To be honest the tram special FX were a bit naff  But it's still going to be an amazing week nonetheless!

Ashley and Molly are confirmed.

I've read that

Rita

is confirmed.

Kath

I was thinking, what if Molly survives but the baby dies? Or vice-versa? Hmm

Would a baby survive that situation......? :S

Oh I do hope Rita doesnt get killed off. I think the majority of the Coronation Street characters are absoulute knobs most of the time, so it'd be a shame to see her go. I havent watched the show regularly in years though so they were quite a few unfamiliar faces, never seen Charlotte before, and had no idea Keith Duffy was back.

Was very well done though I thought. Even though by the end I was just willing for someone, just anyone to die. Very much so looking forward to tomorrow anyway.

My dreams of Sean dying arent going to happen though are they?

See Barbara Knox was on Paul O'Grady a few weeks ago and she never does interviews. Is that because she has a lot of free time now

I was hoping Claire wouldn't die, I like her....and it looks from the trailer like she wasn't involved in the disaster...

Although

if Ashley does die who knows what Claire might do....she's not exactly the most stable of characters

:(

I hope Sunita is ok....

There are many characters in Corrie that seemed to never get big storylines anymore....so I can see why they wanted to do this. I wouldn't be surprised if at least 5-6 characters died actually.

I want to see it again on youtube too, when you're watching it in the heat of the moment it's easy to miss bits like where characters are running or if they're in harms way.

I don't watch Corrie anymore (I have absolutely no idea what's happening with John) but I just caught up on these two episodes and that was pretty damn impressive.

I found a lot of the comic scenes a bit rubbish, very pantomime actually, and I always though Corrie was good at the balance of comedy and drama! But the more serious stuff was very good and I LOVED the explosion/crash even if it did look a bit like they'd made a miniature plastic set and blown it up. I want to know what happens next. Baby Jack and Rita cannot die :(

The only bit that I thought was a bit suspect was the head on shot of the tram as it was about to hit the shop. The scene with Molly running towards the back of the shop was superb. And the final death throes of the tram into the Kabin was great! I also loved the 'Hitchcock/Spielberg' camera trick they used on John Stape.

Great episode. I did actually like the comedy too. Little throw away lines like when Leanne says 'I'm going to marry the man who's going to make me happy, love me forever, etc, etc) ... to which Eileen replies 'do we know him?'

Kath

They simply CANNOT kill Rita off like that. Surely one of their most iconic characters ever deserves something a tad better than death whilst reaching for a box of chocolates.

I do hope Rita survives. It just seems that after 4 decades, she would really deserve her OWN death, with tributes and farewell scenes and emotions and everything. Not having to "share" her departure with a handful of others, and being overshadowed by some special effects.

Those last few moments of that episode were properly RIDICULOUS and OTT though. The tram diving off the viaduct with the zoom-in on agog-tram-driver was hilariously CRAP. I loved it. Best 5 minutes of soap EVER.

I did wonder if she would die but by being hit more directly by the tram as it would seem quite apt after the other famous tram scene on the show. As that hasn't (quite) happened, I now want her to survive.
Was the crash tonight :o I knew it was soon, but I didn't think it was tonight. I was gonna tune in just to see it :(

Well I've been assured from several quarters that

........ Rita ........

does die.

Kath

The character of Rita has been totally and inextricably linked with her shop for decades so it's fitting if she does die reaching for chocs.

I've personally suspected that Sunita only ever returned to be killed off, as I'm sure Shobna said something in an interview when she left the first time about never wanting to be on a continuous soap contract again.

Jack; the explosion and subsequent crash were in the final 5 minutes of tonight's second episode.

I did wonder if she would die but by being hit more directly by the tram as it would seem quite apt after the other famous tram scene on the show. As that hasn't (quite) happened, I now want her to survive.

Judging from the spoilers,

they focus more on Rita later on in the week, presumably at which point deaths #2 and #3 may be wrapped up. It's possible they're "saving the best for last" :(

So Charlotte was death #1 (predictably - although I wasn't expecting it as early on as that :o ). My money is on Molly and Ashley for #2 and #3.

It was pretty great! Like others, I barely watch the show, but enough (i.e. I read What's On TV enough ) to know the main storylines and characters. The close up of the tram driver trying to pull the brakes added a bit of unnecessary tackiness to proceedings but otherwise it was a gripping 5 minutes. Will try to remember to keep watching all week!
I watched it too. In all fairness to Corrie it was quite spectacular. I even thought the tram sxf were decent! But the best bit of the two episodes was probably Charlotte SLASHING THE AIR with a hammer only to be karmically retributed SECONDS later.
