square and they told me they werent showing it....
February 24, 201015 yr i'm pretty sure Showcase are showing it, but they dont have 3D screens if im correct, which is why they arent the cinema chains mentioned in this whole fiasco. The Showcase I work at (Nottingham) has one 3D screen. I'm not sure about all the other Showcases though  But yeah I see your points, that if they did stick to it then Disney would have had to re-negotiate etc... Also is it true supermarkets have posters and stuff already saying "Out On DVD Soon" or whatever?! :o

Also is it true supermarkets have posters and stuff already saying "Out On DVD Soon" or whatever?! :o erm, i'm not sure then, but I do know for certain that Vue, Odeon and Cineworld have 95% of the UK's 3D screens, so all the showcase ones must be in the 5%, they must have far less than those 3 chains anyway, one of the main issues was that it was so highly advertised/touted as a 3D film, yet 95% of the UK screens wouldnt be available with the boycott. I agree with Scott, if the 3 chains held together strong against Disney then they would be so much more powerful, but sadly 2 of the chains decided to quite because they saw pound signs in their eyes, as they will get more money from people who would of gone to Odeon, it just shows Disney can walk all over the cinema chains, Disney will be able to do this again and again now, so if Vue and Cineworld were pissed about the shorter contract before, how will they like it with far more movies.
February 24, 201015 yr Disney will be able to do this again and again now, so if Vue and Cineworld were pissed about the shorter contract before, how will they like it with far more movies. In a nutshell... And probably not just Disney proper... All their subsidiaries too - Pixar, Touchstone, Miramax, Hollywood Pictures.... They've really fukked things up for themselves by not seeing the bigger picture....
February 24, 201015 yr ...And I wouldn't be surprised if 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures, Time Warner, Universal, and a hell of a lot of others jumping on this as well and negotiating shortened cinema runs for their blockbusters too so they can get them out on DVD quicker....
February 25, 201015 yr Just found out that the Showcase where I work WILL be screening Alice In Wonderland in both 3D & 2D! :D SO HAPPY! LOL!
February 25, 201015 yr Odeon now showing it. pathetic. and now sucks for Vue and Cineworld who wont make a larger profit out of Odeon not showing it now.
February 25, 201015 yr TBH wouldn't surprise me if it was just a fake story to garner even more hype for the film. It seems to have worked as most people I know that want to see it, were talking about it and how they will be "gutted" if it doesn't get shown at a cinema near them etc...
